The shadow mumbles something in infernal as it flows towards one kid the guards, it actually enters the guards body. The eyes of the guard become black orbs…
The guards shadow however does not match his outline.
Dain takes his axe and slams it into the man’s shadow hoping to affect the creature rather than just a trick of the light.
(19 to hit, 17 dmg)
As Dain’s axe severs the connection between the guard and shadow the guard slumps to the ground breathing heavy. “What? How? The cold and loneliness was… intense.” He fully lays on the ground.
excellent work 400xp 200 each.loot- the acolytes holy symbol seems to shine even though his body is clearly dead.
Aldun walks over to Dain thanking him for what and who he is: " you saved him". He says with a little pride in his voice. Hope it was needed for the last time.
To the guard Aldun says: "close call mate. I'd pray Dain saves you again if you get possessed. I was ready to Ignite you with a fireball". He offers the guard a hand willing to pull him up. "You knew the acolyte? He wasn't lucky. Someone should inform his parents."
Looking around I spot a barrel of some sorts and point it out to Dain. "Dain...for when we're done here!."
Aldun summons André to go and inspect the next room. Telepathically he commands him to be very stealthy but also to just be a cat cause that will draw less attention
Meanwhile Aldun investigates the room (inv roll 15) for any hidden rooms and opens any window or curtain in the room (if possible) to give the room more light.
Andre wanders around finding a broken window just big enough for a cat.
As Aldun checks over the room the shadows were haunting. This room is like a tavern where Fjörn’s brew was served and new batches were taste tested, as you investigate you experience flashes of ‘memories’ but not yours.
A skinny human sitting at a corner table being ridiculed by a room full of dwarves who have been tasting a new batch most of the day ( drunk). The dark haired man looks familiar but as your flash moves quickly in walks Thrain the explorer…
Your hallucination abruptly ends as your connection with Andre is severed.
Struck by the unexpected but vivid memory Aldun sits down, unable to tell if it was a dream, a vision or maybe a heathstroke? to much stress? He decides to keep the images for himself for now. Also disturbing is the fact that André's vision just went and the connection was lost. He whispers: "look alive people, there may be more creatures lurking ahead. Andre just disappeared.
Aldun peaks in the room trying hisd best to not get spotted for a clue on what caused Andre to diosappear.

as you spot each other from across the room the specter flings the remains of the cat and flys straight at Dain. It ends its flight at p7 right besides Dain. 18 to hit 6 necrotic damage and

Aldus casts his spell seeing the specter approach but due to the stress and anxiety the streak of blue electricity shoots just left of the specter striking into a barrel.
Then seeing Dain get hit by the specter Aldun tries a fire bolt but it goes wide too. Aldun, frustrated by his own magic, yells "hang in there, I'll get him with the holy water" grabs his bag and starts searching.....

Aldun yells for the guards to come assist. At the same time he does two steps back, to make space for his spell and also put of fear trying to not look afraid. He thinks back of the words the stone lord said (heroic inspiration) and then shoots his witch bolt again at the specter attacking Dain. (roll 23 to hit - 9 lighting dmg)
While hitting the specter, the electric blue current continues to crackle the sky creating an arch between the specter and himself.

The Specter is jolted as the lightning creates a flicker flash effect. Aldun you see an image superimposed on the specter it is a prisoner of the Vel’Xarion they took the periapt from him and placed it on your neck. He sighed in relief as he finally died but what prevented his final escape kept you alive through seemingly endless torture, then in a flash the image is the drow matriarch smiling as you were disemboweled and expertly sewn back together…
Two of the guard come rushing into the tasting room, one jump fires his crossbow just missing Dain and not even close to his target.
The specter flys through Aldun on its way to the dwarven guards. Their faces are showing terror, panic, as the lightning shrouded specter grabs hold and one guard falls like a statue to the ground.
Seeing the dwarven guard fall, a shout escapes Dani’s lips “Nooooo!”
He is moving towards the specter once more before his brain even comprehends the action. His axe falling in a vain attempt to undo the death that was just caused.
Enraged and panicked by the visions Aldun vomits a bit in his mouth before he can get a grip on his emotions again. Then cold and calculated he casts a mind sliver (int save DC 13 - 6 psychic dmg) and forcing the arch of blue electricity to uncharge again on the specter ( 7 lightning dmg).
This is not how it ends right? I hope not. But maybe I have to change my expectations of expecting new messages dayly.
