Raised by a priest as an acolyte, Zoe is sheltered but determined. She is driven by the desire to protect the people and serve her god, guided by dreams that lead her toward what she believes is her destiny. It is only in recent years that she has discovered she's not fully human but has celestial blood and she's not entirely sure what that means for her future, especially now that the priest who raised her has passed away. She is in search of truth and on a mission to both serve the goddess Eldath and to discover what it is she's meant to do. Though she can be a bit awkward at times, her heart is typically in the right place.
For what seams like an hour Sildar is asking you questions. Why are you in Neverwinter? Where do you come from? What kind of skills would you bring to the mission? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
The dwarf on the other hand is only doing smalltalk with you, but he also pays for two rounds for everyone on the table. As the evening grows late, the dwarf suddenly turns more serious:
I would like to thank everyone here for there time and it was a pleasure to meet you tonight. It was a hard decision but i have made up my mind who i would like to hire.
With this he takes out some envelops and hands them to seven of you.
Those are the contracts for the job. Tomorrow morning meet up at the public stable near the Southgate. You will receive an initial payment of 3 dragons per person and a wagon with mining supplies. I also left a map inside the wagon, in case you are not familiar with the area. If you deliver it within three days to Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin the group as a whole will receive 50 gold dragons. If you should take longer then 3 days the payment will be reduced to 25 gold.
I wish you all a good night, but Sildar and i still have some more things to organize and i will meet you seven in Phandalin. Everyone else i would like to thank you again and maybe we meet again in the future. Have a good day.
With this Sildar and the Dwarf get up and leave the tavern into the night.
This recruitment is now closed and i will be sending out invitations shortly.
Leona gives a short formal bow to Sildar and the Dwarf as they depart with a practiced ease born of a life of formalities before turning towards the other six handed contracts. She smiles briefly before she speaks:
“I would stay to know you better my new found companions but I am afraid that my house steward will scold me if I don’t ensure my affairs are in order. I shall see you all come morning, until then rest well fellow colleagues.”
With that she gives a brief curtsy before returning to the table she was at previously. After a brief moment conferring with the three at the table you see an elderly man shake his head before he produces a large stack of letters and paperwork and begins rifling through them urgently, looking dismayed and flustered.
Dank manure filled the senses of Ostran as he neared the stable. He shifted uncomfortably as it grew closer. This was no cinnamon-dandelion field, but gold was gold. Ostran wore a large crossbow on his back, apparently, this elf was no bowmen. His face was worn and wore a permanent frown. Hazel eyes surveyed the area checking for anything that may be out of the ordinary. Time on his own had made him wary of other people, but he was looking forward to finally getting a job he could work. The thought of money made his stomach growl and he held open one of his pockets to take a peek. Sadly only a few silver pieces looked back at him. Arriving at the stable Ostran slowly and carefully took his crossbow off his back and leaned it against a wood fence. His shoulders cracked as if in a sign of relief. He slid down a nearby post and waited. It seems he was the first to arrive; it was still very early. Sleep teased at him with bated breath, but paranoia and fear kept him from it. He fiddled with dice to pass the time as he waited for the others to arrive.
Kai smiles at her envelope before looking around at the others that were chosen. Quite an interesting group. Can't wait to learn more. With a small smile and a nod, she heads back up to her room (this being the last night she could afford to pay for) for a good nights rest. It takes a while, but she forces her body to sleep through the excitement of tomorrow.
In the morning, Kai is the second to the stable, eager for the new adventure and almost startling Ostran as she (quite loudly) makes her energetic entrance into the stables. With her light blue skin and aquatic appearance, she definantly was out of the ordinary. Her handaxe remains hooked to her hip and a shield on her back. It almost appears to heavy for her, but she somehow manages. She moves to pet the stable horses happily and carefully while she glances at Ostran. "Morning! Are you also here to help with the delivery?"
Nothing much had happened in the time Ostran sat there waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive, well except the loud entrance of Kai. He had been almost to a state of meditation, the quiet sounds of the animals in the morning lending to the feeling of calm. The sudden jolt of activity was a rush of adrenalin and snapped him back to reality. Blinking a few times he reached into the pocket of his coat and retrieved a folded letter. It was clear this was the letter that had been sent to each of the adventurers. "And for those three gold pieces," he said in acknowledgment.
Kai nods and smiles as she pets the horses gently before looking back at Ostran. "It's more once we get this stuff delivered. Has anyone else arrived yet?" She adjusts her glasses with her free hand and smiles at Ostran, stepping away from the horses to sit on a nearby hay barrel patiently. She absentmindedly controls some of the water in the horses trough, making it spin in a small ball of water slowly. Her movements are subtle and focused as the water circles in between her two hands before she let's it drop back into ththe trough with a small splash.

Mal proceeds to his room. Once he closes the door he begins to search the room to make sure everything was as he left it.
He takes the envelope he received, opens it and reads the letter within. The job seems pretty straightforward. A simple delivery and in a few days he'll be at least 10 Golden Dragons richer.
OOC: What does Mal know about: 1) Phandalin and 2) the road from Neverwinter to Phandalin (like is it a dangerous route). Let me know what you would want me roll.
He checks his gear to make sure they are all serviceable and packs them away. He then proceeds to change from his fine clothes to a set of travelling clothes. He packs his fine clothes away. He checks that the door and windows are locked before he proceeds to his bed. He finally proceeds for the next several minutes to do some breathing exercises before drifting off to sleep.
He wakes up before dawn and gets his pack. He makes sure his tab at the inn is paid in full. He then proceeds to the public stables near the Southgate. When he is about a few buildings away from the stables he pulls the hood of his cloak up to cover his face as much as possible. He would like to take a position opposite of the public stables and wait for the rest of his "companions" to arrive.
With a hop and a skip, Hazel dashes out of the tavern envelop clutched tightly in hand. "this is it! this is what we've been waiting for!" with his free hand, Hazel holds tight the hilt of his enchanted sickle, feeling the whispers ebb at the fringes of his mind. back in his dorm room, Hazel quicklime throws together a pack of all his research and scholarly things, anything that doesn't fit in his back he gathers up into a pile in the middle of the room. jumping up and down on his bed, Hazel tuckers himself out enough to fall asleep.
Hazel wakes up with a jolt to the sound of someone talking in his ear. looking around however his dorm room is quite empty save for the pile of books in the center of the room, the first rays of dawn shining through is glass-less window, the cool morning breeze filleting in. his gaze shifts to his night stand, where his three daggers and enchanted sickle sit comfortable in their holsters, strapped to his belt. "today's the day..." he whispers to them. jumping up and strapping on the belt, he drops his back out the window, then before jumping out himself, he tips the candle on his night stand over, so that the flames would find his papers pilled in the center of the room "oops" cackling all the while as he slides down the rope to the collage garden beneath his dorms window.
skipping with glee, Hazel makes his way to the stables. as he approaches he can't help but feel a heavy knot forming in his throat, and the sting of guilt for setting fire to his dorm room. the whispers entered his mind then, filling him with calming vibes. "Today's the day!" Hazel entered the stables with a calm and collected demeanor, looking up to see two members already here. "Hello new friends!" a smile spreading wide across his face with genuine happiness.
Kai smiles at the halfling and looks him over with a friendly look. "Another goods escort member. Good morning." She looks around the stable at the other two before clapping her hands slightly. "I guess while we wait for the others, we can introduce ourselves. Get to know a little more about who we're traveling with?" She glances at the two for confirmation before smiling. "I'm Kai Loire. It's nice to meet both of you." He kindness and forwardness is genuine and her interest in the two others obvious.

Something interests Hazel as he shakes Kai's hand. It's slightly wet and is interestingly webbed slightly between her fingers. She nods and smiles happily as she let's go of the halflings hand. "It's nice to meet you Hazel. I don't care much for family names either. You can't judge someone based on their family."
Kai pushes her circular glasses up slightly on her nose and smiles at the quiet elf. "And you are?"

In response to Sildar's earlier question, for what it may be worth:
Why are you in Neverwinter? "For work, hopefully. Preferably in the area of the arcane, though I'm fairly good with my hands as well."
Where do you come from? "Amn. At least, I spent the majority of my life there."
What kind of skills would you bring to the mission? "For the -- Oh! Hmm... I suppose I don't quite scream it, what with my chosen clothing. But, I am a practitioner of the Arcane Arts. Specifically, a wizard! Runs in the family, you know. But that's probably no surprise to you considering what I am."
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? "Five years? Interesting question. One I sadly don't have a good answer for. Up until now I've been on something of a fool's errand trying to settle a personal issue that's been plaguing my family for some time. Though I hope to be settle down right and proper in this fair city. Not the nicest place I've been, but still one rife with opportunity! Or so I hope, I at least, for one more experienced in worldly matters."
Nobody bows deeply in thanks alongside Leona, and maintains the posture until Sildar and Gundrun take their leave. Breathing a sigh of relief after, he flashes Leona a tooth smile, and waves goodbye to her and all else. As the last one to leave, he takes a moment to look at another letter on his person. "Wish me luck, Courage." And with a final kiss to it, he slips it away along with the other envelope to find a room for the evening.
Yawning and popping his neck, a familiar face drifts towards the stables near the Southgate. He stood in stark contrast to his surroundings in the light of day. While not nearly as tall as perhaps the tallest of those invited, he towered over most at well past six feet. Big, pupiless black eyes held a spark excitement to them. But between the oil black skin, pointed horns that curl out and forward like a bull, and curious lack of personal shadow even while under the brightest patch of sunlight made him all the more off-putting (to say the least!) to most passed along the way.
The tiefling, for that is what he was, did himself even less favors wearing clothes of equally dark greys, purples, and blacks. Not to mention his knack for smiling toothily, revealing a sharp canines just perfect for piercing flesh. Fortunately, his figure was rather lanky, circular spectacles made him appear all the more bookish, and the only visible weapon on his person was a sheathed dagger, mitigating some immediate concerns. Voluminous sleeves of an outer robe slide back as he waves Mal, Hazel, and Kai. "My most sincerest apologies. It is not often I find myself awake at such an early hour. Do forgive me." He bows loosely to all three, and holds an imaginary hat over his chest. "My name is Nobody, in case you didn't catch the previous night. Has someone already check the cart to see if its ready?" Nobody inquires in a smooth and elegant voice. "Oh, I am sorry. Did I interrupt something just now?"
(OOC: I think Mal is outside across the street and Ostran is inside the stables with us. )
Kai smiles and looks the tiefling over, willing to do another quick introduction of herself before she looks between everyone else. "I don't think we have checked for the cart. Although I don't think our whole party has arrived here just yet." She thinks for a minute before remembering his previous question. "Oh. And you didn't interrupt anything more than simple introductions."
As if in response to the talking between Ostran and Kai, members of the group had started to arrive. Ostran welcomed Nobody and explained that they had done little but chit-chat in the time they had waited for the others. He stayed sitting against the post and leaned his arm on his crossbow to give it a rest. "I was waiting for our employer to arrive before I went snooping around the merchandise, but maybe they expect us to just make our way without a proper set-off," Ostran said as he put away his dice and scanned the area. Hazel was so short he had escaped Ostran's notice.
I'd like to check the area to see if Sildar or the Dwarf are anywhere nearby. Or if I see the cart.
Kai glances around at the growing group, quietly counting to herself before smiling at the others. "There are four of us here now. Does anyone know how many we are supposed to have? I think the girl from last night is attending and hasn't arrived. Any others?" Kai quietly fidgets with her hands and thinks for a moment. "Maybe it is best if we all head out to the outside of the stables near the streets? That way any other members notice the gathering and join us?" Her voice is slightly timid and hesitant, almost like she is unsure of her suggestion as she glances around the room for the others' input.
Nobody bows his head again in thanks. Then in the wake of Kai's suggestion, he adjusts his spectacles and adds, "On that note, I am afraid that you will be waiting for quite a while then. As I understood it, they are to meet us at Phandalin in three days. At least, if we're to receive our full payment?"He cants his head, and while cupping his chin between two fingers, a whip of a tail uncoils from his waist to pantomime scratching his head.
"In any case, I will meet you all outside if you wish to wait there. I wish to at least inform the stablemaster that we are almost ready to leave. Pretty sure the contract here will serve as ID enough."With that said, the tiefling follows the others out if need be, only to circle around to find out who might charge of the place.
Having spent the previous evening with her Major-domo Onfeld going through as much business as possible before her departure Leona awoke eager to face a day of action not talk. Arriving outside the stables with her retinue in tow the greying human woman of just shy of fifty years, though this does not show in her physique one bit, is equipped in armour and weapons of ornate and intricate craftsmanship and holds herself tall and proud, leaving none who look upon her in any doubt of her pedigree. She turns to the three followers to address them: an elderly man in his fifties who looks perpetually annoyed; a young woman in her mid-twenties who wears the simple garments of a maid and a young boy of 14 who is dressed in expensive clothes and looks envious of his mother. “I shall send word from Phandalin once I have arrived and ensured all is well and safe for you to join me there. In the meantime I trust you will enjoy the company of your hosts, please remember Jeorn that it is now you who represents the name of Ardisand.”
With final goodbyes she leaves the three and heads over to the stables proper. When she comes across the others, whether outside or inside, she greets them formally. “Good day to you all. I must apologise for not arriving sooner, I had much to attend to. I don’t believe I had the pleasure of your introductions yesterday evening. I am Leona Ardisand of Tethyr, a pleasure to meet you all.”

Desarud, can you give me a stealth check please.
Everyone else: if your passiv perception is higher then Desarud/Mals stealth, you may notice him in the shadows accros the stread.
Passive Perception: 12 (for the stealth check)
Kai glances around at the growing group, quietly counting to herself before smiling at the others. "There are four of us here now. Does anyone know how many we are supposed to have? I think the girl from last night is attending and hasn't arrived. Any others?" Kai quietly fidgets with her hands and thinks for a moment. "Maybe it is best if we all head out to the outside of the stables near the streets? That way any other members notice the gathering and join us?" Her voice is slightly timid and hesitant, almost like she is unsure of her suggestion as she glances around the room for the others' input.
Passive perception: 15

Hazel walks over to Ostran and offers his hand in greeting, a welcoming smile on his face. “Glad to be working with you”

(My apologies for the mix-up.)
Nobody bows his head again in thanks. Then in the wake of Kai's suggestion, he adjusts his spectacles and adds, "On that note, I am afraid that you will be waiting for quite a while then. As I understood it, they are to meet us at Phandalin in three days. At least, if we're to receive our full payment?" He cants his head, and while cupping his chin between two fingers, a whip of a tail uncoils from his waist to pantomime scratching his head.
"In any case, I will meet you all outside if you wish to wait there. I wish to at least inform the stablemaster that we are almost ready to leave. Pretty sure the contract here will serve as ID enough." With that said, the tiefling follows the others out if need be, only to circle around to find out who might charge of the place.
