Almost six years have passed already since the last time you were here. I remember very well everything you and Gandalf said when we met. You were alarmed, and I took your warnings
to heart, but I don’t think you would find it surprising to know that news of a nameless threat is hard to believe herein the dear old Shire. Gandalf came to see me again, on several
occasions. He seems to care about our friendship, and he says I should indeed be worried, but his vague words of warning
make even less of a dent in the general sense of peace and protection that we enjoy here, away in the north-west.But don’t t think that I am completely clueless!
All I need to do is have a look at… the things I collected in my adventures to remember that there is a wide and dangerous world out there.Sometimes I even miss it, the road, the thrill, the narrow escapes.
It’s my Tookish side. But then I look at my beautiful garden, my snapdragons and sunflowers, my trailing nasturtians…
how they glow, red and golden, more beautiful than any Dragon-hoard that ever was, and I am back to being a Baggins.
I hope that what I say won’t be too much of a disappointment to you. You haven’t t asked yet, but I know that you mean to invite me to join you in that Moria adventure you are always talking about. I am afraid that I have spent enough
time crawling in the dark under the Misty Mountains not to wish to do that ever again! But there’s a good bunch of eager lads and lasses here that you might find to your liking.
Why, they are just waiting for no more than a nod in their direction from me or from our Grey friend to go off into the blue on mad adventures! Theirs is an age that is more appropriate to that type of business, believe me, and I have
taught them a thing or two. I suspect that Gandalf has too...
From a letter from Bilbo Baggins,
Esq. to Balin son of Fundin.
I am looking to run a game of The Lord of the Rings Role Playing Game (5E).
I will be up front and say I don’t have the best track record of running PBP. However this will be a good game. Let me know if you have interest. We will be using that ruleset.
I am interested! I’ve been curious about doing this since they came out with it. I don’t have the LOTR sourcebooks though so character creation would have to happen after you share them through the campaign.
can you explain the “I don’t have the best track record of running PBP” part? Do you ghost the campaign? Lose interest after a few months?
2. I tried over the years to run 2 games and my health issues got the best of me. That’s all. 3. I am looking to post every 2 days or so. 4. looking for 4-5 players tops.
I've played a lot of The One Ring rpg so I'd be happy to play its 5e cousin. Don't have the AiME books though, got a bunch of TOR books but that doesn't help with mechanics.....
As for the track record, eh....however long it lasts for is however long it lasts for.

Ok I am still very interested. I would ask that if you do decide to stop the campaign at some point, to just send the group a message. Nothing worse than a disappearing act (from a DM or player!)
But if I click on a class I get the ad to buy the book. Which brings me around to making a character. I am interested in the warden, but not sure what that is. I assume I can do a DnD character? I also notice I am holding some characters so I assume I have to insert a character I don't plan to use at 1st. I see I posted one and still saw nothing but another character.
How can you share the books so I can see about creating a character?

Join the campaign. Build a character as normal but the options for the AiME characters are at the bottom of your options lists.
Wondering if I can get by with a ranger (can be a halfling if wanted, but I'm keeping him human for now). Have put him in the campaign.

Depressed teenager, nonchalant, really likes to write. Rather strange, Thrushcross Grange ‘twixt stars as dawn now turns to night. DM: Liquid Swords - A Historical Wuxia Campaign, In the Depths - A Fantasy Homebrew Flying Pig Cultist of the Cult of Flying Pigs (don't ask) No matter who you are, you’re great. Don’t let anyone ever get you down. PM me if you want to talk, rant, and/or learn too much about words. Extended sig here, check it out!
As I go though the classes, I realize if I want warden, I need some background knowledge. Can widowleaf give me a hint?
Beginning at 1st level, you have significant experience studying, tracking, and hunting the servants of the Shadow. Choose a kind of favoured foe: Beasts, Evil Men, Giants, Monstrosities, Orcs, or Undead.
You are particularly familiar with the lands you have sworn to protect and are adept at travelling and surviving in such regions. Choose one warded land from among the following: Arthedain, Cardolan, Enedwaith, Eregion, Lindon, and Rhudaur (the Loremaster may wish to expand or alter this list depending on the chosen setting).
Man of the east, Vassal in charge of trade with Lake-town/the Lonely Mountain. Stricken with wanderlust after meeting a wood elf that spoke of Bilbo's travel to the Mountain and back.
Need the to pick my sworn enemy and one section of land. Hope the DM can give me a hint as I do not know any of this.
A traveling druid?? found me (sole survivor) as a very young child in a wagon train that had been destroyed/robbed by bandits. That savior was a loner/warden in the woods and when I was entering my teen years, he took me to a wagon train to continue my education. I became a teamster wandering the lands and driving wagons.

1. I have the book. I would sharez

I am interested, but I only have the 2024 PHB. What would I need?

I am interested in joining this campaign. I have experience with 5e as a DM and Player.
I am interested as I said earlier and I see the DM can share books, so what is next?
Indeed, would you like us to post character concepts here? Its called Shire Adventures so is it Hobbits only/majority?
I think I'd be interested too
As far character options go you can be elf, dwarf, etc

The first 4-5 characters created are in.
I see a list of character classes here. https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes

I've made a dwarven traveller/mapmaker. WIll get to backstory etc. in a bit. I assume Level 1?
Join the campaign. Build a character as normal but the options for the AiME characters are at the bottom of your options lists.
I added a placeholder character. Will update today.
Sounds cool!

There are no rangers in the book. Please chose a different calling.
