Shiva nods and looks back to the rest of the group, "Hey guys, can you come over? Elodia wants to share some info with us." Sitting up straight in her seat, she brings a foot up onto her chair and leans forward onto her knee, a pensive look on her face. "I've had a creeping suspicion about the fleder...I just really hope that I'm wrong."
Nimue nods at Astrid and Caio's descriptions of this Clarissa. She takes a breath, letting it out slowly. "I realize you have no particular reason to trust me, but I feel as though I was meant to be here. If you'd have me, I wish to help. And perhaps, through some twist of fate, you'll end up helping me." She sips her wine, regarding both of them, as she waits for their response to her offer.
Caio's eyes scan Nimue's face as he considers her words. Ultimately it is Ghoul who answers first, flapping down to her shoulder with a squawk before nuzzling his knobby little head against her neck. "Fate does seem to be doing quite a lot of twisting these days. If you wish to become entangled with us, I certainly won't stop you." He motions with his eyes over to the other table before walking over to stnd near Shiva. "You know something more of that fleder mission?" he asks the human.
Nimue absently strokes the bird's feathers as he nuzzles her neck. A ghost of a smile lights her face. She takes another sip of wine and stands, walking tentatively over towards the other table which is quickly becoming surrounded by this new group. She's surprised to find that the bird has stayed on her shoulder, but welcomes the presence.
It would be interesting to hear about these fleder that seemed to have plagued the church she had found herself in earlier.
From his table over the way, Nikolai perks up when Astrid speaks of the fleder job Franny had given the group. "Alaris, what did you just say?" he nods to Ling as he takes his drink and wanders over nearby. "This is new information to me. I was told that he had given us a job to do, no one made mention of a third party." He grinds his teeth as his jaw muscles flex out against his cheeks. "This changes much."
"More my own hunch than anything else - he's not the first underworld boss I've dealt with..." Alaris replies as the warlock approaches the table with Shiva and Elodia. "It didn't seem like the sort of mess he would have made for himself, and despite our passionate egos, we're not so famous that he would just randomly devise a trap to eliminate us."

Ling nods thoughtfully to Nikolai's explanations. She smiles at the praise, but the smile falls quickly when he brings up Shiva's reaction. "I don't know what's up with her, I don't think it's just us, er, I mean, just that, well, you know." Ling lets out a deep breath, but is saved by the loud and busy common room of the inn. She follows Nikolai as he makes his way to the others, standing back slightly behind Shiva and wearily eyeing the newcomers. More new faces, great."He said someone needed them taken care of, so no, didn't seem like his deal, more like he wanted to outsource taking care of it? And about Johnathan, doesn't seem like him and his dad get on. Or his sister. Not that anyone could blame him for the latter."
Elodia nods at Alaris, smiling faintly at them even as Ling and Nikolai draw closer. "I hope I'm not shattering any of those passionate egos by confirming that. You all were a means to an end; the trouble you encountered was not of Francesc's engineering. And you were all paid well for it, I'm told." She glances from one barely-familiar face to another, gauging. The information is precious, but what other choice does she have? Her gaze settles on Shiva, who despite all odds she trusts now more than she had thought possible fifteen minutes ago. She blinks her attention away, at last saying, "Clarissa Morgenstern is here as particularly loathsome oversight for her father. It's his fleder you were sent after, and hers by proxy. He's a very powerful man, and one I would not recommend crossing unless you are certain you have the means to succeed. As, judging by his actions, I assume Jonathan is well aware."
Shiva gives a deep sigh of relief as Elodia delivers the news, releasing the tension that had wound itself into her neck and shoulders. "Whew, well thank the gods that it's just those ********. But to be able to make fleder at all, let alone that many, is quite terrifying. Do you think that the father is responsible for the daemon we saw as well?" She looks largely out to the group as she poses the question.
Nikolai rubs his chin as he absorbs this new information and pondering what it could mean for all their interactions recently. He turns to Shiva with a happy nod. "That is an excellent question, Shiva. I imagine he likely is responsible. He already has two very different planetouched children. He obviously has extensive interactions with the outer planes, so I very much imagine he was responsible for that creature being there. The big question, I think, is why was he doing this? Is this just something for fun? Are these his personal guard? Playthings? What did he hope to accomplish with them?"
"Yes, what does Morgenstern want? Humans don't go entreating the lower planes for fun. And if the beasts belonged to them, why did they want us to get rid of them? Failed experiments perhaps?" Caio looks between Nikolai and Elodia as he says this.
"Or test our capabilities," Astrid offers with a grim tone. "Clarrisa seems to know plenty of the three of you,"she looks to the three tieflings. "They could be playing some sort of game with us. And if that's the case, then they have an idea how strong we are."
Caio nods. “That was my concern with the witch. She knew of the Trio Infernale before we got there. You three aren’t that famous. When Ling and I went to talk to her, she almost seemed to want to lure her into something, she was dangling information in front of her like a carrot in front of a horse.”
"As I've said, she's vile," Elodia asserts distastefully. "She delights in holding power over others. If she teases you with information, it's only because half her enjoyment must come from playing with her food before she eats it."
Purely by association, it seemed that Trio Infernale referred to the three tieflings she had just met that day. This trio has quite the entourage, she thinks back on the days events. Ghoul's feathers tickle her ear as she shifts her stance. This woman must be some monster. The cloud of hatred and distaste hung so potent over this group that you could almost cut into it with a knife. In 100 years, she'd seen and fought her share of monsters. Seems to me they're gearing up for a hunt. It made her smile. First time I've felt at home in years. But there was something that she still wasn't clear on.
"What exactly did this woman do to deserve your ire?" She offers the question to all present, as it seems they all have some sort of beef with her, in one form or another. "I assume there's more to it than her apparent personality."
Astrid smiles and shrugs her shoulders. "Nothing other than that, that I'm aware. It doesn't take much to ruffle feathers around here it seems. I got yelled at just by asking about his weapon,"she nods at the gun holstered on Nikolai and then offers him a playful grin.
Nimue scratches her ear as Ghoul's feathers tickle her again and chuckles dryly. "Feathers, indeed." Her face darkens as concern seeps into her mind. "But if it is true that this woman and her ilk are facilitating the creation of these monsters, they must be stopped. No good can come of that." She feels the warmth of a hand in hers, familiar and comforting. Grandmama. Am I doing the right thing? She waits for an answer, and a small flame flares up on the table. It disappears as quickly as it comes. But it's the answer she's been looking for.
"Yes, if it is true, then they need to be stopped... Time will tell us soon enough." Astrid takes a sip and wiggles back-and-forth in her seat. The scar on her backside which she received from the protofleder still a fresh reminder of recent events. "I'll put a scar on her ass too when that time comes."
"Then we observe from afar, gathering information till we have the opportune moment to strike? A lover of mine recently asked me to stay away from that family, she's the one who informed me of the power and psychopathy of Father and Sister Morgenstern." Her eyes float to Nimue, then Elodia as she finishes speaking, wishing to inform the new members as to how she procured the information.
Nikolai rubs his chin as he listens to all the information. "Not much we can do about them right now. We have other jobs we have agreed to. Perhaps getting away from the city for a time while remove some of these targets we seem to have acquired on ourselves. Watch yourselves while out and about here. I feel like no one should go anywhere alone for the time being, but..." He shrugs with resignation. "Anyone who does, just keep an eye over your shoulder and do not approach any of the Morgensterns alone."
Shiva nods and looks back to the rest of the group, "Hey guys, can you come over? Elodia wants to share some info with us." Sitting up straight in her seat, she brings a foot up onto her chair and leans forward onto her knee, a pensive look on her face.
