"Not your thieves, but as the seer so artfully rhymes, we do believe we have happened upon the muzha-dahyarif responsible. Some ill-begotten knave who traipsed out of town under the cover of night and was whisked away upon a sled drawn by an ogre. We followed the tracks to a stronghold near Kelvin's Cairn, the residents of which were not quite as welcoming as your local tavern-keep. The hand behind these misdeeds may also have a confederate who resides in the town itself, for there were footprints that led back here to Caer Konig." Zuleikha explains, helping Trovus to his feet and dusting snow off his apparel. "Do you know anything about this, Speaker?"
As she awaits an answer, her gaze casts about for some trace of the tracks that the party did not investigate earlier that evening.
Marva stumbles up to her bed and collapses. She dreams of dwarves with foaming mugs of ale being pulled on sleds by ogres. She makes plans for the afternoon to ask Torvus, Glen, and the owner of the Frozenfar Expeditions if they trade regularly with the Battlehammer dwarves.

Ellora is relieved to be back at her room, crashing into bed and sleeping with her winter gear on for some time before waking up due to the warmth, making an effort to undress and slip under her bedcovers, then sleeping soundly long into the next day.
Dvu is curious to hear the thoughts of Trovus after they relay their discovery of where the theives are located. “Once everyone is rested, we need to come up with a plan on how to approach this place, if we wish to do so. All of us are chilled to the bone." Dvu goes over to the fire in the inn and warms up, then heads upstairs to rest himself.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
It is no surprise that Trovus has little to report, being as he spent last night first in a bottle then in a snowdrift. He congratulates you for finding the hideout and does not seem concerned about one or more ogres nearby and beings sneaking into his town. Ye likely saw the tracks of a polar bear or human with weird feet being tha' ogres are rare here. I'd better see what is happening a't'a Hook and Stinker. Might round up a person or two to help with this outpost later today. You would be more confident in his assessment and beginning of a notion of a plan if he even knew the name of the tavern in his town.
You complete a nice Long Rest (everyone has one less level of Exhaustion) and wake up to see that it is pitch black, with a wind you can hear through the walls that promises to make tonight even colder than normal. The weak sun gave up its battle against the night several hours ago and the stars and moon are blocked by the clouds. It is the perfect time for a sneak attack ... and that what happens to Caer-Konig.
You hear a scream from one of the two sisters running the Northern Lights Inn where you are staying followed by angry shouts from one or more unknown assailants. You descend the stairs to see a gray dwarf in the lobby / kitchen area - a duergar only 30' away! You hear the sounds of mayhem elsewhere in Caer-Konig and guess you were followed from the outpost back to town. You hope Trovus and the townsfolks can mobilize quickly to protect themselves since the duergar and ogre (who must be around here somewhere) must have decided to take matters into their own hands rather than wait at the outpost for your own action.
Hearing a scream, Marva grabs her equipment and rushes down the stairs. “Hmmm…not the right dwarves, I think,” she mutters to herself as she calls down radiant fire on the duergar in the lobby. She glaces out the door by the stairs to see if there are other invaders in sight.
Action: Sacred Flame, Dex save 13, Damage: 2 radiant damage
(OOC: Edited to add that Marva would be at H4 if she has enough movement. I only just noticed that you assigned letters and numbers to the grid.)
Ophelia has been up for some time, needing only four hours for her elven trance, which of course is strangely similar to her dreamy waking state anyway.
The she-elf surrounds herself with the now familiar lavender glow and, upon glimpsing the duergar in the lobby, she calls out to Marva.
"Dwarves they are, as you did say Yet these ones sour, cold and gray."
She pulls the longbow from her back with her usual lack of martial skill, yet the arrow she looses curves towards the duergar with warbling radiance.
Movement: Ophelia descends the stairs far enough for a clean shot on the duergar, then steps out of the way of her melee-focused allies if she can. Bonus Action: Ophelia calls upon her Innate Sorcery - advantage on spell attack rolls and +1 to spell DC. Action: Ophelia casts True Strike with her longbow, targeting the duergar, at advantage thanks to Innate Sorcery. True Strike with longbow to hit: 12, re-rolled (again, 3rd die) with Seeking Spell Metamagic, 18 True Strike with longbow damage: 9 (radiant)
Drift will appear at the top of the stairs, net in hand, having woken from a dream about man-sized chwingas. If he can reach closely enough, he will throw the net at the Duergar. Dex save DC 13
[Target a creature you can see within 15 feet of yourself. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 plus your Dexterity modifier and Proficiency Bonus) or have the Restrained condition until it escapes. The target succeeds automatically if it is Huge or larger.]
Hearing the scream as she is pouring through the pages of the spell book she had acquired, Ellora quickly is out of her room and down the stairs enough to catch sight of the grey dwarf, swiftly unleashing a bolt of searing white flames towards it.
Dvu rushes down the stairs, casting shillelagh on his wooden mace as he does so. He moves to D4 and swings it at the duergar, but the gray dwarf manages to duck the swing and he growls at the thing, readying himself for next round.
Zuleikha skips down the stairs in an upbeat mood, when she is startled by the sounds of screaming. She draws her swords at once, slides down the bannister to the ground floor, and fixes her gaze on the source of the commotion.
"Ah, a new member of the household staff? I don't believe we've had the pleasure of being introduced..."She says, her tone delightedly amiable and reasonable even as violence erupts in the Northern Light inn. She takes a pair of half-hearted swipes at the duergar with her glowing blades, giving the grey dwarf the opportunity to surrender. "Now whatever is going on, I suggest you calm things down by laying down your weapons and taking a seat. You are hopelessly outnumbered, my good dwarf. And as a rule, I would rather not take a life before I have had my morning porridge."
MOVEMENT: 30ft to engage with the duergar. BONUS ACTION: Divine Favor. ACTION: Attack. Shortsword. To hit: 13. Damage: 7. Divine Favour damage: 3 Two weapon fighting, light weapon attack with advantage due to Vex weapon mastery. To hit: (10, 8). Damage: 9. Divine Favour damage: 1. REACTION: Opportunity attack with Shortsword if duergar moves out of her reach. To hit: 17. Damage: 6. Divine Favour damage: 1.
Marva, Ophelia, and Ellora light the duergar up for 20 damage, which makes him bloody but angry. Drift's net falls well-short of its target, Dvu swings his staff wide of the mark, and Zuleikha's attack is blocked by its shield.
The duergar's naturally grumpy disposition gets worse with your attacks. It swings its war pick ineffectually at Dvu before turning invisible. However, Dvu sees there is a second duergar, this one which is much larger than the first, when the Enlarged duergar throws a javelin that harmlessly hits the wall behind Dvu.
Marva sees people running in the cold Icewind Dale night with less than their usual amount of clothing on away from the Inn and the Tavern, but cannot tell who is friend or foe.
(OOC - Sorry, but I failed my INT roll on using the fancy map, so we are back to old-school graph paper. Still 5' per square. I believe I have translated positions accurately but welcome corrections. D1 is a faded circle since it is now invisible and that is the last place you saw it.)
Ophelia stares puzzled as one duergar vanishes. She squeezes downstairs past Drift, only to gape as she glimpses the larger one.
She turns, puzzled to the cartographer, mumbling: Were they Ogre tracks that led away? Hauling loot upon their sleigh? Or large-ish duergar, who's to say?
She nocks and looses another warbling lavender-infused arrow at the larger gray dwarf, the one she can see. Then moves to the door to glance outside.
Movement: W - W (difficult terrain past Drift?) - W - W - NW (just SE of the door, peeking outside as Marva had) Bonus Action: (None) Action: True Strike with longbow targeting larger duergar (advantage from Innate Sorcery), to hit: 14, damage: 8 (radiant)
If attacked, Ophelia uses a Luck point to impose disadvantage on the first attack roll. She also has the Shield spell available as a Reaction.
Drift will step down from the stairs and withdraw his wand, his fingers bone tired, he moves the wand in an intricate pattern, and casts Faerie Fire with it covering from D8 to D5. Dex Save DC13.
(If the second goes invisible and fails its save it won’t benefit. If the first has moved toward its ally it may be outlined in violet light)
Marva closes her eyes for a moment, takes a deep breath, and whispers, “I need a bit more oomph…” She gestures toward the larger duergar and a bolt of light flies toward them.
Action: Guiding Bolt, attack roll 10; if we have advantage from Faerie Fire, then attack is 21, damage 17

"In most civilised societies, it is considered highly discourteous to depart without so much as a word of leave taking." Zuleikha tsks, shaking her turbaned head like a displeased governess when the duergar turns invisible, though her smile is one of amused reproach. "If it falls on me to teach you etiquette, I warn you, I will be a stern tutor."
"Ah, another new face. Perhaps you are more gracious than your cousin? Welcome, welcome!" The paladin says upon catching sight of the larger duergar. She dances forward, a series of slashes of her glowing blades carving the air before her, leaving trails of luminous crescents that pass through Drift's fey lights as they attempt to adhere to the gray dwarves.
MOVEMENT: If duergar 1 becomes visible as a result of Faerie Fire, she moves to engage with that one. Otherwise, she moves to C7 to engage with the duergar 2. BONUS ACTION: None. ACTION: Attack. Shortsword. To hit: (8, 10). Damage: 6. Divine Favour damage: 2. Two weapon fighting, light weapon attack with advantage due to Faerie Fire or Vex weapon mastery. To hit: (15, 25). Natural 20! Damage: 11. Divine Favour damage: 5. REACTION: Opportunity attack with Shortsword if an enemy moves out of her reach. To hit: (16, 23). Damage: 9. Divine Favour damage: 1. OTHER: Scheherazade flies down the stairs and out the door on the left of the map, to get a better view of what is occurring outside.
The white-haired woman snarls as the elusive duergar disappears. She then moves down the stairs enough to catch sight of it's enlarged kin, swiftly unleashing another bolt of searing white flames towards it.
You quickly but ineffectually shift from the unseen to the seen enemy. Ophelia's arrow from the longbow thunks resoundingly but harmlessly in D2's shield. Drift's Faerie Fire creates a fun effect for Zuleikha to run through but does not highlight either duergar. Zuleikha's charge places her near the enlarged duergar but results in two swings and misses (no ADV from Faerie Fire or the first VEX attack). Marva blows a sizable chunk in the wall of the kitchen but does not hit her target. Ellora pops out long enough to further damage the kitchen walls while missing her target.
Ophelia moves to the front door and Scheherazade goes outside and what they see is mayhem. A few buildings are on fire and people are running about. You hear Trovus shouting in an oddly authoritative voice, "everyone to me, we must protect the tavern!" You cannot see what exactly it is that is threatening the tavern, though.
D1 remains invisible (its spot on the map is just where you last saw it). If a duergar could ever be said to be happy, it is when they are doing hard violent work. With the arrival of Zuleikha, D2 is as happy as a duergar can be, swinging its war pick aggressively and growling when the colorful paladin skips safely out of its arc.
Marva huffs in frustration as her more powerful spell misses. “Let’s try something different,” she says as she runs just past Dvu and unleashes a controlled burst of frost into the larger duergar.
Movement: Run to D5
Action: Breath weapon in a 30’ line, 5’ wide from D6 to D11; Dex save 12, cold damage 2 (1 point cold damage if they save)
