The glob isn't forever, it's for an hour. And I figured the egg isn't "nonliving material" that can be heated with Prestidigitation. So I figured the glob would form an insulating layer around the egg and that layer can then be kept warm.
I wasn't aware of that limitation for Prestidigitation. However, it's a simple problem to fix, by heating a proxy non-living material that the egg sits on or in.
Lets not overcomplicate this. You can take the egg. You need to keep it warm if the intent is to have it hatched. Delegating Rodolfo to Prestidigitation duty during travel is enough to satisfy the requirement.
If Rodolfo falls unconscious in a battle or something, we can randomly roll to see if he falls on the egg or not (assuming Rodolfo is carrying the egg).
Yeah, if that Drow was speaking in Undercommon, then Beegred would just be spacing out until someone gives a translation for that spew of hot air.
Whether he gets it directly from no-name Drow or through a translator, the halfling's response will be the same.
I suspect that this guy is trying to bluff the party into surrendering to him. I'll put in a check roll, in case it is needed later. I'd prefer passive Investigation (17) or passive Perception (20), but this is probably Insight: 22 (wow!!)

Rodolfo casts Levitate on the drow. If it works he'll raise the drow 5 feet off the ground and says, "Lets tie him up, gag him and put a bag over his head. Lets take him and let the others decide what to do with him."
This will happen in initiative, if it works out that way:
Also - for my own records - have we gotten a long rest somewhere along the line? I still have Skameros listed at 22 or 65 HP and wondering if I forgot to click long rest or if we're that bad off
Is the darkness behind the drow normal or magical?
If it is normal darkness, then Beegred would eagerly step into it as well, not considering there are things like Devil's Sight which don't rely on darkvision.

… does the history check only become relevant if we’re in the dark? I thought I might get the result before actually rushing in but I’m not sure where it becomes relevant
My first thought is to just leave this drow to stew in the darkness, as there is likely a trap back there. But if that dude is going to get more drow reinforcements, then we should take him out now. Any preferences?

It occurs to me that caution is probably too much thinking for the halfling. He marches in.

Beegred is going to 'march' into the magical darkness. He's being stealthy and trying to 'feel' what's going on, so I'll say he's not full out chasing the Drow.
Skameros said he's taking his cues from Beegred. So I'm assuming he's entering the darkness as well. Being careful? Or trying to chase after the Drow?
Rodolfo is disappointed his target disappeared before he could finish his spell. Is Rodolfo entering the darkness? Is he chasing the Drow?

You shouldn't be that low. The only combat that happened was the Basilisks. They never got to make attacks, and you were just hiding anyway.

So is the spell slot for Rodolfo used or not used?
The darkness is magical.
Rodolfo, yes your spell slot is used. (Wouldn't make sense anymore since your casting of the spell kicked off rolling for initiative)
You've all rolled History checks. Does that mean you are all rushing into the darkness in pursuit of the drow?

I'll explain, but I need to know who succeeds and who fails before I do. So I wanted to know who was doing what.
Since this seems to be a Beegred problem - Skameros was waiting for direction from Beegred as to murder or not murder

I thought the darkness is on the way we need to go, so we would need to go through it anyways.
Yes, that is correct.
But as a wizard, you know you can just wait out the spell's duration if entering the darkness is not something you would want to do.
It occurs to me that caution is probably too much thinking for the halfling. He marches in.
