Soar thanks the people who responded. She returns to the party and gives them a general update on what she learned, and listens to anything Tangle shares. "So it's odd, right? That the dragon and the cultists attacked here, and then stopped short of finishing the attack, and didn't loot at all. Something stopped them, or they decided not to for some reason. No one seems to have noticed anything specific that caused them to stop, right? Do you think we should talk to the Warden again? Or we could go and try to find the cultists' tracks, see if they staged anywhere nearby. I'm not very good at that sort of thing, I wish Elspeth were here. But Tangle, maybe you'd have better luck. North, right? I could also find an animal that lives here or nearby to talk to, to see if they noticed anything odd. Other ideas?"
Tangle does convey what she learned, then listens to Soar’s suggestions. “I am still uneasy that we have no preparation for this dragon’s poisonous breath, but I am ready to track the cultists. We should see to Gwen before we go.”

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
"Yes, Gwen does not need to come for a scouting foray,"Soar says. She goes to the girl, kneels down to talk. "Gwen, are you remembering anything at all? What do you want to do? It seems there may be a healer elsewhere, we could ask the best way to get you to them. You could stay here, we could find someone who could watch over you for a time, while we look into the dragon. I don't think it's wise you come with us as we hunt cultists and dragons, but these could very well be your people. What do you think?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I will come back both from a brief scouting trip today and from the larger fight with the dragon,"Soar says. "I have some very strong people watching my back to protect me, and at least one who will help ensure we specifically return to you. But we may not be leaving right away. I was just trying to check in with you and find your wishes. I'll check with you before we leave to look around."
She stands and asks the other elven children where their grownups are, and tries to see if the grownups would be okay watching Gwen for a bit (she explains who she is and what she is here to do). She then confers once more with the group. "We definitely need more protection against the poison breath. Waterdeep had nothing but antidote to offer, and also, I'm assuming the people here would have used anything that might be useful. We could ask again though. But for now, I say we go and look around for tracks, for staging areas, anything suspicious. I think it's weird that the cultists and dragon didn't do to this town what they did to the others. People here don't seem to know but maybe we'll find something out there. I can ask the animals if they have seen anything odd."
Unless someone else in the group has more they want to do, Soar will check back with Gwen, and also a grownup who can keep an eye on her while the party looks around outside town. On her way out, she'll ask the guards who and how many people have been leaving Altand since the attack, to have a baseline of what the animals might notice. She'd then leave the tree village via elevator, marveling at the craftwork. She asks the guards at the bottom the same thing about how many people are usually leaving on any given day. She leaves any track-finding to Tangle, offering to help with the survival skill check if she could, perhaps with this spell. She'd cast speak with animals about 50 feet north of the base of Altand and tries to find small mammals and birds who are up to talk about anyone odd they've seen lurking about, or coming and going from the area. Likely not a dragon, but probably bipeds.

Tangle follows Soar around on her tasks, letting her do the talking. She is ready to survey the environs, and looks for signs of the cultist retreat, with Soar’s help.
Soar does find an elf man named Iben who is caring for three elf children whose families were lost in the dragon attack; he agrees to care for Gwen until you return.
The guards say they are not aware of anyone entering or leaving the village except for scouts in the service of the King; perhaps five or six in total.
Soar finds a raven, and begins a conversation with her; she is rather skittish, and speaks of a pair of elves that left headed south, an elf that went north last night and then returned, and six creatures, some elf and some not, that arrived today. The elf seems disturbed by something, but is not willing to say what, and flies away before Soar can question her further.
Tangle, you do feel that there's a clear path head north-ish that was made by the departing cultists, that you could follow without too much trouble.
"Interesting that two elves left, and did not return I wonder who they were. And then the one who went to the north and came back, and then us coming here,"Soar says. She thanks the bird and tries to feed it some morsels of rations, when it flies off. Assuming Tangle tells her about the path to the north, she suggests the party follow the tracks. She tries to help the more perceptive members of the party keep eyes and ears peeled for any clues or tracks or sounds.
You walk through the Misty Forest; the mist is ever present, but your perception skills are up to the task. You follow several trails, all headed in the same direction.
About thirty minutes into your journey, you come upon a small clearing where the tracks are somewhat fresher. The great bulk of tracks still head north, and are older, matching the time of the original attack. But there are fresher trackers, some humanoid, and some suggesting a larger creature. Someone give me a Survival check please.
A dragon. A dragon was here, last night. Not just last night; several nights in the past days since the attack. And each time, a single set of footprints coming from the south, from the village, meeting the dragon and then returning.
There's no-one about at the moment; you can't be absolutely sure when these meetings have happened, but the most recent was probably last night, during the hours of darkness.
Jalt follows Tangle and Soar closely. He doesn't feel that its his place to be speaking to the elves, especially after his talk with the council.

I don't. I'm sorry, Soar. I am trying really hard. I can stay here for a bit. But, you're coming back, right?

Jalt would follow Tangle and Soar in following the tracks. Will use Soar's help for perception advantage 19

No, I don't think there's any difference in the tracks that would indicate that.
