With the added strength of Rokthar, the group successfully drags the equine corpses to either side of the road. The obstruction is removed, creating ample room for travel to continue.
Examining the trail of the road to which the tracks lead, it is clear that nothing much larger than goblins or game have made frequent use of it. The narrowness will require you to traverse it single file.
Healerman, who has been consistently scribbling in his journal throughout the movement of the horses and the examination of the trail speaks up, "I will remain here with the wagon, tending the oxen and ensuring no passerby is tempted by its contents."
[[OOC: If you opt to follow the trail the drag marks lead to, decide your marching order. Also, I never did hear back from Wildlord continuing with Healerman. Fortunately, Pogifer reached out to me about joining the campaign. So, big kudos to Rokthar . . . a stud of a cleric!
Also, I'll be offline for most of today and tomorrow. So, don't be alarmed by my sudden radio silence. Looking forward to seeing how you progress and some more great roleplaying amongst you!]]
Shynt'lyn: I step back from the horse corpses, after we get them off the road, swatting flies away from my face. "Damn, those things are really starting to stink." I start following the drag marks, taking the lead. "Who all is coming?"
Ooc: if we leave Healerman alone with our cargo, he might not be able to fend off bandits. Honestly, I wouldn't mind staying with the cargo, but I would like to come along.
Ooc: if someone stays behind, it would need to be someone who can deal damage and tank some damage. Red and Paget have the most hit points. What do y'all think?
Rothkar: Following Shynt'lyn, "There's always more goblins than you think. I'll make sure no one is following us." I take up the rear.
[[OOC: It's typically good to not split a party so hard, and it would be a bummer for a couple of us not to participate in whatever comes of this trail.
Hey DM could one or two of us make a roll to hide the cargo that way we feel better about just leaving Healerman?]]
[[OOC: on mobile, so forgive any typos. Healerman is essentially an NPC and I’m using this to kind of write him out. So, trust in him to protect the wagon in your absence.]]
Paget: Everyone had already taken their place, Paget just shrugged, while not wide in stature, his athletic ability was such that he didn't worry about losing his balance on this trail. "I will make sure none of us fall." He says quietly, getting in the middle. Then he rubs at his necklace again, restless.. anxiety building. "Come on Red, Healerman will be fine here. We need to get to our employer."
Ooc: I had a feeling you might be doing that with Healerman.
Shynt'lyn: "I agree with Paget. Red, let's go. Take up the rear." I start following the drag marks, constantly scanning for signs of ambush or our employer. (Perception check: nat 1 plus 4.)
The party makes their way along the trail, with Shynt'lyn in the lead staying focused for any sign of danger, Gundren, or Sildar.
The trees on either side of the trail create a canopy over the trail, relieving some of the heat from the midday sun with their shade. The ground is moist from the lack of direct light, and the mulching leaves resting over the trail give off a musty earth aroma as the group walks over them.
The tracks through the leaves have been noticeably altered to try and cover them up, but for the most part Shynt'lyn is able to keep them in sight. After walking the trail for about ten minutes, Shynt'lyn notices the tracks all move to one side of the trail, leaving the center untrodden by the recent marks.
Further inspection (Passive Perception: 14 vs DC 12) reveals a snare cleverly hidden across the middle of the trail. Studying it carefully, Shynt'lyn can see that the line leads up to a thick limb extended across the trail in the foliage above.
It would appear Red Admiral is not the only one fond of setting traps.
Shynt'lyn: I hold up fist, indicating that we need to stop. "There's a snare trap on the trail." I cautiously approach trap and attempt to disarm it. [Ooc: not sure what I'd need to roll for that ]

[[OOC: Make a skill check using your Dex modifier.]]
Rethos: Rethos walks up behind Shynt'lyn, he sees that he's about to trigger the trap, which, if done carefully, may not be a terrible idea, but he then stops him, doing his best to guide him. He doens't know traps, but he knows when things may go bad. His hand lands on his shoulder and he begins to guide him through it.
(Casting Guidance as well as giving Help. So Advantage plus an additional D4.)
With the asistance of the Tiefling Sorcerer, Shynt'lyn deftly disarms the trap. From what you can tell about the trigger and amount of thin wire used, the snare would have snatched it's victim up to dangle about 10 feet in the air. Probably would not be an issue traveling in a party, but any lone passerby would certain be stranded above the trail until the goblins returned.
With the trap safely contained, you are free to continue along the trail.
Rothkar: “Let’s get a move on then”. Walks over with the others to help

Rethos: Rethos gives a nod to Healerman and follows behind the group, staying right in front of Rokthar.
