Yes, I suppose he could tell us no. If he does that, our party is stuck. Which is OK, it's his game. He could rule that we failed and call in a new set of players. I'm fine with that. I'm just saying that the only way to progress is if we take a long rest.

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Lumiere will keep watch initially while the party rests, switching with another to get her own rest.
Once the long rest is finished, she'll look to the rest of the group. "So do we have a plan for surviving the room ahead? It has many interesting traps and abilities within."
Lumiere will go with them, ready to blast anything that gets too close to them. She'll carefully open the door to the room for the group so they can work from a safe distance to begin with.

You aim your cold-infused javelin at the slime and start poking it, but it doesn't work, rather, the tip of your javelin starts smoking and becomes unusable. You notice that the cold emanating from the weapon got drawn to the mold.
OOC: OK I'm officially stumped. The mold-slime is apparently immune to Fire, Cold, Radiant, and Poison Damage. Of which Fire is extra bad. I'm fairly certain that we don't have access to other damage types?

"I think we need to purge the slime with fire, then deal with the mold via your elemental weapon." Lumiere suggests. She asks the others to stand back and casts her Burning Hands at the slime.
The slime starts burning and you almost can smell the foul odor of rotting bodies in the air, then it slowly becomes brown mold that covers all the room.

Yeah, I don't see why I shouldn't allow you to do so! You all do a long rest.
Lumiere will keep watch initially while the party rests, switching with another to get her own rest.

"That was being good prayer time! Let's go kick some mold and kill some trapping traps!"
Armed with some javelins, I will go back to the moldy-slime room. I cast elemental weapon cold on my javelin and start poking the moldy-slime.

Falmo will stay rather far back and offer moral support.

OOC: Ubogri could cure it or hit it with a lightning arrow. Guess it's worth a try.
Seeing yet another kind of energy have little to no effect on the slime, Ubogri draws an arrow and fires through the open door.
Bonus: Lightning arrow
Attack 1: 15; Damage: 16 lightning damage
Be careful, there is mold and there is slime. They are two different things.
OOC: IIRC we mentioned further back the slime was harmed by the fire, but the mold absorbed it, right?
Yes, that's right.

"It appears that we only have the mold to worry about." Lumiere says, taking a step back. "I believe this is where the cold treatment is needed."

Cold doesn't work on slime!
All the slime has turned to mold.
