It's quite difficult to both stealth and dash at the same time, as Burgee soon finds out, despite his and the slaves best efforts, they occasionally hit a sudden brush of leaves making a soft crash of 'whshshshshs' as they proceeded. The large quaking steps continue to boom in one direction. And every step they take, the sound is closer.
The spiders all walk towards the hut, the one oblivious one carrying the Gnome sets him down gently. The gnome petting the spiders leg before the spider itself clambered atop the hut and into the web above it. The other spiders dispersing somewhat, one beginning to weave a funneled web between some of the tree's the other two simply disappearing into the web-slung jungle itself. As Hermes gets close to the hut, some more, odd gnomish giggling can be heard as the Gnome addresses someone else. It's faint, but Hermes can hear most of the words through the thick walls. The spider above oblivious to his presence.
Well, looks like we'll have plenty to harvest today. The spiders have been busy! This is why I chose to live out here.. the food brings itself to the spiders, the spiders make the silk... and we sell it! It's so profitable, and it almost is automated! hua hau! hehehehe!
That is very true dear. I've always trusted your judgement. I'm not fond of where you decided to set up shop as those people are quite disagreeable.. but.. I suppose they are the most likely to have the money to buy what this costs. Hmm hmm...
Exactly! It's not fun business they do, but they have the coin. And it's not like he isn't there doing what he can for them. A shame what happened to his Fiancee... I heard he sent flyers to the mainland asking for help... even as strong as he is. *sigh*
Well there's no use fretting about that now. Hopefully some people saw it and are on their way. I would hate to think he has to search on his own.... He's got a good heart, that place doesn't deserve him. But without him, they would never have a chance...
Indeed.... Anyways, enough morbidity today. Is lunch and tea prepared honey?
Why yes it is dear! Hee haa heee hee Oh you scoundrel!
After that the only sounds coming out were the typical sounds of a group of people sitting down to eat for midday lunch.
Truks axes are actually quite efficient, as they shear through the webbing, and the third strike tears a hole through it large enough for Truk to get through. His victory is short lived however, as just as he breaks through the webbing, a large, massive head breaks through the canopy just above where he is, between where he, and the rest of the group is. A deep, throaty growl reverberates through the air of the massive Tyrannosaurs throat, as it turns it's head to and fro. Sniffing the air. Hunting. 24
(Well shit..)
The Tyrannosaur can smell every, individual scent in the area, and knows exactly where it's emanating from.... It realizes there's a small smorgasbord of tiny creatures here. and can smell more on their way... It's head looks back and forth, unsure of who it want's to eat first.....
Gustav: 23 Era: 14 Burgee: 17 Truk: 16
T-Rex: 17
Burgee will be 'in range' next turn so I rolled ahead of time. This means burgee can free cast one spell before he's 'in combat.'
Gustav(and slaves), Burgee (and slaves), T-rex, Truk, Era (and slaves)
(your slaves move on your initiatives to keep it simpler)
The Trex is still indecisive.. never having had so many choices all at once.... The hole is next to Truk.
Gustav could feel Wonder trembling, but says nothing; only thanked his silent stars the T-rex was no closer than it was. Any further to them, and he doubted she would be able to keep from wetting herself. Gustav himself stayed calm and collected, even as an incarnation of death loomed well over his friend. 'Like '45 all over again' He thought and grimly grinned. It is then he made his decision.
A soft click signals the loading of the aged Tabaxi's most virulent poison(Purple Worm) beginning to drip down rosebud's blade. He then lowered himself just a bit further, quietly rubbed the thicker patches of underlying sweat and fur with earth, and tried once more to disappear even deeper into the brush, glancing back now and then to avoid wandering into any other dangers. Feeling him move stirs Wonder to action. She plays look out to help move quietly, patting him now and then on the shoulder to warn him a stray twig or danger.
As for Nin, Gus, and Ka continue to "sneak" ahead. Primal fear or what lies ahead however leaves them anxious on what they will find.
(Since Nin, Gus, and Ka are with Burgee, they should arrive about the same as him. Just moments before. If the T-Rex is already within biting range/tail slapping range of Gustav and Wonder, Gustav will disengage instead and move 30ft away)
Burgee, Kauil, and the others stop in their tracks. They crouch quietly and listen. Burgee hears the beast sniffing and communicates to the others that the creature seems to have their scent. He tells them all to hide as best as they can in the brush. (Hide: 14) while he looks for cover he conjures a cloud of fog to further conceal them all since he notices that their idea of hiding was simply squatting beside the nearest brush. All the while thinking to himself, Yep, bad idea.

Hermes listening to this conversation:
The quickling grew anxious listening to the gnome speak to (presumably?) another gnome, gulping down what little of his courage he had left to quietly and quickly report back to Era.
Stealth: 20
(Not sure how far he's ran off, but just in case he ran really far, he'll double dash back to Era if possible. If he manages to reach her just in time, he will warn her about the gnome and tell her what he heard as quickly as possible.)
Once Era heard the roar, she knew they were ****ed, she just wasn't sure if they were going to make an attempt and bring this thing down, or run from it, but based on it's size? Yeah, running was barely an option. Maybe if the quicklings... I can't do anything right now, I need to know if Hermes made it out okay, and sending in Quickgold will do me no good...Era thought as her heart was pounding in her chest, trying to slowly crawl out from her original position, her cloak changing color to match where ever she moved in hopes she would be able to get away from the rex's sensors. Her eyes start wildly darting about, waiting to see if the others in the group were going to take action. I don't know what to do.

Gustav realizes just how close the T-rex was .... it could take a single step and bite stomp, or smash everyone (except for Burgee) from where it was.. all depending on where it went first, chose the much quicker path.... Attempting to stealth around a beast that already had your scent wouldn't help much, though covering it with dirt and earth would definately help, the wind seemed to be betraying the group, thus how the Rex had found you all so easily.. so Naturally.
Gustav disengages with Wonder on his back heading away from the Rex, the sudden movement catching it's eye as it bellows out another roar and begins to pursue just as a massive cloud of fog begins to appear, obscuring a large chunk of the jungle in the immediate area, hiding the slaves and Kauil mostly from sight, though it doesn't mask all the noise they're making. Temporarily distracting the Rex.. it wasn't used to so much confusion... normally everything either came at it, or ran from it.
Even as all of this is going on, a dashing quickling came back, dipping through the hole where Truk was, darting through it, and rushing to Era's side, passing along everything it had heard in a rush, before he too noticed the massive lizard.... he had heard it's roar before but the echo had made it sound much farther away than it was.
At this point... the rex was growing angrier. And with one final bellowing roar,

This wasn't enough to distract the Rex from the cat however.... it begins to charge directly at him, jaws gaping, a hungry maw opening, the vile, rancid scent of rotting meat approaching...
Bite attack against Gustav: Attack: 23 Damage: 35
At the last second, Gustav reaches behind himself, and lifts Wonder up, tossing her above the rex's jaws, making her land on it's head instead. The rex's tail swipes out at where it expected her to be...
Attack: 20 Damage: 15 smashing a tree in the process as it begins to collapse 1 to the west, where no one was, sliding against the rex's hide before crashing to the ground in a heavy thud.
The rex's tongue lashed all over the tabaxi's body while gustav is surrounded by teeth, and horrible carrion scent.
Truk, seeing his friend essentially being eaten.... charges forward, twin axes still out, letting out a battlecry in a mix of fury, and fear for his friend, lashes out.. even as his rage begins to seethe.
Main: Attack: 7 Damage: 13
Extra: 9 Damage: 6
Let go of Gustav you devil!
the first attack biting well into the rex's thigh, the second missing as the rex's foot shifted in reaction, another small tremor echoing through the earth as the foot lands nearby, the rex attempting to right himself to face off with the barbarian.
Gustav(and Gus, Ka, Nin), Burgee (and Kauil), T-rex, Truk, Era (and Minos)
As Wonder is tossed above, Gustav launches himself back a bit to avoid the back. It is not enough. It took the aged tabaxi's everything to keep from being swallowed up by the creature as he stood crouched in its jaws. At least two fangs had drawn blood from where it bit into his shield arm, now acting more as a brace to keep the rest from descending further and piercing into his skull.
"Come on, Old Man. Keep it together."He gets out between ragged breathes as he quickly and but surely loses strength in both hands and legs from keeping the beast jaws even remotely pried apart. "Hang on tight, Wonder!"Gustav shouts.
(Above is flavor using Uncanny Dodge as a reaction to 1/2 the damage.)
"Stay down. Stay quiet," Burgee whispers to Kauil and the others as he steps out of the fog (K10). He sees Gus' sidekick holding tight to the beasts head but no sign of Gus or the others, hopefully they're hidden. Burgee looks up to the sky and begins reciting the words he learned from the old woman and as he begins the incantation, the sky above darkens and begins to rumble. As the words come to an end Burgee lifts his staff high, with and then thrusts his arm toward the T-Rex with the end of the staff pointing carefully toward the creature but away from it's head and a blast of lightning erupts from the staff and streaks toward it. (DEX DC14 or 29; Half that if it passes the save)
As the lightening strikes the beast, Burgee lets out a blasting scream of an angry and hungry T-Rex to let the beast know another has joined the hunt and will not be denied its meal all the while hoping to attract the beasts attention to Burgee's direction and away from the others. And once more as Burgee's booming voice subsides, he looks up the the darkened sky which continues to rumble and he speaks the sound of the storm, raises his staff to the air and lets loose a second bolt of lightning from the end of his staff streaking toward the T-Rex. (Quickened Spell as Bonus Action: DEX DC14 or 29; Half that if it passes the save)
Both spells careful, so hope not hurting Gus/Wonder... Burgee can't see in the mouth. So 6 sorcery points. But... seems I may not need the careful part? I'll let DM decide? Lightning 5ft, trying to aim away from head where Wonder can be seen.

Gus and Ka are little reluctant to follow Burgee's, but they do so with their makeshift spears ready to strike at the first sign of danger entering the fog. Nin is less so reluctant, having heard the creatures roar and deciding to ready his crossbow after shuffling towards the tail end of the fog cloud.
Legends never die... when the world is calling you Can you hear them screaming out your name? Legends never die they become a part of you Every time you bleed for... reaching greatness Relentless you survive
With every word that left his lips, Gustav dug deep into his reserves to fight against the crunch. But they were not for him. Even as death surrounded him, it wasn't his own fate he feared in that instance. Like a beacon in the dark, the sound of Wonder's whimper had became his whole world.
"They never lose hope when everything's cold and the fighting's near It's deep in their bones they’ll run into smoke when the fire is fierce Oh, pick yourself up ‘cause."
He couldn't lift it. If he timed things right however, he could slip free. But what of wonder? The half-thought question alone sparks him to continue the song -- to continue to fight against the pressure until working himself into position to steady Rosebud. Unbeknownst to Gustav, Wonder's growing sobs had grown silent as his words finally found purchase in her spirit. She blinks back the tears and digs deep with her nails.
"Legends never die when the world is calling you Can you hear them screaming out your name? Legends never die they become a part of you Every time you bleed for reaching greatness Legends never die!"
His voice gradually picks up power with every line. Finally, the chance comes to strike as the beast relaxes the pressure for just a moment to reposition itself to clamp down further on the aged Tabaxi.

"So this whole thing was a trap?!"
"Eeh, well, I mean, I guess--"
"UGH!" Era groans completely frustrated and kind of ignoring the huge t-rex that's attacking her friends. "And now we have this ugly, overgrown lizard attacking us because we wanted to help that sneaky little bastard?!"
"Miss Era--"
The genasi snaps her fingers in annoyance, her upper lip twitching as the quicklings are poofed away in a small cloud of smoke as she moves to sit beneath one of the big trees (L6). With a deep breath, she focuses all her energy in the palms of her hands, her tattoos glowing their usual white as eight pools formed around her, slowly sifting and changing shape into wolves. She points to the rex with glowing white eyes. "Sic' em boys."

Double Dex Save: 21
Two streaks of charged levin erupt from Burgee's wood, both coursing for the same target even as he lets out a mighty challenge, the rex somehow instinctively avoiding the first, though sparks flew from it, hitting him anyway, the second catching him utterly off-guard, lightning coursing through the rex's body, static electricity erupting through both Wonder and Gustav. Though it did no damage to them, it did have the effect of supercharging their fur, leading it to poof out in all directions wherever it wasn't too stuff to do so.

Unfortunately, luck wasn't on Burgee's side as far as distractions went. The rex already had a meal in it's maw that it apparently intended to finish, despite all the annoying, fleshy bugs swatting at it. The bolts had, however, offered Gustav a chance to strike, the bolts loosening it's jaw for a moment, the strike hitting true, and quite deep as the sword injects it's venom. 13 The rex, retching as the venom begins to course through it.
Soon after, a very angry Genasi summons a pack of eight wolves, who coalesce into being near her, and at her command, charge forward towards the massive lizard. They are only able to bite at it's ankles, and toes. Most of the bites land, some of them even managing to crack bones on the large beast, the last wolf's attack being the final blow needed. The T-rex was .. very still... for a moment. A soft, thunderous growl escaping from it's throat, slowly fading into a creeping gurgle, wafting horrid carrion breath over Gustav, who's sensitive nose likely couldn't handle it very well, before the creature lurched, and fell 3 to the north... right over Truk.... (DC 10 dex or athletics) (Rolling for Truk: 19) Truk, instead of diving, runs under the creature with speed unbecoming of someone his size, making it to the other side just as the rex crashed onto the wolves, smashing them underneath into bloody pulps as they were still locked onto it's feet. As the rex's body hits the floor, the ground shakes with the falling of a titan, echoing through the forest before silence once more descends. Gustav still trapped in it's now slack jaw, would still require a DC 5 athletics check to get out of.
After a few moments, the group caught up in their relief having beaten such a beast... the smell of smoke begins to rise into the air.... the thunderbolt spells having sparked against several tree's, lighting them on fire that was beginning to rapidly grow in the intense, jungle heat.
Era breathed a sigh of relief seeing the rex go down, glad that she and her group mates made it out fairly okay from what she could tell. She picked herself up from the ground and walked over to the corpse, her fingers running themselves across the beasts scales up until she reaches the maw. She tilts her head to get a look with a small smirk dancing at the corner of her lip. "You're not dead yet, Gustav, come on, let's get you out of there, yeah?" After the genasi gives some assistance to the older tabaxi, she sniffs the air, her face contorting into one of disgust catching the smell of burnt... tree?
"Uh oh," Era turns her head to get a gander at the fire. "That's not good..." She runs off to assess to the fire issue, seeing if she could at least snuff out some fires that were smaller from spreading. As she made her attempts, she heard a familiar gruff from behind her. "Oh, I know that gruffing! Minos, come here!"
The minotaur emerged from the brush with his arms crossed, a look of discontent on his face.
"You came to try and save us? That was sweet of you!" She beamed over to him.
"Didn't have much of a choice." He would answer swiftly. "Didn't do anything anyways."
"Well it's the thought that counts!" She says as she moved to try and put out another small fire.
"... You're going to get nowhere with that."
The genasi would laugh sheepishly and rub the back of her neck. "I don't exactly have any water spells for this kinda thing, I mean I could summon something to help but..."
"... Let me try..."
She blinked at him in surprise. "You know magic?"
"I... Was studying it..." His voice came out stressed, as if he wasn't too sure of what he was saying, or if what he was saying was too much. "Knew a spell that might help... But I... I don't know if I can anymore..."
"Ah, well... It doesn't hurt to try!" She tries to keep her attitude positive and steps to the side to let him try to put out the small fire she was trying to do herself.
Minos hesitates for a second but furrows his brows and steps forward to study the flame for a moment before extending his hands, his eyes closing as he attempts to start focusing his mind to control the flames.

Wonder is (Acrobatics: 9) to use the fall of the rex to propel onto a nearby tree. Between her claws and the rest of her momentum, she is spun around and around several times, but ever lower until she hits the ground stumbling a few feet before finally falling on her face. The faint sound of hysteric giggling can be heard after a few seconds, confirming at least she's still alive.
Without hesitation or concern, Gus and Ka make their way out of the drifting fog towards of the loud noise. Nin is not far behind, though remains far more wary. "What in the--Hruggek... That's what it was!? And now fires?!"Gus and Ka leave Nin to stare in both horror and fascination at the overall sight to close in on the now corpse of a dinosaur. Ka aids Era in prying the mouth apart. "Be out... in a moment."Gustav tired voice comes at followed by a hand. Meanwhile, Gus watches waiting to help, but seeing none is needed soon decides to follow Era about.
Looking between first his claws, then that of her gestures, Gus gets within loosely ten feet of the flames as Era turns to converse with the Minotaur. "Rissshlani Oooshai Isk Elon Volsss." He then buries his hands into the dirt, and tries to mold the earth using his spirit as a guide. Even if the fire should get uncomfortable close, Gus stays focused on the task of guiding the earth into one great cube to drop and snuff out the nearby flames.
Gustav... (Athletics(DC 5): 16) comes climbing out eventually and takes in the sight. He hardly spares the fires more than a second glance or the others before all his climbing atop the dinosaur allows him to see Wonder. "Wonder!"Ignoring the pain of his own wounds, the old Tabaxi scrambles over to her, tears filling his eyes. Reaching her, but unable to touch her, he knelled by her shaking like a leaf until she rolled off still laughing, if only a little in mania. "... Silly Kitten."The tension falls away as he smiles crookedly down at the younger Tabaxi. Before she's calmed Gustav snaps cleans the foul mess covering much of him and goes to pick her up.
"Shouldn't listened to my own -- Are you alright, my boy? Everyone else?"He calls out to Truk and the others, adrenaline still keeping him from noting his own wounds. For now. While awaiting an answer, he finally takes note of the flames and with some finagling on his part pours out a drop of water. "And so it was written that the seas were to be the birthplace of many, though few would remember."As the words leave his mouth, the single fast drying drop of water evaporates even faster. A moment then passes... then two... then finally it begins to rain water in a 30ft cube over the worse of the flames. If a bit gets over others or himself, he doesn't seem particularly bothered. "Burgee. If you can amplify that a bit for now. Era -- You have my most sincere thanks for the rescue. You and everyone else. Not that I wished you ill, Truk. But to be honest, I thought for a moment it would go to you, out in the open you were. Guess you scared it." He chuckles, but the mirth isn't all there. But by then, Nin has rejoined the others and started scratching his head over the body of the rex and what to do with it.
Truk chuckles heartily That... That was a beast worth slaying! Never before have I seen such bloodlust from a single creature! This is a story I will have to tell my comrades when I get back to them! before he re-sheathes his weapons, looking around at the fires, being dutifully put out by the group. Bugree, listens to gustov, nodding, and with the voice of a man in duress, says Got it! Ok! I'll do it! though his actions didn't give off the impression that he felt pressured in the slightest. He used his powers to manipulate the weather, and alter where the water went, as Era, Minos, and Gus did what they could elsewhere, they eventually managed to snuff all the tiny flames that had sprouted.
Even in death, the tyrannosaur was fearsome looking. Giving an aura of intimidation that few other creatures, even some from the nine hells could manage, because with this beast, it was only hunger, and instinct, and rage, while atleast Demons and Devils had a reason behind their depravity. The sun continues to beat down in the jungle, and you all once again notice you're sweating, but feel cool, between Burgee's air, and the wet rain. Unfortunately that would just make you feel muggy the moment you left the area.
Truk and Burgee both begin talking, each over the other as they start making suggestions...
Well... what are we gonna do with the big guy here? Anything? Should we proceed to wheever this Gnome was who lured us here? though do we know if it was intentional or not? SHould we go back to camp? I made it fully, so it's ready! What should we do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gustav cracks a smile at Truk, but soon dismisses upon turning back to the tyrannosaur. He scowls at the mention of the Gnome, yet continued to hold his tongue for a while more. "... The Gnome may know more about the area. Safe -ish havens, such as his own, and more of the city as well." Gustav holds his hands behind his back and scowl deepens, mood failing to improve in the heat.
"Whether this was intentional or not, we will know, and see some "corrections" are made for future endeavors. But on that note, the talk I leave to the rest of you. Gus, Ka, Minos, and Myself will -- should remain here to harvest what we can. I know the poison well enough to know which part can be harvested safely, and which will need to be bleed sooner to avoid the meat tainting beyond repairable. And Gus and Ka are more experienced making the process expedient." At that, Gus and Ka break out daggers and the one axe to their name to start the process of carving up the rex. Whereas others felt fear just looking(Gustav included), the Cunning Artisansbegan the work appearing no more concerned for the dead than the rain petering out above their head. If given an hour(short rest) to work and a little aid, the duo would have shields fashioned from bones, proper bone clubs, and maybe a javelin or two from some rib bones and nearby wood without much trouble.
Gustav starts to join them, but remembering Wonder in hand, sighs and shakes his head. "...Be quick with the negotiations. Carrion will come to the area soon enough. And I would rather not we are around here without either securing... 'aid' from these Gnomes, or returning to camp." He says to the others before turning his attention towards finding a purchase in the trees to keep lookout until Wonder finished recovering. That, and directing the harvesting effort whenever appropriate.
Unfortunately due to the nature of the poison, save the meat in the legs and towards the tail end, much of the rest would contain some lingering traces of poison. But after thinking over it, Gustav encourages harvesting that as well to be purified later.
Survival: 19. (Advantage from help from those that stick around).
With the fires mostly taken care of, Era wiped her hands on her cloak with a grin before giving them all a thumbs up. "Nice work guys! We killed a giant lizard and stopped a jungle fire! Smokey would be proud!" As they carved the beast and used whatever they could with its bone, meat, and scales, Era talked about Hermes' eavesdropping and how this all may be some sort of a trap. "I wanna investigate further," Era says as she picks up one of the smaller teeth from the rex and put it in her pouch. "Maybe save some unfortunate souls from falling into this trap? Maybe it isn't a trap. I'unno..." She looks to Gustav, Truk, and Burgee. "If you'd all rather not stick your noses into it, I won't either, but if we do go, I don't know if taking everyone will be the best idea..."

I can't do anything right now, I need to know if Hermes made it out okay, and sending in Quickgold will do me no good... Era thought as her heart was pounding in her chest, trying to slowly crawl out from her original position, her cloak changing color to match where ever she moved in hopes she would be able to get away from the rex's sensors.

And with one final bellowing roar,
Occassional Dungeon Master.

Keep it together." He gets out between ragged breathes as he quickly and but surely loses strength in both hands and legs from keeping the beast jaws even remotely pried apart. "Hang on tight, Wonder!" Gustav shouts.

Two Lightning Bolt are DEX DC14. Half damage if passed

Legends never die... when the world is calling you
Can you hear them screaming out your name?
Legends never die they become a part of you
Every time you bleed for... reaching greatness
Relentless you survive
With every word that left his lips, Gustav dug deep into his reserves to fight against the crunch. But they were not for him. Even as death surrounded him, it wasn't his own fate he feared in that instance. Like a beacon in the dark, the sound of Wonder's whimper had became his whole world.
"They never lose hope when everything's cold and the fighting's near
It's deep in their bones they’ll run into smoke when the fire is fierce
Oh, pick yourself up ‘cause."
"Legends never die when the world is calling you
Can you hear them screaming out your name?
Legends never die they become a part of you
Every time you bleed for reaching greatness
Legends never die!"
His voice gradually picks up power with every line. Finally, the chance comes to strike as the beast relaxes the pressure for just a moment to reposition itself to clamp down further on the aged Tabaxi.

Double Dex Save: 2 1

Occassional Dungeon Master.

And now fires?!" Gus and Ka leave Nin to stare in both horror and fascination at the overall sight to close in on the now corpse of a dinosaur. Ka aids Era in prying the mouth apart. "Be out... in a moment." Gustav tired voice comes at followed by a hand.
"Wonder!" Ignoring the pain of his own wounds, the old Tabaxi scrambles over to her, tears filling his eyes. Reaching her, but unable to touch her, he knelled by her shaking like a leaf until she rolled off still laughing, if only a little in mania. "... Silly Kitten." The tension falls away as he smiles crookedly down at the younger Tabaxi. Before she's calmed Gustav snaps cleans the foul mess covering much of him and goes to pick her up.
"Shouldn't listened to my own -- Are you alright, my boy? Everyone else?" He calls out to Truk and the others, adrenaline still keeping him from noting his own wounds. For now. While awaiting an answer, he finally takes note of the flames and with some finagling on his part pours out a drop of water. "And so it was written that the seas were to be the birthplace of many, though few would remember." As the words leave his mouth, the single fast drying drop of water evaporates even faster.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
Whereas others felt fear just looking(Gustav included), the Cunning Artisans began the work appearing no more concerned for the dead than the rain petering out above their head.
