You manage to follow her pruning instructions almost perfectly, and although you can quite keep up with her pace, you are doing a good job on the shrubs around you.
Corkie winks at you: Well it seems somebody has a natural gift with the roses... And yes, you are definitely not the first follower of Lathander to stop by this Shrine. Did you ever hear the stories about Lathander and Chauntea apparently having a thing together? Some old manuscripts talk about it, some believe it, others don't. I don't even start to pretend I can say what the gods and goddesses do and don't do together! I only follow their wisdom and teachings. Anyways.. the last time I saw a disciple of Lathander was about a month ago, he stayed in town a few days, and then I believe he accompanied a party of local adventurers into the Sunless Citadel... so unfortunate what happened to them Hucreles. I told them it wasn't worth exploring and it was too dangerous.. they didn't listen. Did you know this person you are looking for? He seemed to bit a little over his head, very faithful, but not well trained..
Martin Continued to work on the flowers not realizing just how relaxing it could be to do such work. "I do not know the priest but I heard he had some information on the ancient teachings of Lathander that I was hoping to obtain. I had heard of Lathander and Chauntea's romance. There was one particular book I read in the vaults of the library in Neverwinter that referenced it. It does make sense that the god of the morning and the goddess of nature and growth would be closely connected." He smiled at those words. "It seems I will be following the former adventurers to the Citadel to try and bring light to that place." His smile turning to one of resolute faith.

Corkie pauses from her work, and stares at you, adding:
I must warn you though, a Tribe of Goblins have made those ruins their home, they are not to be trusted. There are other dangers in those ruins.. there is a reason why nobody ventures there, and why no scholars are excavating the place.
Gwenant chuckles along good-naturedly and says, "Let's call it ten pitons, and two pounds each of the smoked meat and dried fruit. Should be two gold and five silver total, yeah?"Seeing the spark of hope and hardiness in the woman before her, Gwenant quietly adds, "At first light, I'm heading into the Sunless Citadel with a few companions. We're looking for a few missing persons, among other things. Is there anyone you want us to keep an eye out for?"
You get her full attention with the mention of the Citadel, she moves around the couter, gets close and talks quietly to you:
My son and daughter went exploring the Citadel a few tendays ago... I fear the worst, but haven’t given up on them yet! Are you going alone!? It’s a dangerous place.. if you were to organize a rescue party, I would be willing to pay for the safe return of my children... or if the worst has happened then I would want to know...
Her eyes are now glaring at you with revivified hope. She then looks down at the supplies you have:
These are on me! Please, find Talgen and Sharwyn, you’re my only hope!
For the rest of you, reaching the square, you see that the road seems less crowded with the sun starting to get low in the sky. The few travelers that are around are making their way into the Ol’ Boar Inn. You also notice a small fruit merchant in the middle the square with a cart full of fruit, yelling out:
Get your apples, peaches and cherries from Sontario’s Fresh Fruits! No fruit will ever taste the same once you’ve tasted the juicy sweet fruits from Sontario’s Fresh Fruits!
For Spotty’s ears only:
You recognize a message in the yellers words, if you translate what he is repeatedly screaming out using the Thieve’s Cant, he seems to be saying “Get cherries with no taste!”; which is code for “poison”. His dialect is a little broken, so you’re not 100% sure he is saying that or if it’s a coincidence. But if he is, then you believe this merchant doesn’t only deal in fruit, but has other stuff to sell.
Martin nods in response to her words. "I appreciate you letting me know. I feel I should still go and see what has happened and lend Lathander's aid to those travelling there. If what you say is true they will most likely need both my healing and my battle training before their quests, and mine, are completed."

She points to her small garden tool shed.
However, I am a trained healer for the townsfolk, so come right back to me if you require it. Even a healer sometimes needs healing.... here, take this with you, not sure if you’ll find use for it, but it’s always safe to have some with you!
(there is a donation box at the entrance of the Shrine, Corkie has not mentioned it, nor has she subtly tried to make you notice it, this is just me letting you know DM to Players, depending on how you want to play your characters; but Corkie is not asking for anything)
Gwenant gives Mrs. Hucrele a wry smile and says, "Please, ma'am, I'm an up-jumped gladiatrix, not a sellsword, I only take my cut once the fighting's done. Can't buy anything in a ruin, now can I?" She passes three gold coins to her and adds, "If you insist, you can give those back with the reward money when we get back. I prefer deeds over words, but I'm sure with my new companions and a little sweat you will either have your children back or will at least know their fates. We will be back, I swear it."
You are such an honest person, the world could use more people like you... your kindness shall not be forgotten! Oh, I haven’t introduced myself! My name is Kerowyn Hucrele, and who might you be, dear?
Both my children wear a signet ring, engraved with their names, that I offered to them once they reached their 16th name day.. they are adults now, but they will always be my babies! Those will allow you to recognize them, and if the worst has happened, and I cannot bury them, then I can at least bury the rings in their memory..
You notice the sun is on the horizon outside, and customers in the store are starting to make their final decisions on what to get before leaving.
As the sun begins to set, Zak realizes that they will likely be heading into the inn soon, and he has no money. He looks over to Hef almost in a pitiful way and tries to whisper under his breath to him:
"Hef... do you think you could spare me a few coppers for an Ale and maybe some food? I don't have a copper to my name... but I promise I will make it up to you!"
Zak bears his teeth again with a big thankful smile to Hef.
"Yes shall we head in?" says Zak over to Renny/Spotty/Hef.
Zak failed the perception check earlier so he doesn't really know anything more than the general glimmering patch that Renny has sometimes in the sunlight at the beginning. He hasn't been trying to look at it any further because he feels shy because he was originally staring at it a lot, and when she went down to kind of crouch say something or show something to Spotty, he turned his head and ignored it and so doesn't ask any questions about what she might've been showing him. He has no idea they are dragon scales!
From the outside the Inn looks cheerful, cozy and snug. Softwood and tree trunks make up most of the building's outer structure. It's impossible to see through the large, stained glass windows, but the inviting chatter from within can be felt outside.
You enter the Ol’ Boar Inn through the soft-wooden door and are welcomed by the smell of roasting meats, vegetables and ale. It’s a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You see the bard from the street walk by you and find a nice spot to start singing and playing.
The tavern itself is packed. Passing traders seem to be the primary clientele here, which could be seen as the best sign you can get. Several long tables are occupied by seperate groups of people, all enjoying themselves, but they keep to themselves. The other, smaller tables are also occupied by people who are playing games and, judging by their laughter, are either telling jokes or great, perhaps embarrasing, tales. Even most of the stools at the bar are occupied, though nobody seems to mind more company.
A few barmaids are running around and the bartender, Garon, is extremely busy, but still manages to welcome you personally:
Aaah! You must be the group Felosial was talking about... Tall dark haired man, a half-orc, a woman and a Kobold! Can’t be many parties with that description around.. will your dwarven friend and the half-elf be joining you? I have a table ready for you, and a six-bed room reserved... lucky Felosial warned me early, the place is booked out completely!! I’ll get Selena to bring out some dwarven ale for you bunch... and will you be having the famous Honey braised Boar ribs with onion soup? Or do some prefer the rabbit and pumpkin stew?
He seats you at a corner table, it’s tight but you all manage to fit around, and there seems to be a little space left for Gwenant and Martin.
Martin takes the holy water and smiles in appreciation. "Thank you very much. I certainly hope I don't need this but am thankful to have it if I do. I am going to be staying in the inn tonight if you need my help for anything but before I leave in the morning I am going to do the ritual to greet the sun to get Lathander's blessing on our quest. If you would like to join I would welcome your presence and if Lathander wills I will see you when we return."

I have my own rituals to perform in the morning, but my prayers shall be with you and your companions. I am familiar with the verse of dusk, if you wish, we can recite it together:
Farewell, Illuminated one, until we meet again We carry the sun in our hearts until then Give us the strength to carry on Until the next dawn We greet your ally the Moonmaiden Her silver light guides us until then There is always another dawn Farewell, precious sun.
Zak just right on cloud 9 also gives a big teethy Orc smile to Garon "Pleased to meet you Garon and thank you for the warm welcome! Ribs and ale sound perfect - thank you!"
Zak adjusts his greatsword and sits and looks around at Hef, Spotty and Renny. "Wow what an amazing spot!" trying to keep his excitement under wraps but not doing so well at that.
Hef leans his glaive against the wall and leans back in his chair. Nodding absently he says, "Ribs sound great. And one ale probably won't hit too hard... I think ale all around. If anyone doesn't want to partake, the rest of us can carry their burden."
As the party evaluates their surroundings, he just leans back and watches.
