Aydlott spurs his horse away from the attacking locust, and galloping around the field, his eye on the farmer as he cuts down the first pest. Two more flying in. Aydlott drops his wrist, aims his crossbow, and snaps a bolt off at the one closest to the farmer. He swears as the bolt bounces harmlessly off of the insect's carapace.
Action: Crossbow to hit: Nat 1 Horse Action: Disengage Horse Movement: Move 60 feet away from original locust, circling around the field to stay within crossbow range, but hopefully out of melee, with the locusts
*frick all the notifications from this have been getting buried... what's happening?*
(OOC: We had dinner with the farmer, and now his crops are being attacked by giant, firey locusts, which are now attacking us. So, Vulcan is now in a battle that maybe they didn't want... sorry.)
*That's okay. I'll roll init when I get to his sheet which I... currently cannot find.*
(OOC: Now we wait to see if Vulcan's character sheet has been found yet...)
"Yeah it was a trail south of here, but I was there before him and after he was. He just flew in probed my mind and flew....."
He trails off the look of an idea coming across his face, he looks at Kyvir,
"I don't know much about actual magic, just tricks, but what about you. He put his hand on my head and read my mind or saw my past or something. "
He hesitates, then asks plainly:
“Is it possible to trace it? Any remnants of whatever he did? Reverse it… follow it back to him?”
“Because if he can get into my head, maybe that means we can find him.”
"I'm sure it is, but that is magic that is well beyond what I can do... My magic is more.... Natural... More connected to nature... Not so much, that kind."

However, your own hurt is suddenly secondary to another issue ---- the farmer has gone down, smoke erupting from the two creatures below as he tries to fend them off prone. He shouts, swinging his blade, and one of them suddenly falls ---- but the other one continues to advance, stabbing its pincers down as he rolls away.

(OOC: Aydlott did take his turn - post # 143. We may have to skip Vulcan, though)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: Also, please clarify: is there still one on Kravik, one on Aydlott, and one on the farmer? Just trying to picture which one went down.)
Depending on the answer to that, on Kravik's next turn, he'll attack the one that keeps hitting him, in order to get himself over to give assistance to the farmer. If he's clear to get to the farmer now, he'd attack the one still on him.
Since he moved, is there still a locust attacking him? A 13 will miss regardless so I'll take his next turn, fitting at the locust attacking the farmer.)
Aydlott turns his horse, still galloping around the field, and turns to ride straight at the locust attacking the farmer with a shout of defiance. This shot goes better, striking true into the heart of the insect as its legs flail out at the farmer.
Kyvir begins to think, wondering if he does in fact know anyone who could do that in town.
(Not sure what check, if there is one, to roll here.)
(OOC: Let's say History. You know the general layout (in the social sense) of the town. Also: I will be sporadically, possibly not at all, posting for the next two weeks as winter break takes effect, just to let y'all know)

Rapier: Attack: 19 Damage: 10
Additional radiant damage on a hit: 4
(OOC: One on each.)
Aydlott and Kravik raise their weapons, cries resounding loud across the plain. Aydlott's arrow strikes true, and the farmer scrambles back, getting up on his feet as he holds his fork and stabs at the creature. It writhes in pain, but doesn't quite fall ---- while Kravik's does, destroyed by a burst of radiant energy.

(OOC: Sorry, I just realized it's probably my turn - I had to go back and check everything, and also realized I'd been taking my turn before Aydlott the last couple of times despite coming *after* in initiative - sorry about that.
Is there still the one locust, or did Aydlott's last attack - post 153 - take it out?)
You’ve heard tale of many a witch who could do this magic, but those are the tales of old wives and the like. You do know that the fae are dangerous creatures if provoked…and entering their territory unknown could be dangerous —- yet they are the sorts to be able to perform that sort of magic.

Thanks! I don't think it would do any good to take a prisoner, so we'll have to put it out of its misery. I don't know if I'd have advantage or not if it's defenseless, so I'll assume not as I got at it with my rapier.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
So that was a nat 20 critical hit, so I need to roll another 1d4 for the radiant damage, as I hadn't assumed a crit in the last one
Additional Radiant damage: 2
Plus, just to be sure, I will also be using Divine Smite.
Even more Radiant damage: 10
If it somehow survives all of that, I would also burn a Channel Divinity to use Dao's Crush:
Dao’s Crush. Earth rises up around the target of your Divine Smite. The target has the Grappled condition (escape DC equal to your spell save DC). While Grappled, the target has the Restrained condition.
