Smithy seems to have opened the door for Kyreth to take a job, so it sounds like the most likely to succeed. Convincing him to let a relative stranger into his workplace seems like it would be tough, unless he's not super competent 😅
Sorry for the radio silence, life has been 'interesting'. The new place is mostly done now, although I have come to hate flat-pack furniture. Concentration is still a bit hit and miss.
I'll catch up on the last few days, and hopefully have a plan soon. 🤞
The local Zhents are from Waterdeep. Their centre of operations is from the Warehouses in the Dock district. They recently lost four operatives, slavers, caught by the guard.
The leader of the local Zhentarim is Denia, a human fighter. She has fingers in most pies. The Zhents in the Casino are part of her entourage. They all know each other.
It may be best to say that you are on business for Zhentil Keep or the Temple of Bane, a bounty hunter.
It is rare, and you get the person to drink it, for instance Quentin, then you could take his place.
Here you go:
Potion, rare
This concoction looks, smells, and tastes like a potion of healing or other beneficial potion. However, it is actually a drug masked by illusion magic. An identify spell reveals its true nature. If you drink this potion, roll 5d8. If the total amount rolled is equal to or higher than your current hit points, you fall unconscious for 1 minute. The effect ends if you take damage or someone uses an action to shake or slap you awake. Undead and creatures immune to being charmed aren't affected by this potion.
Ah, thanks, do we have any idea if the potion will work on Quentin, he could have more than 40 hp for instance, or perhaps we should just assume it will likely work?
I have no stats for Quentin. As DM I'd say use it as a potion in his tea or wine in his office then tie him up.
Either that or I try to put together some form of stats for him, other DMs have had the same problem, they suggest HP 16. (I tried it out and 5 d8 was 22)
I'm sorry folks, but I am going to bow out. I just can't find the energy to concentrate and keep track of things. Rather than keep you hanging about waiting, I'll say farewell.
Thanks for the fun along the way, and I wish you and your characters the best of luck.

I'm cool either way though.
Just checking in. Is everyone all right?
All good with me. Just waiting on the IC/outcome of Oberon's OOC's question.
Oberon99
Both of your ideas sound solid enough to work. I personally would go with the second option, getting Smithy to put in a good word for your friend.
Okay thanks, was just thinking I would let Vedar have a say, post soon.
No problem. It has occurred to me that he may be ill :( I'll PM him.
ATMM Kyreth is in your joint bedroom, maybe a talk away from the Zhents might do the trick.

Flat packed boxes are always fun, not to mention interesting construction leaflets :)
Yep. When you only have to fit the drawers, and then find out that the sliders are the wrong way around 🙄
Catching up it seems there's could be a place for Kyreth in the mirror room? If that's so what would I know about the Zhents for my interview?
Also, the statue is out in the open. Do we know if it's trapped or alarmed?

The trophy, Exa clocked it as being trapped, magical and physical, guarded by a Security guard (passive perception).
The corridor to the vault also needs Quentins presence or the security guards to be unconscious.
Zhentarim information can be found here: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Zhentarim
The statue is currently on display in Cania.
Ah, yes, my bad.
Apologies, my question was a bit vague. I was looking for information about the local Zhents - who's in charge, current state of play, etc.
I'm guessing they won't just let anybody with a badge into security.

How does a potion of sleep work exactly, didn't know there was such a thing? :-)

Thank you for playing as far as you did. I hope to play with you again one day.
Keep well!
