As the thugs are approaching Laza, shouting erupts at the front of the warehouse. It sounds like a mix of orders, surprise, anger and alarm. Sammus barks to his goons. "Go and see what's going on." He turns to Laza. "You just sit right there. You will talk to me, this is just a pause in proceedings."
Three of the thugs run outside, leaving you, Sammus, Grimbold and the robed figure in this section of warehouse. Grimbold looks a little disappointed, but moves to put away his ropes and tools.
((If you want to say/do/try anything then please go ahead, otherwise we'll jump to the rest of the party arriving outside the warehouse))
Laza is sat in the room with Sammus, Grimbold and the hooded figure. The doors to the room swing open and a dozen members of the city guard pour in. "Please don't touch anything. Keep your hands where we can see them!" the lead figure shouts, his gaze taking in the whole room. "Search the place!" he shouts to his men before addressing the group of you "Sammus, nice to see you again. Grimbold." He nods at the large man and then at the hooded figure: "Richmond." before turning to Laza with a smile full of suspicion. "I don't believe we've had the pleasure?"
Sammus starts to speak in angry tones. "Officer Roberts, what is the meaning of this? How dare you burst in here like this?! This is my own private establishment as you well know!"
At this moment Rothnar, Ruhvon and Eloise arrive. You see a number of the city guard standing outside the warehouse. Some of them appear to be in heated arguments with some of the workers. Through the open doors you can see others inside are searching the interior of the building. There's no sign of Laza but his weasel is gesturing inside.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Officer Roberts is it? Ah... I'm Ghanni." Laza says, standing up "Sammus and I were just... uh... having a bit of... uh... a talk here." he adds, trying to make it seem that he's not taking sides, but also not being totally honest with the officer. Straight roll: 5, use whatever mod you want to see how this goes.
“How did he ended up there? And why the guard is there? Infiltrating and extraction seems out of our reach. No time to plan or execute that. I don’t think starting a fight with the guard would be advisable also. Perhaps a diversion?”
Rothnar looks around looking for another warehouse where they could start a fire or something.
Ruhvon slinks behind the others as they approach the warehouse. "It seems the guard may have caught wind of the smuggling. That is the building where I saw the cart pass through a false wall. Maybe they would like some help in looking for the evidence. I wonder if would be easier to take him out if he were to be locked up," the druid muses. "Without all his guard to keep an eye on him it may be easier to get closer."
"Our friend is in there as well." He nods toward the ferret, "His pet wants us to follow."
[Did it appear the false wall was an illusion or mechanical?]

Sammus looks unconvinced at your attempts to look nervous in front of the officer. "A talk, eh?" Officer Roberts eyes the room, taking in Sammus, the robed figure and Grimbold and his hastily packed away set of tools. "I'm sure it was going to be a very friendly one, wasn't it Sammus?" He glares at Sammus. Sammus returns his gaze and says "Officer Roberts, need I remind you that you are not permitted to enter my premises without a warrant? We've been over this before - " he's cut off by Officer Roberts pushing a piece of paper into Sammus' chest and walking past him smugly. Sammus stammers as he reads the paper. "How on Earth did the Council agree to this?""You have made enemies and they would like nothing more than for you to go away for a long, long time."
Rothnar looks around looking for another warehouse where they could start a fire or something.
There are several buildings nearby. There are warehouses either side of Sammus' warehouse and the building opposite (which you're crouched near) appears to be an abandoned factory of some sort. Perception check: 8 All three buildings are made of old timbers and, with the recent dry weather, any could burn if you had the time to start a fire. The factory behind you has been empty for a while and doesn't contain any people or goods. The building to the right of Sammus' warehouse appears to store grain and the one to the left looks like it stores whale oil in large tanks. None of the building appear well guarded, although the warehouses either side of Sammus' warehouse have a few workers milling about watching the raid. All the buildings are fairly close together and a fire in one would threaten the others.
Ruhvon slinks behind the others as they approach the warehouse. "It seems the guard may have caught wind of the smuggling. That is the building where I saw the cart pass through a false wall. The gate in the internal wall appeared to be mechanical and the wall did not appear warded or hidden by an illusion.
Feeling amazingly relieved at his seeming luck, Laza simply steps back to watch what's happening. He also makes sure to reach up and recast his disguise to refresh the time on the spell.
While the men continue to search, Officer Roberts turns to Laza. "So, I know all of these fine gentlemen, but I haven't met you before. Don't get many tabaxi in these parts. Who are you and what brings you here?" His tone is cordial, but you detect an undercurrent of suspicion.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before answering Laza takes a quick breath, touches his chest, thinks of the new, dark, moon, and casts guidance on himself. He then replies (still as 'Ghanni' in disguise) saying "I'm new in town... From up north ((is that right? I've lost my sense of direction from where we started))... I was looking for work along the docks when the big guy over there brought me in here to talk to his boss." Laza then looks around, and lowers his voice to a whisper adding "Though... I don't think all their business is on the up-and-up to be honest." deception 11
((You are indeed southeast of Dun Farum at the moment))
Officer Roberts looks like he believes your story. He whispers back "I think you may be right. As an officer of the law I recommend you not get involved." He gives you a stern look. At that moment one of the town guard comes up to Officer Roberts. "Sir, we've finished our search and found nothing illegal." Sammus overhears and interjects "That'll be because there's nothing illegal to find. Now, Officer Roberts, if you could please leave us in peace? I'm sure Nyalean has some actual criminals for you to catch..."
Officer Roberts smiles back at Sammus."You got lucky this time Sammus. But you need to be lucky every time. I just need to be lucky once." He looks at Laza. "Now then, Ghanni was it? Did you say you were done here? Where are you heading? I might be able to give you a lift on my way back to the barracks?"
( I am confused... can we open the gate on the fake wall from the outside? pushing form one of the edges to make it open or something? or did just didn't see it? )
Laza responds "Ah. Yes. That would be nice. I was just headed back to the Inn to meet with some associates. I'll gladly join until then for the company." adding with a smile back to Sammus "I'm sorry our 'interview' got cut short. Enjoy your day."
As they walk, if Laza see's his group in passing he'll quietly nod to the group as he passes and continue on to not appear suspicious. While walking he'll ask "So.. Officer Roberts. You must be disappointed you didn't find what you were looking for there. They do have some big guys guarding some of their shipments from time to time though if everything is on the up-and-up."
ah shit! I forgot which fake name I was using... Ghani was my pet weasel... I just checked my char sheet and that I'm sure of. Can I retcon the name I was using to: Namri ?
( I am confused... can we open the gate on the fake wall from the outside? pushing form one of the edges to make it open or something? or did just didn't see it? )
(When I say "mechanical", I mean the gate has a non-magical mechanism. There's a handle which can be used to open and shut the gate from the outside or from the inside. The main barrier to entry normally would be the guards stood either side of it)

(First of all, sure retcon the name to Namri)
As you leave the backroom with Officer Roberts, Sammus glares at you. "It was nice getting to know you Namri. I'm sure I'll see you around town. You watch yourself out there. It can be a rough place." He stares at you as you walk out. In the main part of the warehouse the guards are milling about. Some of them are asking the workers questions, but it looks like most are in the process of leaving. The workers look frustrated and a little on edge.
As you leave the warehouse, Laza looks to see if he notices the rest of the group. Perception: 17 You don't notice the rest of your group. However, Rothnar, Ruhvon and Eloise do notice you leaving in your disguise from the their vantage point.
Laza, once you're outside you get on to Officer Roberts' cart with three other members of the city watch and begin heading away from the docks and toward the Old Town. As you talk with Officer Roberts as you describe he replies "Yes, I was hoping for more today. I know he's up to something and thought I could catch him with his pants down. Seems he got lucky this time." When you tell him about the shipments with extra guards, he appears interested and takes it in. "Perhaps I'll have to see if I can get a warrant to investigate one of those then..." You can't put your finger on it, but there's something in Officer Roberts' expressions and tone of speech that suggests he's not telling you everything he knows. You trundle on toward the inn you've asked Officer Roberts to drop you off at.
The main barrier to entry normally would be the guards stood either side of it)
But can we sneak towards that gate and open it and then sneak away? the idea was for them to find it so Laza could make his leave... And I am playing here under the assumption that we don't know nothing of what's going on and that he is talking his way out of it. ;) If Rothnar thinks he can he would try to do so.
Just before leaving the officer at the Inn (to then try to find his friends) he'll quickly say "Thanks for your assistance today officer. If I think of anything else where can I find you?"
After leaving, he goes into the Inn where he was dropped off, orders the strongest drink they've got, downs it in one shot taking a second to calm himself and thank the Fey New Moon that has blessed him through his life, and makes it way back to their base to find the rest of the group.

Yes, you can try to sneak in if you like. You can't currently see the gate but, from what Ruhvon observed before, you expect you could open it if it was shut when you got close to it. The warehouse has a couple of dozen workers scattered around and about a dozen members of the city guard milling about that you can see. Most of the guards are questioning the workers and most of the workers are talking to the guards. There's two members of the guard and one worker who are paying attention to the surroundings, apparently on watch. There's the main front door you can see, and the window around the side that Ruhvon went in through. The path to the main entrance is where most of the people are and there's a number of crates and boxes scattered around near the doorway from where the workers were packing carts. The alleyway to the side looks fairly empty. Your judgement is that sneaking in through the front would be possible, but pretty risky whilst sneaking down the side alley would be relatively easy.
At some point, Laza will leave with Officer Roberts, but I'm happy to say you, Ruhvon and Eloise try to sneak in before that if you want to.
