Marin scales the rigging like a green-skinned monkey after some bananas quickly making it up to the crow's nest.
It wasn't just that he wanted to investigate the crow's nest but also secure it as a post for him to oversee the rest of ship and also snipe any zombies, if there were any, from a relatively safe place.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Irtos, you climb the stairs to the forecastle. The broken foremast leans out across a broken railing, with a tangle of rigging and tattered canvas trailing down to the rocks and dragon bones below. A rusted and rotting ballista stands near the broken mast. It is quite clear to you that the ballista no longer works, and there is nothing really of interest to find here.
Onji, the splintered remains of a mast jut up from this rear deck like a broken spear. The ship’s wheel is askew, dislodged from its mechanism. The wheel bears the name of the ship -- Compass Rose -- engraved and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, though in the wheel’s current position the name is upside down. Are you going to turn the wheel?
Marin, the mast sways as you climb, and at the top of the 50-foot climb, you find that you are leaning out over the water on the north side of the ship. The basket area is stuffed with wood shavings, dry grass, and shredded canvas from ships' sails. You can see bits of bones, tufts of hair, and shiny baubles amidst all that. Marin, feel free to give me an Investigation roll.
Dirk, you fashion your mud wolf. Do you send him down to through the open hatch or the staircase?
The mud wolf dives through the hatch. A few moments pass before Dirk hears splashing and moaning - sounds not unlike those the drowned sailors made on the beach earlier. Within seconds, the mud wolf is destroyed. From the noise and the stench of decaying flesh, the ranger can make out at least two enemies on the lower deck, and he is fairly certain they are zombies like the ones the group faced before.
Onji, you notice that the ship's wheel is barely held to its base. The slightest touch would likely send it spinning or tumbling across the deck.
Dirk, as you watch the stairs, the splashing sounds below settle back into a slow, rhythmic wading. The zombies don't seem to have the coordination to climb the slick staircase, especially with the water dragging at their legs. They are mindless; without a target right in front of them, they seem content to drift back into the shadows of the lower deck.
You are not currently in initiative. You know there are zombies on the lower level, but don't have to engage them. You can continue exploring the cabins on the main deck if you wish.
Onji does not touch anything and is the main deck. Looks around to see who is available to search the aft rooms with him. Hearing the warning, he does not want to check rooms on his own as a solo.
Dirk will head over to the stairs and watch for the pustulating spongy horrors bow in hand, only a sneer of disgust on his face, “Come out, come out ye horrid desecrations.”
In elven he whispers, “Natures born of fertile ground death blooms life renewed.”
Marin will quickly clear away enough so that he can take up a position in the crow's nest and after taking out his short bow will look back and forth across the ship trying to see which staircase any zombies might emerge from.
Once he is secure he will take the dagger from between his teeth and put it away, now that his mouth is free again, "Zombies! Where!" he looks around to keep an eye out for any zombies, "Ware all! Zombies are about! Beware the Zombies!"

Onji and Irtos, the door to the cabin is unlocked. Six double bunks line the edges of this cabin. Personal effects are strewn about the room, and a faded, painted portrait hangs on one wall. The portrait shows a young couple smiling and embracing. Written across the bottom of the portrait are the words “Aleitha and Brastos—together forever.” The black-haired woman wears a sailor’s uniform similar to the tatters worn by the zombies aboard this ship. The blond-haired man wears a merchant’s fine clothes. Do you search the room?
Marin, you catch the glint of something shiny before you climb down the Crow's nest. You find a small gold bracelet worth 25 gp and a single gold hoop earring worth 25 gp.
Dirk, you try to reach out with your connection to the earth, but as your hand brushes the deck, you feel only the damp, rotting grain of ancient oak. The ship is a shell of wood and seaweed, isolated from the stone and bedrock of the island below. Your tremorsense finds no purchase here; the "soggy ones" below remain hidden by the wood and the sloshing seawater, shielded from your earthen sight.
If you wish to engage the zombies, you can move down the slick stairs or through the hatch as part of your normal movement. You won't "lose" your turn by going down; we will roll initiative once you arrive on the lower deck, and you can take your full actions from there (including movement).
Dirk moves to the stairs cautiously moving down to engage the zombies. His face flushes with embarrassment realizing he is nowhere near stone to feel his way around…
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Marin will pocket the bracelet and earring for now, planning to examine them more carefully when time permits. After hearing the warning of zombies but not seeing any willing to come up on deck, and noticing his newfound companions about to venture below and take the fight to them Marin decides to scramble down from the crow's nest and rejoin everyone on deck.
"Does anyone else think it's strange the zombies won't come up on deck?" Marin asks no one in particular as he appears back on deck.

Noticing the portrait Irtos comments, "That's so sad. At least one of the sailers had someone waiting for them." Unless called away, Irtos will try searching the room for any mementos she could return to the merchant pictured.

“We’ve got company below decks! Watch the stairs!”
Dirk draws his bow anticipating that the zombies will shuffle up the stairs.

Coming back down from the forward deck, Irtos is willing to support Onji in checking the doors on this deck.
Onji spins around and heads to a door with Irtos.
OOC looks like 4 doors, let's go the top right door, the left (top on map) bow (right side) (under where Irtos searched)
