The four of you cautiously approach the tower. At the edge of the clearing you are able to find a good spot to hide. In the evening sun the shadows lengthen outwards, giving the tower a more sinister look. The carved stone snake by the entrance appears to glare balefully out, sightless stone eyes malevolently watching.
You wait a little bit, but see no sign of movement nor do you hear anything beyond the background noise of the jungle.
There is the imposing wooden door that seals the entrance. You can see basic crenulations around the top of the tower, and primitive murder holes above the door and spaced around the outside... it would seem reasonable to assume that there is an entrance on the roof somewhere. Other than that, there are no obvious windows. A couple of high windows, which must have been part of the original tower, have been sealed with stone. The Yuan-ti seemed to have prioritised their dislike of sunlight over visibility.

Rawk will look to the others and whisper, "Stay here. I'm going to scout the roof." After a brief pause to make sure the rest were okay with the idea she'd back a little deeper into the jungle and leap into the air using the lattice of tree branches to perch herself on, always keeping a close eye of the tower. Once she reached the top of the tallest nearby tree she'd fly up into the air and swirl around the top of the tower about 100 ft above the roof and look for any signs of inhabitants and entrances. If she sees none she carefully and quietly land atop the tower and be still for a nearly a minute to see if she heard anything moving within.
If anything seemed to get closer she saw any movement she'd immediately swoop down to the jungle canopy 60 feet away from the others. If nothing happens while she's observing she'd swoop down to the ground 30 feet behind the others and tell them her findings.
Rawk cautiously approaches the tower. The whole time you don't see anything move or stir around the tower. Landing on the top, it's floor is a simple wooden platform so lookouts and defenders can survey the surrounding forest. A closed trap door is embedded into the roof, and seems locked. You listen for a while, but son't hear anything beyond the background buzz of the jungle. Perhaps the phrase 'silent as the grave' goes through your mind. After a while you return to your companions and report your findings.

Tempest will summon a small flame in his hand using Produce Flame and toss it against the door. If nothing comes out he'll pick up a rock and do the same.
Flame Attack: 12 Stone Attack (Dex mod?): 19 (+2 if I qualify as proficient with throwing stones.)
If nothing comes from the tower he'll cautiously approach and look for traps, so as not to get caught in a net like Erro and attempt to open the door.
"It seems too easy... but... perhaps they really aren't home? Would it do us any harm to just waltz by? We'll get them on the way back!"Erro thinks for a moment. "If we do go in, I say let's see if we can get into that door on top. Surely they wouldn't expect an attack from above?"
((lol, how do you guys manage to post simultaneously so often))
As Erro muses on caution, Tempest starts chucking flames and rocks at the front door to see what happens.
Which is nothing.
Tempest wanders over to the door, and notes it is imposing and strong. There does seem to be signs of a bit of damage on it, and on inspection sees that the door has been wedged shut crudely from the outside with wood off-cuts. Though crude, they have clearly been applied with some force, and the door looks stuck fast. They are probably removable with a bit of time, and Tempest surmises that usually this door would be looked from the inside to stop people getting in.
(I'm going to start checking to see if he's online when I post here.)
"I think it's abandoned. The door's been wedged shut."Tempest says to his allies in the distance. Focused on the door and how to get it loose. "Rawk, do you think you could chop through it...?" He takes a step back from the door cautiously as he thinks to himself. Why would they wedge it closed from the outside...unless... they were trying to keep something from within from getting out. "Maybe we should just leave it and continue on." he says changing tracks.
((It really is uncanny. It can be days of no postings, and then a same-time post, lol))
”Shut from the outside you say? How bizarre!” Erro scratches his whiskery beard and continues to contemplate. “Well, now I’m curious. It’s not like we don’t have other things to do... but what IS this?”
He pauses to think some more, and the says, “Suppose the Yuan-ti were the ones to plug this door up? The enemy of my enemy is my friend, yes?” He looks up. “Perhaps a peek through the top door would be easier? For our winged friend, anyway.”

Rawk nods, curious herself to what is contained within, and takes flight to the top of the tower once again. "Be right back." she chirps. Once up on the roof, she'll check the door to see if it's unlocked. If it is she'll open it and look in. If not she'll attempt to look for any visible lock.
Rawk pulls on the door. It is locked, but with that perception roll she can see that it, like the main door downstairs, had been sealed with improvised wedges which, with a bit of work she can pull free and open it.
The trapdoor opens easily after that, and she peers into the gloom within. She can see a wooden floor below, and can just make out a few rough pallets that might be beds. Curiously she would also note the lack of a ladder leading up to the trap door, but again with that perception she would notice some holes in the wooden frame under the trapdoor - perhaps where a ladder had been fastened to it. Pinned to the underside of the trapdoor is a note, written in a language she can't read - though she does make out the name 'Fenthasa' on it.
"There's some kind of note written on the door. I can't read it but it seems like the yuan-ti did something and left a warning or message to one of their own should they open it." Rawk kaaws from above the group. "Does anyone read yuan-ti?"
Ellis was being quiet, watching as Rawk scouted and checked out the tower, hearing of the note. "We should take the note back to the village when we return. But we really should keep going if there aren't any Yuan-Ti here at least." he said back, knowing that they really should get going again before it gets too late in the day.
Erro concedes that moving on seems like the best idea, though he is still intensely curious. Why would the Yuan-ti bar it from the outside?? The war party could only create a distraction for so long, so the explorer in him would have to wait.

(Are there any windows or features to the tower? If so, perhaps Rawk can fly up to have a peek inside, and Erro will suggest as much.)

((Brad sure wants to see what is in there, but Erro would want to move on since they are on a time-sensitive mission.))
