As she sees the scene before her she whispers “Poor souls...may Mystra find you peace.”. She begins to edge further around the outside of the room slowly, trying not to cause a reaction from the undead at the table, while looking for another exit on the other side of the room.
Dajur enters the house and makes his way upstairs. 10 (Perception) do I see anything that gives an indication who these people were? Items of note? How they became undead?
"Well that's not an everyday occurrence." He turns to address the corpse that looked at them. "Tell me friend, can you understand me?" And if he gets a sign in the affirmative "Can you tell me what has cause this to befall you and yours?"
Ghengis grunts and lights a torch as he enters the room. "This is why you never travel with paladins or bards. Instead of simply slaying undead they have to talk to the damned things. " He shakes his head. "Things used to be a lot more straightforward."
I've never talked to the undead either, but these aren't hostile...yet. if the area is loaded with them I don't want to rule them up before we have more information.
"Now that's, that's not right, that is! I'm a member of the watch, you see, so you 'af to tell me your name before I tell you mine. There's an order, you see. I'd think you of all people would get it." A figure in guardsmen's clothes and armor cautiously exits one of the doors on the left. He holds a spear at the ready. "So you tell me your name, and this doesn't have to get nasty. And stand away from my cart."
The Party:
The corpse at the head of the table nods slowly, but you can't tell if it's from an effort to stand and approach you or in response to your questions and examination. It's eyes are dull, practically unseeing, but apparently alert enough to track when strange figures enter the room. It's long moan continues into a drawn out death rattle, then repeats. The other corpses at the table give no sign of animating, slumped in their chairs. Marion notices a door straight across from the main entrance, leading further into the house. She can just make out the base of a staircase on her left through the door. It's clear to Dajur that these were once common folk, by their clothes and the way they are arrayed. The table, however, is not set, and there seems to be no reason for them to be there.
As the others attempt to communicate with the poor people cursed to exist as undead Marion moves around and looks into the next room to check for any other dangers.
"There are to - who do you think you are? You're not a part of the Watch! What are you doing behind the cordoned area? You drop your, your, thing. Then we'll talk!" The guard seems nervous, but keeps his voice steady, and his spear pointed directly at Magnus. "What would your boss say? Would she be proud of you harassing an innocent guardsman?"
With a sudden growl, a large brown dog with oddly shaped ears and large claws lopes out of the building on the left. It pauses by it's master, hackles raised, and growls.
The Party:
The corpse at the end of the table tumbles to the floor, evoking a loader moan from the corpse at the head. As Ghengis's axe prods the undead, it caves in it's chest, causing it's head to hang limply forward. The thing appears to cry out, a moaning wail with a distinct plaintive quality.
As Marion peeks into the next room, she notices that this next room is some kind of sitting room, or once was. The rot appears to have spread here as well. But, as she looks, she sees a slight motion in the corner. A figure, standing, staring at the corner itself, occasionally shuffling and bouncing against the yet-unyielding wall. The figure is skeletal, and was once probably female, but bears drawn green-grey skin over it's form, with tufts of long white hair poking out of it's head. It mutters almost below her threshold of hearing, seemingly to herself.
Arcana 5 Can I observe or detect anything on/around the corpses? Are the being controlled? Anything on their person (investigation 6 ) . Not just valuables, but an arcane focus or anything out of place for this common house...but also valuables
Upon discovering yet another victim Marion stops, not sensing any immediate threat. Relaxing her grip on her sword she straightens to her full height and looks to the skeletal figure in front of her with nothing but sympathy on her face as she speaks “What manner of curse has done such a thing to you poor woman, Mystra be with you as you endure such horror. Can you understand me? We have come to lift this foul curse from Dalben, do you know who did this to you and your kin?”
Ghengis looks up guiltily and saunters away from the damaged corpse. "You can't kill 'em, you can't talk to 'em, you can't eat 'em... What're you supposed to do with 'em? "
Damned if I know, but look about. If we can't find a control or source we may need to push on. Marion, do you intend to leave them in this state or do we put them down?
Upon hearing Dajur’s question from the other room Marion looks to the...creature in front of her. A pained look crosses her face as she tries to decide what would be best. She looks heavenwards and closes her eyes while whispering “Guide me. Are these souls lost my lady?”
Any response of divine inspiration seems to experience some kind of intereference, though Mystra might well be occupied with more weighty matters. Dajur's brief investigation into magical sources and properties around the room reveal nothing - in fact, the room appears to have been stripped of valuables some time ago.
The skeletal woman in the corner slowly turns towards Marion and regards her with cloudy, rotting eyes. She takes a half step towards her. Then another. A pause. The woman begins to exhale, gathering force as she breathes out until something catches in her throat and her voice engages. She begins to scream.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fire bolt attack 18 damage 7. Well shit. Dajur steps forward and flings arcane fire at the screaming undead. I don't know what your god would want, but I don't want it drawing more to us. Ghengis, its your lucky day bust it and let's go.

Come into the light, rumbles the Warforged. I'd not give my name to someone I cannot see.

Dajur will walk to the corpse furthest from the moving one and just push it over.
Ghengis stomps toward the conscious undead and prods it with his axe.

Magnus levels his halberd at the person.
There are to be no members of the watch in this area, it is cordoned off. Drop your spear and then walk over here, slowly.
