As the route to the Bent Nail is within the guards cordon Gargan whispers quietly to his companions: "Why don't we go and have a look for this fellow inside the Bent Nail ourselves then, before the watches investigators get to do so first?"
With that he moves off towards the Bent Nail to look for the cloaked figure who fled the scene, presuming that his companions will join him.
"Aye" Kanus says as he moves in to follow Gargan to the Bent Nail. Outside of proximity he wasn't sure why they were getting involved in this particular matter, all he knew is there better be some gold in it for him.
Jack frowns, then hesitantly nods in agreement. Casting one last wary look to the closest set of guards, she pulls the edges of her cloak further around her as she follows after the dragonborn. Seeing or noting a measure of similar hesitation in Kanus, she tentatively pats him on the puldron. "I'm sure there will be some sort of bounty soon out for the cause of the explosion. N-not to mention a lot people whose minds would be at ease knowing sooner than later over this whole mess."She smiles a forced but confident smile.

"Aye, thanks...uh, I don't think I caught your name?" he looked the woman over briefly before turning eyes back forward, "No matter, you spoke my language when you said bounty."
OOC: I'm not mistaken that Jack is still in another form, that Kanus has only seen not really met right? It's been a long day so I'll edit if need be.
(@Mad: You got it right. She is in another form that Kanus has not met. Noone has before now, at that.)
The woman smiles and starts to open her mouth to say one thing, hesitate mid-word, then snicker to herself. "Its Evrae, for now. I'll be able to explain things better when things are a little less tense around here... Sorry."She picks up the pace a little to walk side by side with the holy warrior.

You sneak in behind the guard, nibble the cord attaching the pouch to his belt and then, looking to make sure their attention is still elsewhere, quickly dart back around the corner. No one appears to be the wiser. Along the way you grab a good whiff of his shoes - it smells awful, and definitely reminiscent of the smell down in the sewer when you were looking for the Xanathar hideout.
Others: You walk back around the corner towards the Bent Nail. You don't see much activity here, though it's hard to believe anyone wouldn't have heard the commotion and come to check it out. That said, it's already been a good 10-15 minutes since the blast. The door to the shop is closed, as are the windows.
If someone would like to make a perception check..?
Evrae's smile turns into a nervous one again. Yet, she continues to follow along after the others to the Bent Nail. "That's odd. Were they on lunch or something?" As she skips a head a little to find a space past any curtains, and hear a sound past the door.

The shop being closed up wouldn't be that unusual, considering it's still fairly early in the morning. You don't see or hear anything peculiar - it's possible Tully just isn't there or hasn't opened up yet. You do notice there is a manhole on the street off to the right. There are a few faint footprints leading out of it back towards the scene. You don't see any going back into it.
I pair of guards come around the corner, patrolling the side street. They recognize you from the scene: "Best to stay back in or nearby your home there friends. Just trying to keep everyone together - the watch should be here momentarily."
The weasaxi will scamper back in to an alley behind some stuff out of sight and revert back to his normal form and then make his way towards the Bent Nail to meet up with the rest of his party. He will also inspect the pouch he borrowed.
You discreetly open the pouch to peek inside and find 5 gemstones of different colours. You round the corner before the shop just in time to see the two guards approach the rest of the group. They escort you back to the crime scene and you hang back on the porch of your manor until the City Watch arrives.
A few minutes later around 20 City Watch officers arrive along with a sergeant, and a bearded man wearing blue robes and carrying a staff. The sergeant directs the constables to start knocking on doors and questioning locals. The robed man begins investigating the scene and corpses.
After some time and several discussions with the Sergeant they eventually approach you.
"Greetings. My name is Barnibus Blastwind; I represent the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors. I hear you were nearby when the blast went off, and also that you've been speaking to some of the others and roaming the neighborhood a bit. Would you share anything you have discovered with me?"
Barnibus seems a quirky but pleasant enough fellow, but he does seem serious about his investigation and though he's posed it as a question, you can tell it really isn't one.
Gargan immediately moves over to the Robed man as he approaches and offers his hand in greeting to him.
"Greetings to you Barnibus Blastwind I am Gargan, of clan Jurnixus in far away Tymanther. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. My friends and I were indeed nearby, just inside our Manor here in fact, when the explosion went off. We rushed out immediately to see what had occurred only to discover the grisly scene outside. I can tell you good sir that as I examined the scene through the smoke and dust I deduced rather quickly that the explosion was certainly magical in nature, though by the time we had made it outside there was no clear sign of any perpetrator. Have you discovered who is responsible as of yet?"
Jack stayed huddled close to Kanus during the wait. But occasionally shoots Cloudfur a glance as if making sure he is still nearby this time around. Then the investigators arrive, driving her to partially obscure herself behind Kanus while Barnibus made his approach to them. Her expression is nothing short of terrified the pleasant man. Not from fear of the law per se, as apparent, but maybe moreso because of both it and he's human? She kept rubbing at the pointed edge of her ears and avoided directly meeting his gaze whenever possible. But eventually she short bursts out by saying, "It was Zhentarium. I think. A-a deal gone wrong, maybe?" She looks up at Kanus expectantly, as if awaiting for him to corroborate her story.

"Aye, not knowing what had happened I disarmed the individuals so as to prevent further violence, and while doing so I found that they have tattoos of winged serpents" Kanus looked down to the frightened Elven woman with a concerned glance, she was scared and he wasn't sure what for. Was she connected to all this?
Unphased by the whole situation offhandedly says "The dead gnome smelled of the sewers, perhaps that would be a good place to start your investigation...."
Barnibus, looking to each of you as you speak: "Well I've discovered many things but the perpetrator is not one of them, so far. Do you know who this gnome is, or who any of the victims are? Why do you suppose he would have been here? Have you found any evidence from the area or any of the witnesses?"
The tabaxi shrugs "we were in our home here when the explosion went off, we rushed outside like many others afterwards and attempted to administer healing to those in need, but it was too late for these poor souls. May Kelemvor judge them fairly."
Elf-Jack furrows her brows and taps her chin. After awhile she shakes her head. "I didn't get a good look at the n-n-gnome personally. O-oh! But there was this cloaked figured that ran off past the broken nail supposedly."She gestures back the way the came, then over to the elven woman that pointed it out. "She can confirm it. Don't know who it was, but they were in awful hurry and seemed to have a bit of a limp."
There are definitely guards nearby and they've roped off an area around the victims. You could certainly try if you want to.
The Bent Nail is back around the corner. They've blocked off either end of the streets... here I'll just make a map.
