"Thanks Shiloh", Nirev says as she hands his share of the gnoll ears. He listens to her timid explanation of the sheriff's request and knows he should talk to his mother about it as well. However, he is unsure of the sheriff's payment offer. "It sort of feels like the sheriff is thinking of us as mercenaries, though. He used to bring gifts to me and my mom when I was younger", he adds oblivious to the fact that the sheriff was trying to win his mother's heart. "We are not mercenaries, we are part of Brine, and the sheriff should consider that. If we do what he asks, we should at least include us in the garrison's decisions", he finishes hoping to be treated like a grown up.
“That’s an interesting point, Nirev. I would think if we manage to effectively relocate the gnoll encampment, we could negotiate for a seat at the table.” Kairon says, stroking his horn in contemplation.
“GarrikColonel, I’m sure we could use your talents, but you have to admit, your appearance in the woods and was rather startling. You’ll have to excuse us, we don’t get to many newcomers around here.”
There a blacksmith... he can fix things ... but doesn't have the art of making weapons and armor... but he has stuff laying around people have sold him...

*turns back to the party* "I understand a small village not being used to newcomers but i could have just as easily minded my own business and let u fall at the hands of the gnolls and maybe even looted ur bodies after but thats not the Ranger way. I do appologize about the secrecy but I.... wait wait wait..... what did u call me?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Mr. Foreston! Good morning!" Shiloh runs over and gives the hill dwarf a hug. "It's so good to see you! And, um... yeah, I suppose we have been helping the village... a little." She blushes.
What she was not expecting, however, was as gift.
"Oh my," Shiloh says as she accepts it. "Thank you! Thank you so much!"
Rolls:
D20: 20 D100: 80
"Hm." Shiloh just stares at the wood elf ranger, lips pursed and arms crossed over her chest; she is not amused at what "John" (or was it Garrik... how'd Kairos know that?) just said. "Well, at least you're honest enough to show just why we shouldn't trust you. How nice to know that my grieving mother could come and find my looted and possibly naked body after you would have helped yourself to our possessions and our own persons. If you're trying to show me that I can trust full-blooded elves or just you, you're really, really bad at it. And you're making me feel sad that someone so selfish could exist."
"Look... Shiloh was it? I don't know what your issue with real elves is but I served in the Cormanthorian Army for years so how about a little respect? As far as selfish goes, its not being selfish its being in the real world. I didn't let any of that happen cause to do so would be wrong so why don't we stop assuming the worst of the guy who saved all ur lives and get ready to go slaughter these gnolls" *is clearly agitated that everyone is assuming the worse of him*
"Oh I'm sorry, stranger, you're upset that I don't trust you, the man who just literally said he'd loot our bodies and watch us be murdered???" Shiloh's voice began to lilt and tremble a bit with strong emotion; it was obvious that, whether by his intention or not, Garrick had managed to stick himself into a very sore subject for the young lady. "All of my own life, I've had to endure the silent or open mockery of many just either glaring at me or assuming the worst of me not only because i'm a half-blood, but simply because my father is a drow; especially from those like you, who are full-blooded elves. I had to work so hard just to show the villagers here I meant no harm, yet do you see me demanding special treatment??? I'm so sorry if you feel annoyed at me being unwilling to trust you, but you've some nerve to get angry at us for assuming ill of you after you just said something like that and have the audacity to act offended that nobody knows who you are and what you've done. I... I'll be back!"
And with that, Shiloh gathered her gift and ran away from the group, the hint of tears glistening in her eyes. Whether he had intended it or not, Garrick had managed to get her quite upset.
*Watches as she runs off a little confused and turns to the rest of the party* "whats her deal?"........ *realizes he might have gone to far with his comment*
Nirev gives the newcomer, whatever his name is, a hard look, without saying anything. He does admire full elves, but his comments were very suspicious and he liked his friend more. Without a word, he chases Shiloh and says "I know how you feel", before grabbing her by the arm. Of course, he means that he, too, is a half elf, although his father is the human half and his blood is not drow. "Elves are proud people. They think of themselves as superior", he comments lingering on the superior part, wishing he was a full elf himself. "But we must show that they are not. We must stand proud of who we are, and that the simplicity of humans that gave us half our heritage is a virtue". In this last part, Nirev did not speak with full commitment, since he is not sure he believes it, but he hopes that Shiloh will miss that through her vulnerable state.
"Come, let's face that suspicious whatever-his-name-is together. We can't let him doublecross our friends, now can we?", he finishes holding out his hand.
(wow anthrog excellent I was actually a little worried that I was making this character come off wrong but you nailed what I was going for and I truly do apologize to anyone in the party if I'm offending anyone)
*Watches as the other half blood runs after the girl* " Well now where is he going? If we are all wandering off I might as well go check out the local blacksmith see if he has anything good" *heads off to the blacksmith to take a look at his wares*
OOC: oh wow, I’m so sorry, I couldn’t remember your character name so I looked it up in the character sheet... my character knows you as John Smith. Sorry for the confusion and I hope I didn’t mess with anyone’s flow.

”I’d love to join you, Colonel, if you don’t mind?” Kairon says, stepping after the woodelf. “That brush with the gnolls has me wishing I had been a little better prepared.”
Kairon looks back briefly at Shiloh with a worried expression as he makes his way towards the blacksmith. Hoping Nirev is succeeding at calming her nerves.

(Roll 1d20 and 1d100)
Nirev, happy to see Kairon agrees with him, looks expectantly at Shiroh to agree with this idea.
He also talks happily with the hill dwarf from the north and is startled to get a gift from him.
