Adrasteia signals for a non-violent resolution and Mokiakia takes her up on the request. She produces her Mage Hand and manipulates it accurately, removing the bell from the sleeping goblin girl's hand without a hitch (the goblin's passive perception is just a 9, so an 18 easily beats it).
Meanwhile, Renaer can barely contain his excitement about being the one leading the front of the line at this moment. However, Sim and Mokiakia then bypass him, to uncover what lies beyond the steps. A long eastbound corridor ends in yet another room. It is hard to see what may be inside that room from this distance, despite it having no door blocking your view. You also notice that the corridor passes below the northern sewer line you saw earlier, judging by all the dripping and the foul smell.
Watching over the back of the line, Adrasteia is left wondering if they should try to question the goblin before moving on (it sounded like you suggested this, no?)
To Adra: " I think it is good idea to question the goblin. I dont speak goblin or know what they speak; does anyone think they can communicate and extract info?"
It seems there is another room after X57, so I will venture forward stealthily. 23
"Nah," I say, and attempt to dash through the corridor without getting dripped on (acrobatics: 21). I then sneak to the edge of the doorway and peer around (stealth: 15) to see what I can see (investigation: 13).
The group seems to disagree on whether to question and/or bind the sleeping goblin. Mokiakia seems to suggest that Adrasteia should do it, but moves away promptly showing no interest on the outcome. Sim simply pushes on. Ranaer moves forward just a bit {X49}, so he can keep an eye on everyone. What will Adrasteia do?
While Sim effortlessly dodges the dripping sewage, Mokiakia does not care if a few splashes hit her disguise. The two of them then bunch together at the threshold leading into the next room over. This room contains six tattered, straw-stuffed mattresses which are unoccupied. This empty sleeping area seems to offer little of interest according to Sim's quick look over the area. However, there is a closed thin wooden door to the southeast {AA60}, though which you can hear the sounds of activity.
Seeing that I have been overruled by my companions I follow them to X, 54 as quietly as I can. I don't like the thought of my two squishy companions being on their own.
Adrasteia joins the rest of the party, her magical armor not being affected by the dripping sewage.
The goblin guard is left behind, sleeping and missing her tiny alarm bell, but otherwise undisturbed.
With the stealth and investigation rolls Mokiakia and Sim had above, we can say that they silently poked around this empty sleeping area while Adrasteia and Renaer were catching up to them. They found nothing of interest. Nonetheless, you all still hear noises coming from beyond the door at {AA60}.
I cross the room and listen at the wooden door, trying to hear any conversation and determine who's behind the door, and how many of them there are. Perception: 21
Sim touches her ear to the door and hears noises that remind her of furniture being pushed and dragged. Two men are also having a conversation:
Man with a deep voice: "Come on Krentz, stop babbling and help me push this trunk."
Man with a familiar voice: "That won't work, you dim-witted dwarf."
Man with a deep voice: "You either help or I'm telling Grum’shar about your little failed bar brawl."
Man with a familiar voice: "Fine, Zemk... Here, you need to plug the gap at the bottom of the door with blankets."
Sim can tell they are not talking about the door she is listening to as the voices don't exactly sound like they are just on the other side of her door.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Insight check to try to identify the familiar voice: 13Eager for some action, I walk through the door holding my piton, rope and shovel and tell them I was sent to help them move the load. deception26
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sim is the only one that "heard" the voices as she was eavesdropping. Even if she told you what she heard, Mokiakia would not be able to try to recognize a voice she did not hear directly.
As Adrasteia prepares for a fight, Mokiakia grabs some supplies from her backpack and rushes into the room. As she enters she sees two men, a tattooed human and a dark-skinned dwarf, moving furniture in a way to block a door in the northeast portion of the chamber. This room also contains six tattered, straw-stuffed mattresses (so, another sleeping area), and another door in the southeast corner. Mokiakia tells the men she was sent to help but as the words leave her mouth she recognizes the human and the eye tattoos that cover his shaven head, and is not sure if her deceit will work on him. This is Krentz, the leader of the little mob that attacked Yagra back in the Yawning Portal.
-> Krentz's insight check vs. Mokiakia's deception: 7 or 2 (advantage because he saw you in the past).
Zemk, the dwarf, speaks first: "I don't know who you are but if you know of this place I guess you are one of us... Well, come on then, that rope will come in handy."
Krentz's has a skeptical expression about him: "Hmm... weren't you... hmmm... ah. Must be a new recruit. There was no alarm, so... Come, give me that piton."
Sim, Adrasteia and Renaer are still in the previous room, while Mokiakia is interacting with those two.
Caught off guard by Mokiakia's Leroy Jenkins move, I quickly step back to Z59 to remain out of sight. Knowing I can't change forms in front of Renaer without exposing my secret, I decide to listen from the other room and see what Mokiakia learns. I feel assured knowing Adrasteia is ready to burst in in the event of any trouble.
As Adra blew up my attempt to seem one of them, I have to improvise some. I eye the objects they are moving, walk rather casually to not bring in more suspicion, and I say to Zhemk and Krentz, " I am not usually down here as they higher ups decided I can be a spy for them but I have other skills they wanna use now. So this time they think I can be of use down here". I gesture to Adra " I have hypnotized this muscle to help us with moving heavy stuff." "Tell me, are we moving these to keep things from coming out or prevent intruders from going in? I have effective ways of protecting objects in and stopping beings from escaping too". deception24
(@All: This is quite the ridiculous scene, but Mokiakia is rolling so high!)
Sim and Adrasteia react in opposite ways to Mokiakia's sudden shenanigans. Sim hides behind the corner waiting for her companions acting performance to yield results. Adrasteia barges in, sure that such performance is bound to fail. Unsure of what to do, Renaer stays behind, ready to run in if necessary.
Mokiakia then escalates her lies. Krentz and Zemk seem a lot more suspicious now. They have never seen a member of the Xanathar Guild being so impeccably armored before, and this talk about superiors and sudden help is becoming too convoluted for simpletons like them. For the moment, they are still giving you the benefit of the doubt. They let Mokiakia approach, but don't give a response. They slowly begin to reach for their weapons.
Since Mage Hand has the goblin situation under control, I follow Mo down the stairs to Y49 and peer around the corner. Investigation: 22

Since my act seems to have come to its end and they didn't reveal what they are hiding, I guess we have to fight them.
I move to AA62 and cast Fire BoltAttack: 7 Damage: 2 aiming at Krentz's tatooed skull.
Realizing my mistake by entering the room, I move to head off any attack made by Zemk.
