Orubis DC 12 Animal Handling check to convince the basilisk that the caverns are no longer safe, with advantage since it is already inclined to understand this: 18
With the link formed by The Mushroom Prince's divinity, Orubis is able to impress upon the Basilisk that this area is no longer safe for it, to leave and to not return. Eyes continually downcast, Orubis can only hear as the creature shuffles about, taking time to do 'something' before it leaves and the cavern goes quiet.
Beegred listens to Orubis and the creature and can understand that the Basilisk made a choice to abandon its home and protect what matters most.
After the quiet endures for several minutes, Orubis glances up and takes in the scene in the cavern. The corpse of the second Basilisk lies next to a mound of pulverized stone. The Basilisk pair had made their nest here, and in the nest is evidence that there recently had been a clutch of eggs. Now there is only one 6 inch diameter, 20-pound pebble gray egg left behind.
“Oh! An egg! I am not at all sure what to do with that… huh. Um. We have trips to other places, yeah? Places with traders who might be interested in something exotic like this?” Orubis tries to make the best of a weird situation.

Beegred: "That sounds like the best way to go. We should make sure Skameros knows that this looks like an oversized breakfast egg, but is like a statue. No cracking it open and making something weird happen."

Orubis picks up the remaining Basilisk egg and feels quite a bit of heat coming off it, not enough to burn but much hotter than the surrounding air. He quickly realizes that for it to survive and hatch, it will need to be kept hot.

With the Basilisk gone and the remainder of the party trying to repair the damaged summoning circle, Beegred sets out to make sure the cave is free of any other dangers...
(The outcome is predetermined, the roll just represents how much time Beegred takes.)
Beegred returns in quick order, never straying far from the rest of the party. With his sense of direction and what he knows of Basilisks, he's confident that no other creatures have dared venture into the Basilisks territory in quite some time, and it will be quite some time before creatures begin to return.
Rodolfo pulls out his wand of viscid globs, "This should help to keep it from cooling too fast. I might be able to keep it warm as well with prestidigitation."
He looks at others, "If you are OK with this?"
(the plan is to shoot a glob at the egg and then keep warming it with the cantrip)
After scouting out the cavern your party is fairly certain is Entremoch's Boon, cleaning up the damage caused by Rodolfo's spell and collecting the remaining Basilisk egg, you all agree the mission has been accomplished and head back towards Blingdenstone.
You eventually find the Galeb Duhr continuing to secure and camouflage the cave system containing Entremoch's Boon and easily get past. Beegred is easily able to retrace your steps and the travel is going well, until your party rounds a corner and sees a magical darkness blocking the path. A voice speaks undercommon with apparent disgust, but the message is otherwise non-aggressive.
"I gather since you all stopped, you are looking at my darkness, no? If you keep calm and remain civil, I will step out and we can speak face to face. What do you say?"
Visually, there is nothing on the party's side of the darkness cloud that shows any evidence of an ambush. To your other senses, you can only be certain that there is one individual, as they are the only one speaking. No other sense indicates more individuals.
Beegred leans towards the others in the party to be confidential, and then speaks so loud that it can be overheard. (This isn't by plan. He is oblivious to his noise volume.)
"I think he means don't blow up the ground, Rodolfo." Beegred will sheath the magic sword and dagger, but still keep his hands near the handles in case they should be re-drawn.

Out of the darkness, a Drow steps into view. He looks out of place, with fine clothing being crumpled by strapped-on ill-fitting armor. His sword belt slaps against his leg and he unconsciously keeps tucking it over looking for a comfortable position. Upon seeing your party, he scans each of your faces, before addressing Beegred, "Well, you split up. How wonderful." By his tone, there's nothing wonderful about this discovery.
He looks annoyed and a bit distant before he continues, "Ahh, my manners, even lesser ones deserve an introduction. But my name is not important. All you need to know is I'm a distant cousin of dear Ilvara Myzzrim. It turns out dear cousin Ilvara is quite insane. She is actively destroying the standing of house Myzzrim in Menzoberranzan as she calls in favors and racks up debts to enact her 'grand plan'. Which I found out is just her efforts to recapture escaped slaves. The debts she's accruing far outweigh what any of you could possibly be worth.
Now, I have no desire to live in The Braeryn you see and that's where our house is headed if this insanity doesn't end. So here I am, trying the civil approach where Ilvara would be throwing away Drow lives and flinging expensive magics to recapture you. I think if I explain the situation you're in," again, the drow is pointedly looking at Beegred, "you'll maybe try to make the best of a bad situation?"
"Let me tell you, Ilvara will not give up. She's so angry, even if you die of old age she'll get her hands on magics to bring you back so you can serve her as her slave. Now the life of a slave may not be appealing to you, yet. But if you insist on continuing this pursuit, you will put the freedom of your other companions here at risk too. If she has to go through those allies of yours to get to you, she will have no qualms enslaving them too."
The Drow then speaks to the others in your party, "This one is as good as cursed. He will do nothing but bring trouble upon you. If you so cherish your struggle to survive in these bleak caves, then you should stop protecting him. If you like the thought of a life in service to an upcoming great house of Menzoberranzan, then I can make arrangements if you return this slave of ours to us and I will have you appointed to one of the more prestigious positions among our slaves."
"Either way, Ilvara knows your whereabouts and is on her way. A decision will be forced upon you all very soon."
Beegred is obviously confused, processing thoughts that he can't grasp. (He is not deliberately antagonizing the Drow. Beegred is that dim-witted, and his attention drifted about 4 seconds after the monologue started.) "I got the first two things you said. You do deserve an introduction. And your name isn't important.
"After that, it made no sense, Most people don't brag about being related to deer and elk and things. If you don't like where your house is moving, don't live in a mobile home. You should be able to find a nice stationary barn where you can do whatever you want with your deer and wildlife (although I still think you shouldn't brag about it).
"Are you one of those whackos that likes to talk about yourself in the third person? That you are a slave, and want to be returned to the other Drow? We don't do that stuff, and you shouldn't want to be a slave. Smart people don't like that. Even if your equipment is in bad shape, you can probably make a living without enslaving yourself."
Beegred is sure that he is missing something, but that is the best he can do with what this long-winded dark elf said.

The Drow looks confused. He looks at the others and says, "I don't think his undercommon is very good. One of you explain to him in his native tongue?"
Orubis will attempt to use his charm to drive off the basilisk and send it elsewhere.
