"I see now why Rhunki chose you. I should have known better than to doubt his wisdom. Welcome, friends from Sheercleft," the Dwarf proclaims, standing and spreading his arms wide. "Please forgive my caution. It's an unbelievable tale that you tell, young Vark, and as for you, Lady Rimehand, they say that a score of hobgoblins could not fell you before our gates."
"She is our greatest warrior Thane" says Thurston with real proud on his voice " Keeper of her tribe and guardan of their ancestors."He looks at Val for a second "I am honored to fight at her side." he clear his throath and continue "We know that our tales are incredible, young Aiden here is just trying to catch up with them but I know him for our youth and I vouch for him. We will do what is in our hands to help you. "
Valen was taken aback by the fame of his companions that seemed to hang like mantles on their shoulders. Despite the prestige within his own order, by comparison he was a simple Stone - a squire among the Walls of The Bastion. It was enough to make him sink low and avoid being noticed, lest his forward introduction among such invested conversation be seen as a selfish imposition. His shield hung heavy in his hand, and shifting it he saw the keep emblazoned on the front. He remembered he was not simply a holy knight, but a representative of his order. Stepping forward, he gathered what dignity he could into his back and shoulders.
"Thane, it is an honor to meet you, and your welcome to Khaz a Gungron is gracious beyond compare. I am Valen, Benedictus of The Bastion of Our Lady. I travel with these great heroes by divine serendipity, for I was dispatched to see what troubles this area and bring the full aid of my order, if needed. I stand ready to dive into the mountain's roots to expel what ails your people, or to fly with all haste and return with a cohort like myself in tow."

Jex takes another step forward. Bowing deeply he speaks: "We are, Thane, with your blessing I will take my companions and deal with this trouble for you" He has once again shifted back to dwarven, watching carefully how his words fall to test their impact in the new language.
Val smirks as Thane Forgekeeper addresses her directly, swelling her chest with pride and nodding to the dwarven leader for acknowledging her prowess in battle. She glances at Valen from the corners of her eyes, a slight twitch of irritation showing in the angle of her mouth, but she says nothing... for now. Hopefully this young fool would not be with them long. "I am ready to depart."
Valen bristled with excitement and anxiety. For the past two years, he was an emissary. He'd known travels and dangers, but this was different than hazards of the road. This was a commitment to something independent of his cause. The idea of throwing in his lot without a sanction made him hesitant to be branded a mercenary, but their cause had shown him signs of divine will. A spark of revelation finally struck him before he spoke his lot: He was to be not just a messenger, but a champion of his Lady. She wouldn't want her chosen to sit idle as darkness spread across the lands. "Sire, you have the support of The Lady's Bastion. Ours are just Hands to do Her works, and powerful Walls to draw a line as Bulwarks for the defenseless. Lead us down, and know that you may send a messenger in my name to have our aid sent whenever needed."

Once Thurston, Valaith and Vark have confirmed that they wish to proceed, Thane Forgekeeper nods solemnly and takes a flat blade from atop one arm of his great stone chair. Steel flashes in the torchlight and the dwarf extends his bloodied palm out before him, clenching it into a fist. Dark droplets of burgundy fall onto the flagged tiles before the thane with a spatter and a distant rumbling echoes from beneath the throne room. The screech of stone grinding on stone fills the chamber and in the middle of the flight of steps leading up to Forgekeeper's dais, the top-most step sinks until it is no longer visible. It is followed by the next step down, and the next, until a dark passage has opened up beneath the dais, descending into blackness. The thane and his guards look on in silence as they wait for the six warriors to enter.
The passage slopes away into the distance, below and past the dais, until Jex arrives in a roughly circular chamber with cogs on each side and a lever in the centre.
Aiden follows Thurston, nodding to the Thane as they pass through the threshold of the passage. He frowns into the darkness, then pulls his warhammer from his belt and drags it along the side of his shield. "Lys," he whispers, and several luminescent sparks jump to the head of his hammer and shine there with a soft crackling sound. "I'll take up the rear," he says to the rest.
Jex walks over to the leaver, tracking the directions of the cogs and looking for any connections, rods, levers and pulleys that indicate what will happen if he pulls.
Calling out to the others, he stands back up.
"I believe this will take us down into the depths."
"Impressive," Aiden mutters under his breath as he inspects the cogs and gears in the light flickering from his hammer. "I hope it holds together on the way down."

Vark walks near the front of the group as they descend, spear gripped tight against his body. His eyes scan the mechanical workings around them with wonder before resting on the lever at Jex’s side. “Well... I guess we better get it moving.”
There's a dull clunk as Jex pulls the lever, followed by a rattling of gears and then the four big cogs around the edges of the circular chamber begin to turn and the stone floor descends into a smooth cut shaft of rock with ever increasing speed! The light of Aiden's warhammer casts flickering shadows on the walls as they rush by and a cool current of air peels up around the sides of the stone disc creating a buffeting cage of turbulence. After what feels like several minutes, the descent finally begins to slow and the platform eventually grinds to a halt.
One side of the Dwarven elevator now opens out onto a great subterranean chamber. Two ornately carved staircases lead down and away into the depths.
Forgekeeper nods in understanding.
