Volkanica Action: Summon wildfire spirit 10 ft from the displacer beast. DC 15 DEX save (displacer beast is restrained and auto fails) or take 6 fire damage.
ooc: Restrained imposes disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws. Unfortunately, it is not an automatic fail.
As Gedyr leapt back in the last exchange, the dire wolf’s predatory instincts took hold. It lunged forward with a sudden snap of its massive jaws, aiming to catch him mid-retreat. The bite came with the weight of its body behind it, claws tearing at the earth for traction as it sought to pull him down.
Current Round
The wolf’s momentum carries it in a half-turn as Gedyr closes the gap again. To a casual observer, the beast’s movements might seem swift and savage, but to Gedyr, time feels stretched thin under the pulse of the Bladesong. He slips around the creature with agile precision, vaulting over its broad back. Mid-air, he sweeps his blade in a practiced arc, spitting the words of power meant to bind his foe in the echo of a Booming Blade.
The steel cuts only air this time, the spell fizzling without its anchor. Gedyr lands lightly, choosing to remain close, his stance low and ready for the next exchange.
The dire wolf wastes no breath, its gaze locked on the elusive target in front of it. Hackles raised, it steps in with heavy paws, circling to the side before snapping forward in another brutal bite, its breath hot and fetid in the narrow space between them. Its massive head swings with dangerous force, seeking to catch Gedyr in its jaws and drag him down into the dirt.

Volkanica
The vines tightened further as Volkanica worked her magic, the forest answering her call once more. With a sharp gesture, the air around her shimmered, and a blazing wildfire spirit took shape only ten feet from the trapped predator. Heat rippled through the space as the restrained beast twisted to avoid it, but the snare at its limbs held fast. A searing wave of flame washed over its shadow-wrapped form, drawing a low, furious growl from deep in its chest as the heat bit into flesh.
Without pause, she gave the next command. The spirit flared upward, rising thirty feet into the canopy before spitting a concentrated jet of fire toward its target. The bolt struck true, burning through the twisting haze and disrupting the displacement magic entirely. The air crackled, and the sharp scent of scorched fur cut through the damp green smell of the forest.
Keeping her distance, Volkanica stepped back, placing thirty feet between herself and the struggling creature. The magical vines and her blazing companion now stood between predator and prey. The beast’s outline no longer flickered; its location was clear. With a guttural snarl, it lashed its tentacles violently, ripping and twisting against the vines in a desperate attempt to break free. The vegetation strained but held firm, refusing to yield. As it settled again its outline flickered and became hard to determine once more as its displacement came back online.
[The displacer beast is still restrained.]
DM Notes
Wildfire Spirit Summon — DEX save vs DC 15: Fails; the beast takes 6 fire damage.
Flame Spit Attack: Attack roll 18 (at disadvantage) hits; the beast takes 5 fire damage. Displacement is disrupted until the end of the beast’s next turn.
Strength check to break free of Entangle (DC 15, disadvantage): Fails; the beast remains restrained.
The genasi grits her teeth. This beast was both tough and fast. She isn't sure whether to run, and potentially be caught again by the faster beast, or press the attack. She decides on the latter - the vines would break soon enough - hopefully she could do enough damage to force it to flee. She roars as she heats up even further.
"Rgh... RAGGHHH!!!"
She carefully puts herself closer to the beast, fires off a blast of fire, signals her companion to do the same, and then backs off once again.
Movement: 15 ft forward to cast burning hands, 15 ft back after.
Action: Cast Burning Hands at 2nd Level. DC 15 DEX save (at disadvantage) or take 16 fire date, half on success.
BA: Command wildfire beetle to spit flame seed: Attack: 22 Damage: 5 fire damage
Volkanica is attempting to be as intimidating as possible to scare away the displacer beast. Her CHA intimidation check is 10, 15 if it can be a WIS intimidation check. If she sees the displacer beast attempt to turn and run, she'll end concentration on entangle.
