Aiden sits in the silence, the lightning gone from his eyes. His breath is heavy and his heart pounds in his ears. He chokes back the desire to ask if it had worked, and waits for Valaith to speak. The hammer sits, unmoving, in the center of the circle, still reeking with the stink of necromancy.

“It worked!” Vark says as he pops up from the extinguished circle. He runs over to his friend and kneels beside her. “V-val? Are you okay? How do you feel?”
"No chances, now. Let's not celebrate yet." Bründir grasped Dumdrengi in both hands and held it aloft, ready to split Rook like a log if it so much as shook.

Valaith gasps as she and Larkin’s spirit suddenly fall backwards to the floor with a heavy, resounding thud! She feels an odd warmth seeping into her belly and chest, overriding the once frost-like pit in her stomach. She lay quietly for a few moments as she waits for something… what, she doesn’t know. While the cold in her stomach was gone, she still feels the same cold in her fist and forearms where the black lightning scars snake their way up. Eventually she makes her way to her feet as the others begin to speak. “I am okay, Vark…” she didn’t sound confident at first as she leans down to pick Rook up from the floor. “Yes, I am okay! Thanks to all of you! You have saved my brother’s spirit! I do not know how to thank you…” She looks to Aiden in the bright glow of Brundir’s sword. “You…” she approaches and grabs him suddenly into a massive hug. “Thank you. You did not know me, but he helped anyway. You have done me and Larkin a great service this day and I am bound to repay that. You have my service until that day!”
Inwardly where seems out her brother’s spirit inside of her. ‘Larkin? Can you hear me? Are you there?’
The breath is squeezed out of him by the goliath woman's embrace. He coughs, then says in a strained voice, "Happy I could help." When she releases him, he busies himself collecting his parchment and prayer book. He looks around the room. If not for the disturbed curtains and the wrinkled sheets on the bed, one would never know what had just happened here. He looks around at the group. "This must be pretty normal for you lot."

Thurston jumped to his feet when he sees Val fall down but controls himself, knowing that if she needs help she would ask for it. When she erupts in joy for it had worked he smiled.
Jex can see that he motions to go to her but stops when he sees she runs towards the chavalier.
Looking uncomfortable for a second he recompose and says.
"I am glad that it worked Val. I am really am. Should we proceed as Jex said? " he adds a little bit abruptly " That Codex thing seems to be determined to throw the mountain above the dwarves heads... "
"Yes, let us do so! I worry about getting this thing for Matthew, but I trust Vark to now know his limits." She pats Vark's shoulders as she passes by to follow Thurston out the room.
Jex falls in beside Aiden as they leave the room. "This is not unusual, you must have seen things like this before though? You have travelled a long way and the world is full of adventures and strange things I have found. I want to know though..." He gives a sly grin, "what was Thurston like when he was young? There must be tales of broken hearts and broken skulls, and I think we should hear them!"
Aiden laughs with Jex. "Thurston was...well, he was Thurston. He was a legend, even back then. As for broken hearts," Aiden pauses, collecting his thoughts. "I don't exactly know. We knew each other from studying the ways of Thor, but outside of that, we didn't exactly run in the same circles. He was the hero of the gods, and I was an adopted slave." He shrugs. "He treated me better than the rest, though."

"Oh, how... Interesting." Jex gives Aiden a slight shove. "I had hoped for some gossip, but all you give me are more stories of how nice he is." He pauses a moment. "I came to preaching the ways of Thor later in my life, but I have never seen one able to manifest his gifts so completely. He still has much to understand of them though, and I'm sure you do too, there is only so much you can learn on the islands. Perhaps I will teach you too."
Aiden nods. "Eikthyrnir ran out of things to teach me five years ago," he says. "So I left. I am sorry that I do not have fun stories to share." He pauses, and eyes Jex up and down as they continue walking. "You do not seem like any Norscan I have ever met. How did you come to learn Thor's ways? Were you a slave, too?"

"The first lesson you must learn." Jex gives a wink, "Is that the world is much wider than those islands you were held in. Thor is mighty and his strength is spread far. I was no captive or slave, but I was left as an orphan in a church, much like the one I have built now in Sheercleft where Thor's wisdom was shared to us all. All in a land far north and west of the Norscans."
"It is wider. I traveled all over Quenlan and Aethelyard with caravans for the past few years." Jex seemed an agreeable enough person, and could even be intimidating, had Aiden's first impression of him not been such an acrobatically amusing one.
"You've all mentioned Sheercleft a few times," he says. "I passed through there with the caravan I traveled here with. It is a good home to you?"

"Better than where I'm from." Vark chimes in. "I uhm... I never really fit in with the orcs I grew up with. Sheercleft was the first place I stopped after I left."
Jex nods. "It is a good place, and will soon be better. We have the chance to rebuild it, and shape it into something great. I am building an orphanage, a library, a tavern, a temple. Places to centre the community, encourage trade and keep everyone safe."
"Vark, you are far more agreeable and reasonable than any orc I have met previously," he says. At Jex's statement, he whistles. "I can't imagine settling down like that. Though it doesn't seem to be without its adventures."
Aiden guessed that traveling with this group would be dangerous, but very profitable. Wealth was in his future once again. But not only wealth, but excitement. "Better than guarding caravans, at any rate."

Jex shrugs. "He isn't always so agreeable" He gives a wink and pokes his tongue out playfully at Vark. "He keeps us on our toes. But yes, we haven't really settled down, it's a place we look after though, or at least we intend to. Lots of threats to face though." He grins cheerfully
After picking up some ropes and hooks and others supplies from their chart, the Norscan heads to the Rhunki’s place. Seeing that his friends are getting behind Thurston waits for them. As soon as they are near he waves his hand to make them haste. “Do not linger my friends!” He yells “we need to reach the wise dwarf, the Rhunki wich is right there” he points to the building they met the dwarf last day.
As if the mountain, or the force behind the Codex was in league with him the rocks tremble again.
“We must hurry” he says to his companions after the shake stops and goes to it double time.
