Ling does not need to be told twice and quickly uses one of her smaller blades to slice the shirt of Alexi. "Do we contact Julia? Maybe the werewolves can treat this better than we can? I didn't think it was this bad..." She looks worried now, chewing her lip, but it doesn't stop her from eyeing the half-naked werewolf leader.
"Just hold him still," Natasha answers curtly as she swabs the pit of Alexi's elbow with alcohol and focuses on finding a vein. She grunts as she drives the needle in with considerable force - werewolf skin is hard to break - slowly pushing until the syringe is empty.
"Alright," she announces, removing the latex gloves she'd instinctively slipped on with a crack. "One of you grab an IV stand while somebody tells me a little more about why Alexi is in this state than just 'faeries'."
“Som faeries kidnapped him, and were trying to take him back to their realm. Apparently they’re working with some upstart band of warlocks.” Caio says matter of factly.
"In another life, I would have made a great nurse. Don't you think, Alaris?" Ling muses as she pushes the IV stand. "And Alexi's rescue mission was totally sanctioned, werewolf Julia asked us to help, and she's their second in command, so we kinda, like, had to, right? And it there was no time to tell you or anything, we had to be really quick!" The young shadowhunter excited tells Natasha about their evening, slightly embellishing some of the fighting that happened and making sure to stress how there was no possible way they could have waited for their mission to be sanctioned by the Institute. When she's finished, she asks: "So, will he be okay? Would be a shame if not..."
As they wait, she texts back Nikolai: "You cannot tame a free spirit! But you're still my favourite :P See you in the morning! xx"
"Nurse Ling will take care of it, don't worry! I will be right back and then Alaris will get the second shift, yeah?"
Ling runs off for a quick shower and returns in her pyjamas, a two piece set decorated with unicorns puking rainbows. She plops down on one of the empty cots next to Alexi and begins scrolling through instagram.
Alexi's condition seems to gradually improve over the course of the night and the unnatural grey colour slowly leaves his skin. Around half past nine the first rays of sun trickle through the old windows across his face and he begins to stir.
Caio sits with a hot cup of coffee, idly scrolling through twitter. As he notices Alexi stir, he stands up. "Rise and shine. Glad to see you're feeling better." He looks around for a moment. "I better get Natasha." As he walks off to find her, he shoots out a group message to his companions.
"Not gonna lie, Alexi is even cuter when he's just waking up."
After a moment he sends another.
"Oh also Nikolai I have something for you, some weird staff that a fey mage dropped."
Ling wakes up to the ping of her phone and rolls over to read the message. Alright, let's see what he looks like when he's not dying! She gets up and dresses, passing by the armoury on her way to the kitchen to restock her arrows. In the Institute kitchen, she snags a few croissants and other breakfast supplies and brings them with her to the infirmary. Tossing a croissant at Caio, who snatches it out of the air without even looking, she greets the two guys. "Good morning! You look a lot better, not that we had a bad first impression last night. How are you feeling?" Shouldn't have tossed him the croissant, now he got to show off his shadowhunter reflexes in front of hot Alexi. Own goal, uuuuugh.
"Dammit!"Alaris squeals as they throw their clothes on and run downstairs. "Ling better not have beaten me to... oh hell I'll get her!"
"HEY!" the pale-skinned youth shouts, turning the corner into the infirmary. "You never bring ME breakfast in bed!" Alaris croons to Ling, bobbing their eyebrows and grinning.
"Oh hi, Alexi... oh I'm sorry - so rude of me. I'm Alaris. Alaris Forien - I don't think I've had the pleasure of actually meeting you." The fierce and angry warrior of the night before now exercises their other set of skills as a diplomat, smiling and touching their long, slightly-mussed chestnut hair as the paladin eases themselves in front of Ling and gazes at the werewolf.

Both Natasha and Igor are already in the infirmary when Ling arrives. Igor is tall and broad, with a thick black beard, and he shoots Ling a dark look as she strolls in tossing baked goods about. By now, Alexi is sat up in bed, pale and worse for wear, but alive.
"It seems I owe the Clave my life," he observes, with a hint of irony. "Good morning Igor. Your pups fight well."
"Alexi," the older shadowhunter responds, gruffly. "I have mutts pacing up and down outside my gates. Will they start howling soon as well?"
Both men begin to chuckle, until Natasha interrupts them.
"How about you two meatheads stop posing and we find out what this is all about, hm? What have you discovered, Alexi, about these warlocks?"
Alexi's chuckle turns into a hacking cough, and there is a moment of quiet as those present wait for him to speak.
"The 'Bastards of Edom' they call themselves. They're shaking downworlders, and more recently mundanes, on the upper east-side. On your watch I might add. I don't know what it is they're searching for, but I did find out where they're hiding. They're at Piskaryovskoye cemetery."
"I totally would if you got captured by a bunch of fairies." Ling pouts and bumps Alaris with her hip. When Alexi has finished speaking, she adds: "I'm Ling by the way, you probably remember me from when I was about this high." She holds out her hand, indicating about the height of a 10-year old child. "At the cemetery? Creepy, I like it."
While everyone else is talking, she texts Nikolai: "If you don't get here soon, there won't be any croissants left and you'll have to make do with the brioche. Fair warning for a friend. xx"
Alaris' eyes light up at the roughhouse contact from Ling. How to get myself captured and not look like a total loser... Someone who saw Alaris' face just then - before they locked it back into goofy charmer mode - might realize an inconvenient truth.
At the rebuke from Natasha, though, Alaris settles down and listens quietly. "How powerful are their illusion magicks? I don't want to get fooled like that again."

Ling has been staring impatiently at her phone, waiting for a reply from Nikolai. She tucks it into the pocket of her jeans and volunteers to help Alexi get back to his pack. Heading out, she asks Alaris and Caio: "Want to come with and bask in the glory of having saved their pack leader?" Her broad smile indicates she is pleased as punch to get a chance to show off to someone. Too much of shadowhunter life is about being a hero in secret, Ling thinks, as she passes the great hall and looks at the Shadowhunter motto inscribed above it's doorway: Pulivs et umbra summus. We are Dust and Shadows.
Alaris slings an arm around Alexi's back along with Ling, the paladin's fingers grasping Ling's arm near the elbow to give the werewolf two strong arms to lean on.
"You know I'm never shy about soaking up a little adulation, luv! Good grief you're hot, Alexi! I mean literally... do werewolves run higher temperatures than we do?"

Nikolai wakes early as he always did, sleep was a difficult thing for him ever since the days of his youth. His phone chimes suddenly with a message from Caio indicating Alexi was awake, followed shortly by messages of croissants. Not wasting time with a traditional shower, Nikolai draws upon his magic to clean himself up as he rushes out of the front door, making sure to flip around the "Shop closed. Back later." sign on his way out.
A short time later he was coming around to the front of the Clave and noticed a large number of werewolves pacing around. He nods to them as he passes on his way in and nearly bumps head first into Ling and Alaris as the were assisting Alexi out. "Ah, morning! I see everyone is still alive! That's good. I found some more information on our 'friends'. And where's Caio? I hear he has something for me to look at?" His words are rushed, seemingly more pumped about this than he was last night.
Alexi twists on the bed to sit with his legs hanging over the edge, smirking at the attention from all sides.
"Easy kids, it's just a bit of silver. I think I can handle it," he remarks, as he eases himself to his feet.
"...and yes, we do, but you knew that already, didn't you?" He adds with a teasing wink.
Alexi puts on a brave face, but he's clearly still weak, and more than once is glad of the support on the way out of the Institute.
When they reach the old church's large double doors, they find more than half-a-dozen members of the Newsky pack gathered outside the tall cast-iron fence that surrounds the grounds. Julia stands at their head. She has her leather jacket and aviators back on and is chewing gum. Her face is expressionless and impassive - until she spots Alexi that is - at which point it splits into a broad, relieved smile. He raises a hand to wave back just as Nikolai approaches the gates.
Ling stands proud as the pack welcomes Alexi back, saying how it's "no big deal" and that they were "just doing their job". She plays it cool, but her posture shows that she is pretty pleased with herself. She keeps looking at Alaris, beaming, as if to say: Aren't we cool?
When she spots Nikolai, she waves him over, talking quietly to him and Alaris while the pack loudly greets Alexi and peppers him with questions. "Caio's back inside, we should go in too and come up with a plan. First step: acquire the last croissants and pains au chocolat, then smuggle them to the library and pool our information. Either the mundane police or the vampires could know some things we don't, but you know how I feel about either... and we want to know what you found out!"
Caio has changed out of his pajamas and is heading back to the other when he spots Nikolai approaching. He does a 180 and runs back to retrieve the fey staff. "Here, figured you might want to check this out." he says as he approaches them and hands the object to the warlock. "And I am also interested in hearing what you've dug up. I was hoping this shit didn't go deeper but... well we're in it now."

Igor shifts uncomfortably.
"I'll inform the Clave. See Alexi to his pack, before they dig under the fence."
Once more the werewolf starts to half laugh, half cough, but Igor is gone before he can utter a retort.
"Well then," he begins, "who's going to help me up?"
