'Despite the stinging pain in her thigh, Kay's first blade strikes true, the tip of her shortsword sinking into one of the fey spider's icy blue eyes and deep into the brain beyond. Even as the creature falls twitching in its death throes, Kay lashes out with her second weapon at the arachnid on the wall, the tip of her blade barely missing the creature's bulbous blue/grey body.'

'As the fey spider's fangs inject their otherwordly venom into Kestrell's body, the seemingly ever-present *whispering* rises within the navigator's mind like a wave of tiny spiderlegs jabbing into his brain, into the core of who he is, into his memories and beyond into who he was...

When he sees an opening, Orlys will remain just out of melee range of the nearest fey spider, and attempt to bring his maul down on it, using his long arms to reach the distance. He continues to ROOOOARRR! defiance, again attempting to interest a spider in him, to get it to charge him and leave the others open to attack it.

'With the death of the nearest fey spider, Orlys is forced to take a step forward and awkwardly swing his mighty maul up and over the injured form of the well-groomed human man in front of him. However, despite the anger of his *ROAR* and the power that he puts into the strike, his blow once again goes astray, smashing chips of stone from the cavern wall a second time as the venom-dripping spider scuttles lower to take advantage of the humans interposed form.
Virt, worried for his companions who have been taking the brunt of the fey spiders' fury, hugs the cavern's wall as he moves around behind the bloodied and limping Kay, reaching out to gently lay the softly glowing haft of his smith's hammer upon the small of the sail monkey's back. The battle-focused woman barely notices the touch, until the miraculous device suddenly imparts a surge of revitalising calm that somehow knits her pierced skin and mends the throbbing pain in her leg.'
