Vondal closes his eyes briefly in a soft sigh of relief. "As fortunes would have it, we are plenty motivated as is to help however we can with the mines. But first, a stop to Phandalin for some overdue drinks, and a bit of what the humans like to call TLC among other things." He added with a grin, then glanced at Nif and Karl somewhat expectant for the pair to take point in leading the way. "I was not able to say before as well, but it is good to see that you alright, Nundro."

With Gundren and Nundro in your company, it's a fairly easy trek back to Phandalin. It takes most of the day's light to reach the crumbling town, but you do so with no trouble.
"Ahh it's good to see Phaladin again"says Adrom when the smoke of the chimneys of the village can be seen in the dying light of the day "I can certainly use a bath" he says"have you ever been at the Purple Baths in Mithral Hall? That my friends, is a piece of Moradin's Home in this plane I assure you... and the massages... oohh they could melt and ingot of good dwarven steel I am tellng you..."
"Can't say that I've had the pleasure. But, I'm pretty sure my sister wrote in one of her letters about it." Vondal chuckled. "In fact, I'm pretty sure in that same reply that she really rubbed it in how much I was missing out." He added, ending on a 'Hmph!' for good measure. "But its good to be back for sure. Let's go with, uhm... let's go with Stonehill first. Sildar liked the place well enough, so should be there. And if not, it is good starting point."The gold dwarf admits, and assuming the others are in agreement, he'd make a point of veering in the direction of the tavern once the group were closer to the town proper.

A fleeting look of sadness passes over Karl's face as he overhears Adrom and Vondal chatting about baths. When Vondal starts veering towards the tavern he realises he is already a few steps behind Karl.
The streets of Phandalin are quiet this evening, but as they head up the road toward the Stonehill Inn, they begin to hear music. It isn't totally dark out yet, but the windows of the Inn are still ablaze. The front door is open, and it sounds like there's some kind of social gathering going on. Besides music, they can hear the occasional burst of laughter and a general hum of conversation.
Karl marches up and steps through the open door without a hint of pause.
Indeed, the room is full of people — some sitting around the few tables and some standing in groups. Everyone appears to have a drink. A halfling with a shock of spikey red hair is sitting on a stool in one corner playing a lute and singing something that is punctuated with bawdy jokes and innuendo. Toblen is behind the bar, pouring drinks like his life depended on it, and appearing to be having a blast. You also spot a number of others you recognize including Sildar.
Vondal starts to slow hearing the music and seems just about ready to reconsider spoiling things by dragging Glasstaff along into the building. Nevermind the good odds of a lynch mob probably forming once the man's identity wound up revealed in the process. "Fiddle stones... Listen, Brother Nif. You mind going on ahead and see Sildar is inside? And if so, Let'em know who we got with us and to come out for that. Much as this one may deserve the worse, I rather not have cause undue chaos for it."

"I agree" says Adrom "No need to go inside and ruin the fun for everyone. I'll stay with Vondal and wait for you here."
He then turns to Glasstaff.
"You hear that? to your crimes you can add party breaker. And the offense of delaying a couple of dwarves their earned pints of ales. "he points at him "There's a special punishment for those crimes in Hell you know?"
"Well he ain't delayin' me an ale"Karl says as he walks straight into the Tavern and up to the counter. "A very large ale if ya don't mind - me throat's drier than a dingo's donga!"Karl asks of the barkeep.
Nif nods in agreement with Vondal's request and heads into the Inn, advancing on the table where Sildar sits. "We have a present for you, a glass present you might say, waiting outside for you."

"Just a minute," Toblen says to Karl, giving him only a quick glance. But almost immediately, the man's face turns toward the dwarf, and a huge grin spreads his thin lips. "Well, look who's back!" he says loudly. He begins looking over Karl's shoulders very quickly as he grabs a mug and begins to fill it. "Where are the others?" he asks, still smiling broadly. "Look who's here," he says to the others nearby. "It's one of the Saviors of Phandalin!" The others begin to nod and smile as they recognize Karl. Someone Karl doesn't know says to add his drink to his tab.
As Nif steps up to Sildar's table, the silver-haired man looks up at the dwarf. When Toblen beings exclaiming over Karl, Sildar grins. "Welcome back," he says just loudly enough for Nif to hear over the ruckus.
"We have a present for you," Nif says. "A glass present you might say, waiting outside for you."
Sildar's smile doesn't disappear, but his eyes take on a curious look. He gets up from his table, not putting down his drink, and follows Nif outside. Once he spots Glasstaff, the man's step falters. "A present indeed," he says.
Glasstaff turns his head so that he isn't looking at Sildar.
Sildar continues his pace, walking up and standing in front of the bound wizard. "If it isn't Iarno 'Glasstaff' Albrek."
Iarno turns his head slowly to look at Sildar. "Hallwinter," he says in greeting.
"We thought you were dead," Sildar continues. "I guess we should have seen this. You always were too ambitious for your own good."
Once Sildar stepped out into view Vondal couldn't help but grin in relief. He respectfully waits for a natural break in the duo's greetings before chiming in, "I, well, we thought it best not to bring him in, least we at best sour the mood, or at worst, tempted others to enact their own sense of justice in the heat of passion and a few too many drinks."
He side-eyes Iarno and frowns. "Giving this one yet another chance to escape in all the messiness."Looking back up to Sildar with a grin, Vondal goes on to say, "That all said... what you want do with him? I seem to remember wanting to take him back to waterdeep... and there being a reward for his capture, if also not mistaken. Which after having hand in playing kidnapper and babysitter of Nundro back where we found them, could go a long way for the trouble your... former compatriot has caused."

Sildar puts a big hand on Iarno's thin shoulder and pushes him forward, twisting him around so that he can see the wizard's mangled hands. The old soldier raises his eyebrows and looks at the dwarves appraisingly. He finally gives a curt nod and looks down the road. "There's a cell in the Townmaster's Hall. And I can find you a suitable reward as well."
Confused, Vondal traced the path of Sildar's look glance back to their prior handy work, and at least had the decency to seem at least somewhat apologetic, if only for the brutality. But seeing as Sildar neglected to bring it up, the gold dwarf wouldn't go out of his way to further broach the subject. "Sounds good. Allow me to join you in seeing at least this one imprisone, and filling in any details along way." He requestsand looked about ready to start guiding Iarno, before then glancing over to Nif and Adrom, as well as to Nundro and Gundren had the pair stayed out as well.

Before walking off, Sildar nods at Nundro. "You must be another of the Rockseeker brothers."
Nundro replies, "Aye. Nundro."
"Pleasure," the old soldier says genuinely.
The dwarf brothers look at the party before heading toward the Inn.
Sildar leads the small party down the dark road to the Townmaster's Hall. He unlocks the door and ushers everyone inside. Lighting a lamp, he takes the group down a hall, through a few dark passages, and finally to a room with two empty cells. He unlocks one and stands back to allow Iarno to be led in by Vondal. After locking the wizard in, he stands and looks at the bearded man for a few heartbeats. "I'll bring you something to eat," he says, sounding almost sad. He then leads the dwarves back to the foyer before stopping and turning to face them. "You're sure it's safe? He won't be able to pull any tricks?"
Karl you hear a few people call out Gundren's and Nundro's names, so you look over your shoulder to see the Rockseeker brothers enter. They are greeted by many, and while they smile, there is also sadness in their eyes. It isn't long before the news of Tharden spreads, and someone calls for the bard to cease.
Elmar Barthen, the proprietor of the general store, gets everyone's attention. His eyes are hard, but the quiver in his voice betrays his true emotions. "Our good friends Gundren and Nundro Rockseeker are here with us, but they bring us some very sad news. Their brother, Tharden, is no longer among the living." What follows are several minutes of recollections and tributes from a few of those present. With each, Tharden's brothers grow a little more heartened. Finally, it is Gundren who calls for a toast to Tharden's memory. Following that, Nundro assures everyone that Tharden would want them to drink and make merry to celebrate his passing, and he makes his own request for the bard's next song: a Dwarven drinking song that Karl hasn't heard in many, many years. He is immediately flooded with his own familial memories and a strong sense of loss.
Vondal closes his eyes briefly in a soft sigh of relief. "As fortunes would have it, we are plenty motivated as is to help however we can with the mines.
