You literally beat the zombies into a fleshy-sludge. You hack away at them until they are reduced to a flat, formless, rotten mass. Uanstaer is so wrapped up in the massacre that he slips on a chunk of bloody flesh and takes 0 bludgeoning damage as he smacks his head on the ground. The Vistani slowly emerge from their hiding and you see the fear on their faces recede slightly.
Glimra successfully kept her lunch done ( and resisted commenting on Uansters slip) and turned to the Vistani with a snarl, " As he said does this kind of thing happen often? Vampire Lord Stracks just pops up and dead people burst out of the ground?"
" Is no one else freaked out by any of this? I don't know about you lot but the most I've done is roust those bandits last season and I think I maybe saw a goblin once...might have been a badger..."
Joetaro glances at his companions, then at the Vistani. "I've faced a few zombies in my day, but never a vampire lord. Have you always lived like this? Does Strahd always throw his zombie summoning powers around like that?"

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
"If this a common occurrence, I don't know about the rest of you but I think we should go back. No one mentioned the dead coming back when we agreed to come here."
"I don't think going back the way we came is such a good idea. Rakta said something about 'not liking the results'." Uanstaer finally stands up at this point.
"Well, I think we should go. This kid isn't going to save them self."
Ander will walk up to Standinir again."Before we were so rudely interrupted by those zombies, we were going to come to ask you about a missing Vistani child. Have you got any leads for us? Madame Eva told us to ask you."
Standinir still appears to be in shock. His face flat and eyes darting around the landscape... still looking for the dark prince, "He often appears to the Barovians, but us, never. We have an ancient agreement." He leaves you briefly, digging around in a caravan wagon for a moment, and eventually returns with a small chest. "Strahd is getting bolder. I have heard the Barovians whisper about him seeking a new bride. Please, we need you to succeed. I don't know about those cryptic messages from the cards, but if it is Vistani you are looking for, you must head to Vallaki. Back down that road..." he motions back toward where you came from with a shaking hand. "Do you remember the road signs? Take the road that says 'Ravenloft/Vallaki'" he hands you the chest, "Take this, it is not often we find such interesting items, but I feel as if it will be better suited for you anyway."
You open the chest and find a Blue Sapphire Elemental Gem:
This gem contains a mote of elemental energy. When you use an action to break the gem, an elemental is summoned as if you had cast the conjure elemental spell, and the gem's magic is lost. The type of gem determines the elemental summoned by the spell.
Standinir chuckles, "You can check in Barovia, perhaps they have horses for sale." When you pack up and leave the campfire you head back down the road toward the gallows. There is no longer a body hanging from it. After about a days walk you all.
The Old Svalich Road meanders into a valley watched over by dark, brooding mountains to the north and south. The woods recede, revealing a sullen mountain burg surrounded by a wooden palisade. Thick fog presses up against this wall, as though looking for a way inside, hoping to catch the town aslumber.
The dirt road ends at a set of sturdy iron gates with a pair of shadowy figures standing behind them. Planted in the ground and flanking the road outside the gates are a half-dozen pikes with wolves’ heads impaled on them.
Glimra jerked a thumb up towards the wolf heads, " I'm a city girl. Does that actually work or do the remaining wolves just shrug and keep on keeping on?"
" Annoying yokel gate guards ahead....someone who doesn't feel like punching every Barovian and Vistani in the face at the moment should probably talk to them."

Ander looks at the heads. "I don't know about working for wolves but it would keep me away. But I guess I have no choice." Ander will walk up to the figures,
"Hi? Can we come in, we were tricked into coming here by some Vistani to kill this Strahd fellow. We will cause no trouble in your town" (persuasion 11) (Also, used my sorcery points to get back another 1st level spell.)
Joetaro frowns as he passes the wolves heads. "Poor creatures. Surely not every wolf is a monster in this place. Selune, please watch over them." He goes to stand behind Ander and stares at the guards.

Uanstaer lays on the ground as he looks up at the approaching Vistani and asks, "Does that often happen?"

"Well, I think we should go. This kid isn't going to save them self."
Joetaro nods. "Agreed. We shouldn't let a couple of zombies scare us. With Selune's guiding light, we'll find the child and defeat this Strahd devil."

Glimra raised an eyebrow at Joetaro but settled again when the child was mentioned....save the kid....she can do that.

'Ravenloft/Vallaki?', Glimra confirmed. " Fine....".
She glanced at the shiny for a moment but it smelt like magic so waved it towards the others.
Ander steps forward and takes the gem. "I can feel the resonance with my magic. I will look after it for now"

Joetaro nods at Ander and prays to Selune for guidance and strength. "Let's move forward."

Uanstaer turns to Standinir, "Do you know of any place where we could perhaps get some horses?"
" They'll just get eaten....", Glimra remarked sourly.
Standinir chuckles, "You can check in Barovia, perhaps they have horses for sale." When you pack up and leave the campfire you head back down the road toward the gallows. There is no longer a body hanging from it. After about a days walk you all.

Uanstaer gives the guards a friendly wave.
