As most of you scatter in search of a hiding spot, Leosin looks left, then right and limps towards the brush, ducking between a couple of thick bushes. You've barely had time to get behind cover when a wild cackling comes from around the bend in the road, followed by unintelligible Goblin shouting, but you all sense the triumph and excitement in it. A loud roar cuts the silence that has suddenly filled the area and a moment later the source of the noise appears.
Erv sits high in a crude saddle on top of a green ambush drake, flanked by five other goblins, carrying scimitars. "Ohohohoh, boyyyyzz,"his shrill voice grates through the air like broken glass. "Lookit this. Aren't we lucky?"
The beast's yellow eyes immediately fix on Montar as the group slows to a halt about twenty feet away.
The drake's snout twitches and it lifts its head to taste the air. It lets out a low, vibrating growl that you can feel in your teeth. Erv cocks his head, his eyes darting towards the bushes and the trees, where Leosin and Amadeus are poorly concealed. It's clear he's just playing a theatre as his lips stretch in a wide, yellow-toothed smile and he leans forward in his saddle, resting his grimy hands on the pommel as he looks at the dwarf.
"You wouldn't happen to have seen a trio of gnomes rushing by, would ya, dwarf? Maybe one who looks a tad too pretty for a raider among them?"
His companions burst into high-pitched mocking cackles as they fan out slightly. The drake growls again, its long tail swishing the air.
Montar stands his ground and answers truthfully. "Nay, I have not." He hoists the heavy stone of his hand-made maul easily and stares down the goblin. "Anythin' else?"
"Is that so?"Erv says casually and licks his lips, his fingers fiddling with the reins for a moment. "There's just one more thing, yes, thank you very much for asking..."
There is a subtle click and the clasp of the reins opens. "Who in the hells is that PRETTY BOY peeking from behind those trees THEN? Get them boyzzz!"he screeches as he points at the partially visible sorcerer.
Everyone roll initiative.
The trees provide half cover (i.e. you get +2 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws), while the rock provides total cover.
For I am Death and I won't break. I got a life I've got to take. When will it end, this sufferin' of late? It was nice to know you. __The Pretty Reckless
Draylin, Tam and Amadeus, take your turns. You have advantage (Draylin and Tam because of their stealth and Amadeus against the target he used True strike against).
Tam sees the situation going south. Needing to get into better range for her hand crossbow, she dashes across the road to some trees, hoping they will provide some cover still. She fires off her crossbow at the nearest goblin.
Amadeus takes up his crossbow, aims for the rider atop the strange beast before him, holds his breath and fires.
[Attack w/Advantage: 17, Damage: 3]
He doesn't think he misses, but he can't help noticing the bolt flies a tad... off.
"Bugger all...!" A sharp curse can be heard behind the trees, followed by the tentative struggle of the gnome as he begins reloading a crossbow almost as tall as he. Not the worst first shot, he thinks with a grimace. Not the best, either, but better for a man who's never fired in his life!
A pair of daggers whipped out of the tall grass in quick succession, both sailing wide of the goblin sitting atop the snarling drake.
Only those closest to the half elf could hear the language most foul spewing from his lips. With a deep steadying breath, he stood calmly and stepped out of the grass, placing himself between Amadeus and the goblins. He shoots Leosin a concerned look across the road, but trusted his brother to keep out of harms way. Locking eyes with him briefly, he flashed a subtle hand sign meaning defense. He hoped the veteran monk would listen and find a way to keep from getting more injuries

Draylin's daggers miss the screaming goblin.
Leosin appears from between the brushes and throws a dart towards Goblin 2, then ducks again (to hit 10). His dart misses too.
Montar swings his maul at goblin 2, connecting with a loud and sickening thump. *attack: 19, damage: 13*. Hoping that the casual display might convince them to rethink their actions, he says calmly, "Weren't trained too well, were ye?" If Draylin is able to do so too, Montar encourages the lot of them to take cover in the trees now that the fight has been engaged, but if it's too late, Montar stands his ground for the goblins counterattack

Montar smiles grimly. "I haven't seen a trio, aye, 'n that's the truth! Should've asked a better question."
(Montar is on a 12)
"Hells...!" curses the gnome Lord, his eyes sharpening towards the rider before him. At least the spell is working.
