Might change things a little bit when I get a better feel for the campaign/group if my application is accepted
Name: Buggorth (known as "Buggy" by most) Pronouns: he/him Class: Barbarian Background: Soldier Ancestry: Bugbear
Backstory: Considered the "runt" of the litter as he was born smaller than most bugbear and was a bit of a late bloomer, Buggorths' name became an insult among the small tribe. "Don't be a buggorth" meant "don't be useless" among the others. He was often given whatever scraps were left after a raid, and made to complete the most tedious of tasks by his kin. That is until he finally discovered his strength and was able to break free from the pack after a small party from a nearby town raided his camp and took pity upon him when finding him chained up with whip marks upon his back, doing what others thought impossible and took in a lone bugbear as one of their own.
Still waiting on one more application from Monsterball but I'm closing other applications now, thank you one and all for putting your hats in the ring. You've made this very difficult for me! I will announce the final cast in a few hours at the soonest or tomorrow at the latest.
Name: Aeithne Tallowglass Pronouns: She/Her Class: Cleric Background: Grinner Ancestry: Satyr Backstory: Aeithne Tallowglass was born in the city of Illyria in the Feywild to a family of artisans and renowned artists. Despite their encouragement, she had little aptitude in fashioning works of art with her own hands. It was something of an embarrassment at first, but she was always drawn to another calling - the spiritual life. She found joy in ministering to those suffering from despair and fostering in them hope, in studying strange omens and astrology, in encouraging the fruition of love and communion between souls. An obsession with the moon Catha was the natural consequence of her growing faith, and she became a full-blown devotee of the Moonweaver in her mid-teens.
Around about the same time, she was struck by the wanderlust that many of her ilk feel, and during one of the conjunctions of Illyria with the Material Plane, Aeithne passed over into Exandria on a whim. She was astonished by what she found in this new world, abundant in strange beauty but wrought by so much oppression. A chance meeting with a sweet-voiced pallid elf called Belvara Zeltarine in a tavern in Lyrengorn set her on a new path - Aeithne joined a secret network of freedom-fighters and idealists known as the Grinners. With Belvara, love and romance soon followed.
Together they adventured and fought in the way of freedom, focusing their attention on the rumours that a cult of slavers dedicated to the Crawling King were piecing together a text known as The Chrysalis Palimpsest, an ancient scripture they believed would help their god undergo a metamorphosis that would allow him to transform and escape the prison the Prime Deities had confined him within beneath the earth. During a race to uncover one of the pieces of the Palimpsest in a cave network in the Cliffkeep Mountains, Belvara was captured by Torog's monstrous followers and encased within some kind of hive/nesting chamber, where she was seemingly being transformed.
Aeithne was desperate to save her beloved, but her fellow Grinners on the expedition knew that if they tried to save Belvara, they would never be able to escape with the piece of the Palimpsest that they had secured. It was a dreadful, heart-breaking choice but in the end, Aeithne was forced to leave Belvara behind. The trauma of that day has never fully left Aeithne, but over the years since, she has tried to console herself through her faith in the Moonweaver. She still keeps the remnant of the Chrysalis Palimpsest on her person, travelling from town to town and ministering to those who need her aid, yet is ever wary for the followers of the Crawling King who surely seek her and the piece of scripture they surely still desire.
Hi folks! After much deliberation, I've sent out a PM to the final selection of folks. If you didn't hear from me, I'm so sorry! I will keep you all in mind in case someone drops out. Take care everyone, and happy DnDing!
