Race: Shifter (Beasthide) — representing the lycanthropic blood that burns in his veins.
Class: Blood Hunter (Order of the Lycan)
Background: Haunted One
Alignment: Neutral Good (leaning toward self-loathing)
Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered man with the poise of a soldier and the sorrow of a sinner. His hair is dark and silver-threaded, his eyes an amber hue that glints too sharply in candlelight. A scar runs from his jawline into the beard that hides the rest of it — a reminder of his first transformation.
He dresses impeccably in threadbare noble attire: waistcoat, gloves, cloak — always immaculate at first glance, but the closer you look, the more you see the wear. Torn cuffs. A claw mark mended with silver thread. A faint, coppery scent of blood beneath the cologne.
When the moon rises, the illusion of civility trembles — his pupils dilate to slits, his breath becomes visible, and a low growl trembles in his throat like a heartbeat trying to escape.
Personality
Trait
Description
Manner
Old-world charm, with an edge of danger. He speaks softly, chooses his words carefully, and treats even enemies with the courtesy of a ballroom rival.
Ideal
“The beast is not my enemy — it is my reflection.” He believes that by mastering his curse, he can prove that even monsters can be noble.
Bond
He wears a locket containing a lock of hair from his lost love, Amara. Her death is the reason he turned against Strahd.
Flaw
Gregor believes he deserves damnation. When cornered or enraged, he stops trying to control himself — almost as if to confirm what he fears he is.
Backstory
Gregor Varin was once the Huntsman of Barovia, serving under Count Strahd von Zarovich. Gifted with unmatched skill in tracking, he led the pack that hunted rebels, thieves, and prey for the Count’s nightly entertainments.
But the hunts changed him — not metaphorically. Strahd, amused by Gregor’s loyalty, granted him a “gift”: the blood of a werewolf noble slain by the Count centuries ago. The curse took hold, and Gregor became something more than mortal, less than free.
For years, he served as the Count’s enforcer — until he fell in love with Amara Daskal, a human musician whose songs were said to soothe even the restless dead. Strahd coveted her too. When she refused him, she vanished. Gregor found her body days later, drained of blood and discarded in the woods.
In that moment, he turned on his master. He led a doomed rebellion among Barovia’s cursed, tearing through vampire spawn and beasts alike until Strahd himself descended upon him. Gregor was beaten, cursed anew — his soul bound to the Mists, doomed to wander domains where love and rage feed on each other like wolves.
Now, he hunts not for blood, but for atonement — and for a way to break the curse of all who bear the monster within.

In the dark realms of Ravenloft, a war had raged for several millennia between two individuals
The Lich, Azalin - and the First Vampire, Count Strahd von Zarovich. Both men are constantly trying to one up each other, and destroy each other.. but Azalin has had other goals in mind… escaping the prison that is the Mists of Ravenloft. He has tried everything from dark sciences, to manipulating prophecies and cycles of the moon and time itself, even working with his greatest rival - and none of it has worked. But.. he came close, and through utilizing a new occurrence in the lands nonetheless… objects known as Amber Sarcophagi, and would’ve escaped were it not for a band of adventurers and their meddling.
However, in Ravenloft, eyes are everywhere.. and in Ravenloft, someone is always watching. An astute scholar, mage and nobleman by the name of Firan Zal’honan learned of Azalin’s exploits, and seeks to replicate them for the greater good of the countless souls trapped for all eternity in Ravenloft and allow for their freedom - and more importantly to stop the damned souls from escaping into the outer worlds beyond the Mists and accomplishing their machinations.
Now, a group of adventurers has found themselves within the Mists, and Firan has his eye on them - knowing so daunting a task cannot be accomplished alone.
Who will step forward and set forth to free the souls trapped within the Domains of Dread?
