The desert wind bites like broken glass as you crest the dune. Ahead, the Glass Spire cuts into the sky, refracting the dying sun into a halo of fractured colours. Professor Senna, swaddled in scarves, mutters as she checks her satchel.
“The Spire’s glow is fading faster than I calculated. We must hurry… before it dies completely. And gods help us if something else gets there first.”
Behind you, the caravan master urges the camels forward. The ground trembles. In the distance, sand geysers erupt, each one closer than the last.
For centuries, the Glass Spire — a towering crystal obelisk in the centre of the Verdant Wastes — has pulsed with silent light, its origins long forgotten. Now, its glow falters. Rumours speak of rifts opening nearby, swallowing caravans and spewing strange creatures. Scholars beg for brave souls to investigate, and treasure hunters whisper of riches locked away beneath its foundation.
The adventurers are hired by an eccentric scholar, Professor Senna Varr, to escort her to the Spire and uncover the cause of its decay. But the journey will lead them through cursed ruins, fractured timelines, and the memories of a dead god.
I'm submitting Thisbi Bacc a Rogue/Warlock (I would like to change subclasses if accepted, but understand if that's not possible. I don't have much 2014 content)
With the mystery of the Glass Spire, Brother Frontier has offered his services to help explore and unravel the conundrum of the area and tend to any injured along the way as best as he can.
Rik Connelly - Human Fighter (Battle Master) - "Never touch anything that glows, hums, or looks like it’s been waiting a thousand years for you specifically."
Rik's not here for the history lessons. He's here to make sure the professor doesn’t end up as a skeleton in some dusty tomb. He's worked as caravan guard, shipboard muscle, and once spent three days locked in a tomb with a crate of bad dates. (Long story, ask him over a drink.)
If it shoots, he can shoot it better. If it swings, he can duck under it. And if it gets close, well… he's not above knocking a man flat with the nearest pottery.
Are you still recruiting? Since you're using 2014 PHB, I would plan on a Variant Human, Jason Castle. My character would be a Light Cleric, a follower of Tymora, specifically a Fellows of Free Fate, dedicated themselves to countering the efforts of Beshaba, and especially of the Black Fingers, her assassins. In particular, some parts of the Black Fingers traffic followers of Tymora, and Jason's goal is to free those taken, and bring to justice those who take the innocent. On one such quest, he hears a large number of Black Fingers may have taken multiple followers of Tymora to the Verdant Wastes, and possibly, some sort of Glass Spire...
If there's still openings (group 2?), let me know, and I can add more info.
I'm not sure what you mean by reasonable for starting equipment, so I added a cloak of protection to the standard starting equipment. Let me know if that's ok.
Are spots still available for group 2? If so, I'd love to throw my hat in the ring!
Name: Pelista the Patient
Class: Sorcerer
Species: Tiefling
Backstory: Formerly a part of a scavenging/bandit tribe of nomadic peoples, Pelista was known amongst his people as the most patient of them all. He would burrow into the sands like an Antlion, waiting for his prey to stumble upon him. Over time however, the harsh conditions of the Verdant Wastelands claimed most of his tribe. Now he does what mercenary work he can to afford food and water for what remains of his tribe.
Primrose was a child when the enemy attacked. But she bravely stood up to the goblins and yelled
"YOU'D BETTER RUN CAUSE I'M A WIZARD!" The goblins paused. And started laughing. That's when she grabbed the lit kerosine lamp off the table and threw it at them. "FIREBALL!"
When she went for Wizards training she chose to specialize in Necromancy, to try and use it for healing. She's very happy, smiling and chipper, wearing pink frilly clothes whenever possible. Just because you're trying to find "...The secret!...Of Life!...ITSELF!" is no reason to be morbid and depressing.
"Oh, hello", she says in a slightly embarrased tone, and covers her blush with her hand. Sne speaks with the equivalent of an upperclass british accent as she says: "I'm Primrose Perianth, of the Perianth clan, youngest child of Duke Gunnar and Duchess Odalia and 13th in line for the throne after my brothers :Peregrine, Percy, Perseus, Pericles, Percival and my sisters Petunia, Peach, Peony, Perinneal, Pearl, Peridot and Persephone. I'm determined to be the first to discover the secret of life...;ITSELF! That will allow mortals to heal and restore life to the fallen. I hope you'll add me to your group of heroes, I'll do my best to be worthy of inclusion." She gives a nervous smile, waiting for the response.
1. Send me a DM if there's a problem with Necromancy.
2. Is this game still recruiting? The most recent posts before mine are from early September.
3. The DM hasnt posted to group 1 since August 25th. Thise players quit. So it looks like this game is a dead parrot.

I'd love to play either a Dragonborn Paladin or a Dwarf Cleric.
Let me know if you want me to roll up a sheet. It just takes extra time to make a good character when I don't know if I am accepted

Hey! Would like to join with an extremely vanilla Goliath Berserker Barbarian https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/151902816
He will just be a protector of the small. Noone hurts the small!
ok, I was thinking about doing one of the following but not sure which fits best:
Variant Human Sorcerer (Draconic) Sage
Wood Elf Druid (Land—Desert) Outlander
Half-Elf Warlock (Great Old One, Pact of the Tome) Hermit
High Elf Wizard (Divination) Sage
Also, I know you said PHB 2014 but can we use Basic Rules 2014 or DM Guide 2014 for character options?
I submit Sylveen Thoven
High Elf Wizard
