In any case, MEP 1-HARKNAIL thought it best to identify itself. In a somewhat robotic sounding voice it said, "I am MEP 1-HARKNAIL. I am sharing this body with Vespera Glint."
Continuing with a normal feminine voice, "Do you guys have something like Harknail inside of you?"
The young monk takes a step back, “possession?” He thinks to himself. Then his mouth drops open.
Comes up and says, "I was MEP 2, and found this dead body on the beach, i was able to invade its now defunct consciousness. I am glad to see you."
Again in his head he thinks, “and the undead! What am I doing!” Just as he is about to turn and run MEP-RU pushes a thought into Silverlining’s mind while suppressing the flight instinct and replacing it with a calming sensation.
[Remember to quiet the mind, look upon the situation from another angle, trust your training. Clearly you all have been through much trauma. Perhaps these are but coping mechanisms. Does the gnome really have the look of the dead about them? And the Tiefling changing her voice, perhaps some head injury after all. You may not know that which they speak of, this Ehmeepea or HARKNAIL, but perhaps it’s a word for a higher being, an inner light. And close your mouth, that’s no way to meet people.]
The monk straightens up a bit and his mouth snaps shut. “I am Featherweight Silverlining. I know not of what you speak, Harknail, but I know within each of us is an inner light for good. If this is as you mean, then yes, I have a strong connection to that.”
”And with an inner light, perhaps we should help.” He looks back at the beach at the few survivors still coming ashore. As Silverlining is yet unaware of the battle for the crystal, he may need a bit of prompting to head that way. (OOC; I currently imaging Silverlining as being unarmed, having just survived the crash. When there is a break from the fighting, he would gather what he could from the wreckage and thereby have his inventory items. But for now, he just has the clothes on his back.)
OOC - So have you guys heard of Dungeons and Dragons Online ? (I have been playing that one for almost 20 years now)
I had heard of Dungeons and Dragons online, but never tired it. I am playing Balders Gate 3 online with some friends, which is D&D 5e with a computer game master and a detailed 3d world for the characters to move around in.
Vespera says, "Harknail was telling me that the only town here was under attack by skeletons and zombies, and that if we wanted to have a safe place to stay, we needed to fight them." Looking at those recovering on the beach she adds, "Nothing I can do for the people here anyway."
With that she continues in the towards the grotto where the undead are coming from.
Vespera is about 6 sec (1 round) ahead, going towards the grotto.
Silverling feels an urge to follow the Tiefling towards the grotto, he isn’t quite sure other than a possible connection to the inner light she mentioned.
Inside, MEP-RU has flooded the monk’s adrenal with enough hormones to feel a level of commitment to her for now. [Follow your heart and do what is right. Eliminate the threat to the village. Oh, and maybe find a suitable stick to use as a staff on the way.]
You get the surprise round, because the undead were not heading your way. After that they act on initiative count of 14. Zombie and zombie go one each for Manny and Vespera. The skele (no bow, all are unarmed) goes for Silverling (or Silverlining as per char sheet ?).
Please roll several attacks each, so we can finish this. Once in the crypt you can get a map if you like and more fancy options. These ones, they just straight up fight, no fancy required.
(You can role-play your combat however you like. Assume AC 13 for skeleton, AC 8 for zombies. You can help each other or not, your call. They are not sart so they just for as I sai , for one of you each. So flanking would be possible etc, describe the combat as you see it then we can all pick which one was the coolest when i get back from work.)
Drawing both daggers as she approaches the zombie, Vespera whispers, "How do you kill something that is already dead?"
HARKNAIL recalls what he had seen of the villagers fighting the undead. It also consults the AI database, merges the information, and tells Vespera mentally where it thinks will be the most effective places to strike.
Vespera nods, then closes in to attack one of the zombies from the side where it couldn't see her coming (for advantage on first attack), aiming for its weak spot.
(dice rolls in game log)
Round 1 Attack with advantage 24 (hit) for 4 piercing and 5 sneak attack damage, 9 total. Offhand second attack (no advantage): 17 (hit) for 3 piercing damage. Realizing that this might take a while, Vespera sheathes her main hand dagger!
Round 2 Draw shortsword in main hand Attack with short sword: 8 (hits only cause it's a zombie) for 5 piercing damage Offhand attack with dagger: 10 (hit) for 4 piercing damage
Round 3 Attack with short sword: 21 (hit) for 4 piercing damage Offhand attack with dagger: 13 (hit) for 3 piercing damage
Round 4 Attack with short sword: 18 (hit) for 5 piercing damage Offhand attack with dagger: 22 (hit) for 3 piercing damage
Realizing that it would have been much smarter for her to double up and take one out a time, so that she could get sneak attack damage and maybe flanking every round. Once she reaches second level she'll be able to dance in and out of combat, but she can't do that yet. I figure she's attacking alone because she's not used to working with others. But if someone else suggests that, she'll give it a try (may need more sneak attack dice rolls in that case)
OOC: I never received note about what we actually have. I have 3 weapons on my sheet I can remove if needed. Depending on the weapon; my to hit and damage is different. If I can just pick a weapon, I will grab a Sling and I will write appropriately. If I have no weapon I hit with my fist. I understand I get a move action first then I can do a bonus action and follow with a attack action.
The hunting dagger showed up as a non magical weapon. I can swap it out for a regular dagger. It adds a little extra: Returning: This weapon magically returns to the wielder’s hand immediately after it is used to make a ranged attack. Temperate: The bearer suffers no harm in temperatures as cold as −20 degrees Fahrenheit or as warm as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Compass: The wielder can use an action to learn which way is north.
Round 1
For the first Zombie it will be one on one. If I can destroy the first zombie, All things being equal, I will probably lean toward attacking the Skeleton at range (depends on movement needed). If I have no sling, I will go after the Skeleton with my fist, unless Vespa needs help first.
For the Zombie ging after me. Assuming no opportunity attack against me. I Move back so I am about 30 feet (inside short range for Sling) BA = Cantrip magic stone (to hit +6/D6+4 bludgeon damage) then attack. Following rounds try to keep distance and every 3rd round cast cantrip Magic Stones to replenish my stones.
OR
If the above is not acceptable and/or Zombie has an opportunity attack against me, then move close and use a Rapier (to hit +3/D8+3 piercing damage) (no magic use)
Manny thinks for a moment before answering..."Yes I am very similar...much like Harknail...yet still different."
The Dragonborn approaches Vespera as the gnome also arrives. “Is all well with you?” He asks as she stands upright.
The young monk takes a step back, “possession?” He thinks to himself. Then his mouth drops open.
Again in his head he thinks, “and the undead! What am I doing!” Just as he is about to turn and run MEP-RU pushes a thought into Silverlining’s mind while suppressing the flight instinct and replacing it with a calming sensation.

OOC - So have you guys heard of Dungeons and Dragons Online ? (I have been playing that one for almost 20 years now)
No.
Manny Fernandez gets bitten by a flea. Vespera Glint gets bitten by a mosquito. Featherlight Silverlining gets bitten by a horse-fly.
I think I mentioned before, it might start to rain soon.
The waves form the sea go whoosh - whash.
There is a sand beetle running around.
Moans and groans from some of the ship wrecked ppl, no sound or movement from others.
There is a very gentle breeze coming from the South.
I had heard of Dungeons and Dragons online, but never tired it. I am playing Balders Gate 3 online with some friends, which is D&D 5e with a computer game master and a detailed 3d world for the characters to move around in.
ooc - BG 3 is awesome. Played a duo with my wife. We had tons of fun. Then I made a solo run, no party, with an assassin rogue. :) Was fun.
Another of them crawling hands actually just strolls by you all, ignoring you. It seems to be heading towards the lying ppl on the beach.
It s bit far, but you also see 2 x zombies and a skeleton pass from J towards L (grotto towards town).
There also seem to be more of them birds in the sky.
Vespera is about 6 sec (1 round) ahead, going towards the grotto.
Night night :)
Vespera stabs the crawling hand, while saying in an exasperated voice, "Oh, all right."
{She's responding out load to Harknail silently telling her to kill it.}
Attack 19 for 7 piercing damage (rolled in game log)
Silverling feels an urge to follow the Tiefling towards the grotto, he isn’t quite sure other than a possible connection to the inner light she mentioned.
Inside, MEP-RU has flooded the monk’s adrenal with enough hormones to feel a level of commitment to her for now. [Follow your heart and do what is right. Eliminate the threat to the village. Oh, and maybe find a suitable stick to use as a staff on the way.]
Manny also heads to follow both Silvering and Vespera, jogging a bit to narrow that 6 second gap.
You get the surprise round, because the undead were not heading your way. After that they act on initiative count of 14. Zombie and zombie go one each for Manny and Vespera. The skele (no bow, all are unarmed) goes for Silverling (or Silverlining as per char sheet ?).
