Sir Darak leaps into the pit, slamming heavily into the cobbles. The slippery stones make for a clumsy landing and he goes down hard on his shoulder. (Damage: 2)
He gets to his feet as the others are dropping onto the ground behind him. The raptors move in pairs, taking long strides. The man who had leapt and rolled to his feet is trying to stay to one side of them, but two of them focus on him. One leaps forward flying across a short space and slams into the man, knocking him down as it claws into his flesh, it's jaws ripping at his throat. A brief scream is replaced by gurgling noises. The other raptor turns, almost protectively of the one that's made a kill.
Sir Darak leaps forward, roaring at the raptors as he moves forward. Two seem to focus on him, unconcerned by his fierce yelling and teeth baring. The last two raptors run past rapidly and leap against two of the men still clambering down the wall. One is dragged down and lands with a thump under the claws and jaws of a raptor. The second raptor bites a leg and pulls, the man falling, head and upper body smashing into the ground as his legs are held up by the raptor.
As the two raptors facing off against Sir Darak seem about to pounce...they suddenly stumble, looking almost drunk, and both flop over. The crowd goes crazy, jeering and upset, as Sir Darak sees an obvious opening and runs past the two forms. A few rocks fly from the crowd hitting the raptors who shake their heads as they push themselves to their feet. They look around and see Sir Darak fleeing, and make chase. A few other rocks fly at Sir Darak. Sir Darak dodges as incoming rocks fall around him.

Back in the crowd, Badger has casted his sleep spell, but a man next to him seems to have noticed. Barty, you notice the man about to make an outcry and so you pull Indiana's leash and use his body to push you into the man. He grabs at your shoulder though in anger, immediately, yelling "CHEATERS! CHEATERS!" Grapple attack. Resist with Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) vs DC 10.
Meanwhile, Sir Darak, (assuming you're still conscious from the rock attacks) you've got a lead in this foot race and have a clear path to the ropes. Your foot falls make a rapid "thud thud thud" as you race across the slick cobblestones towards the ropes at the end. Your eyes are open for rocks or other danger from the crowd above as you charge the rope, taking a huge leap, grapping a knot half way up, and with strong motions pull yourself up. Right as you reach the edge and slip a leg over one of the raptors leaps through the air and makes a wild grasp at your hanging leg with it's jaws.

Sir Darak Darkhall: Stumbling painfully as he lands upon the hard stone, Darak does not allow his minor injury to slow him. Saying a prayer to Tyr, he charges forward wreckless, gritting his teeth in preparation for a collision that does not come. As the two Raptors fall before him, he realizes what the Wizard has done. The Knight quickly waves his hand at the two creatures, hoping to make it appear he somehow put them down.
Deception: 18
Taking the opportunity presented to him, the Paladin sprints past the beasts, gracefully dodging thrown rocks from the crowd as he makes haste toward the ropes. Leaping up, he grasps and climbs, pulling himself upward with all his might. Thinking himself free, a raptor pounces at the last moment. Reacting quickly, Darak is luckily able to roll onto the safety of the landing.
Aware that assisting him may have put his friends in danger, Darak pushes his way through the crowd to reach them.
Out of spell slots and seemingly unnoticed, Silas will quickly makes his way out of the crowd towards incoming Darak. He will try to stop him and whisper "No need to rush in yet. They got it handled. Best not to add to the scene," before continuing his walk out out of the crowd.

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kasaaptu approaches the trouble maker struggling with Barry from behind, hooking her sickle between his legs, pointy end facing up toward his privates, places a hand on his shoulders and whispers in his ear.
"either I give you a gold piece for your silence, or I can take your jewels for a trophy....release my friend and close your lips so I will know your choice."
Sir Darak climbs out of the pit just as the jaws of the scrambling raptor clamp shut on the air where his dangling bare leg had been. The raptor falls back down into the pit with a thud. Sir Darak turns, hoping to rush to his friends aid in the chaos, but this area at the top of the ropes is clear of crowd and a man in an official looking dark blue uniform grabs Sir Darak's wrist and raises his arm into the air and yells to the crowd, "Qualish-ka mortagalaaaaaa!!!! Darak!! Eeek cluck Mataska!!! Ser denndenaa pfta?" The last questioning statement is made to Sir Darak. He stares into his eyes for a moment, "Hurk Common?"
Meanwhile, in the pit, five people lay unmoving, bloodied and gored by the Velociraptors. Three of the raptors are busy eating. Five other people slowly make their way, in a widening line, towards the end of the pit. The two raptors that chased Sir Darak are moving in unison, carefully closing space with the five people, while the last raptor approaches the group from the rear. The people are aware of all three raptors, but struggling to watch both directions at once.
In the crowd, Barty, the man reaches for you, but you spin and break out of his grasp. Indiana, seeing you being attacked lunges forward barking ferociously. The man tries to back up from the lunging dog, but his legs run into the gnome and he falls over onto the hard ground with a thud. Barty pulls on Indiana and the two rush off into the crowd with Badger scrambling up and following just behind. Kasaaptu glares at the fallen figure, fingering the blade of her Yklwa disappointedly as she follows the two others.
Silas, you attempt to make your way through the crowd to get to Sir Darak but a hand tugs on yours. You turn and see the woman that brought you here. She's crying, but her tears are of joy. She pulls to Silas and gives him a big hug, "Thank ya, thank yas all. My name is Draza, I can neva thank ya enough. Please, come to my home, we make you dinner, and pay you, we...have some silver, it is all for yas. Please, whenever you want, we help you however we can. Number fifteen, crabtree row in Tiryki Anchorage.." With that said she rushes back to her husband.
Suddenly a huge eruption of noise comes from the crowd. Those nearby look down. The two raptors between the five people and the ropes are suddenly entangled in thick weeds and vines that have sprout out of the cobbles. They snap and thrash in the weeds around them. The five people rush around the weeds and grab for ropes. The trailing raptor leaps on one of the peoples backs, taking him down in a bloody heap. The four people are climbing the ropes near Sir Darak when soldiers rush over and yank on wooden pins in the ground that fasten the ropes. The ropes fall, as each pin is removed in short order. One man manages to grasp the edge of the pit as his rope is release, but a soldiers steps forward and puts his wooden sandle on his hand, pressing down. The man slips and falls. The five have fallen back into the pit with no escape. A booming voice comes from the main stand, where a servant speaks out, his voice loudly booming over the audience, "Interference in the run will not be tolerated. Those found to interfere will be added to the run!" The five in the pit seem to be wailing for mercy.
Sickle, everyone seemed so preoccupied with Sir Darak's escape that no one seemed to notice your spell. But your good intentions seem to have been for naught.
Sickle shakes his head, glancing up at the Merchant Prince’s with a glare. But he knows when the moment is gone, and he values his own hide as well. He slips back into the crowd and away from the pits.
The crowds moving away from the run and back to the city are like a small flood, and you lose various companions in the crowds. Back in the city you each head south through the main market, passed the walled off warehouse district and into the southern market ward. Here the 'middle class' is more prominent. The market wards has two large hills both rimmed with walls and also connected by a long bridge that stretches between them, with arched pillars covered in vines holding them up. You're soon moving through a place called the "Red Bazaar", which is more of an everyday goods market such as vegetables and meats for the locals, more modestly styled and crafted clothes, as well local goods such as rain catchers and bug repellant are more common. This market feels less frenetic and more homey, as commoners move calmly between the stalls doing their shopping. Near here you each eventually find Kaya's House of Repose, nestled back against the hillside, somewhat isolated from the main streets, and shrouded in thick foliage that blocks out the noise and bustle of the city. Heading inside, out, you find a common room layed out into many small private booths via a warren of walls, each booth having a sliding curtain. The building is a couple degrees cooler as it sits on the shadowy side of the hill and amongst the greenery.
When you arrive you are greeted by the well dressed human at the front desk. He greets each of you by name, though you've never been here, and hands you a wooden token with a number on it, for your private room. He says, 'Your party has gathered in the Sibasa room in the back. Food and drink is available. Just down the hall on the right, first doorway on your left.”
The rooms set aside are lovely, with wide open doorways into tiny private walled gardens. A wooden folding door can be pulled across to seal the room. The beds appear soft and well tended.
Sir Darak, Sedrik is waiting for you, but seeing your armor missing and your light attire looks confused and you fill him in on your recent victory. The claps on the back from the crowd and general respect for your escape has vaulted you into a bit of a position of fame it would seem. You were called out by name by dozens of people on the way to the Inn. More than one young maiden in colorful attired approached and offered you an evening of entertainment. Sedrik drinks up the heroic story, regarding you with pride and envy.
You all meet in the Sibasa room. Sir Darak has cleaned himself up though not yet re-donned his armor. Silas has also taken his armor off and sits comfortable and cool in his light tunic and half-pants. Kasaaptu, Barty, and Badger are all wearing colorful local garb. Sedrik, Boris and Gregory are all wearing lighter, but still traditional northern garb and attend to the group, pouring wine, passing food and so on.
The group shares the various stories and things they learned during the day. Gregory then talks as well. “So, we spent the day mostly in this market talking to people, asking around about politics and how the region runs. There is a dinosaur race through the streets of the city, once a week. The next one is in two days. The laws of the merchant princes don’t extend outside this city. In the jungle, I’m told, the law is the that of tooth and fang. I did find a bit of information about some of the groups that work in the region. The Emerald Enclave is somewhat active in the area. They try to protect people from the undead threat in the jungle and maintain several hidden outposts in the jungle apparently. The Flaming Fist mercenary company, run out of Baldur’s Gate, has an outpost near here, called Fort Beluarian. Seems like they’re mostly here to plunder the jungle of treasure. The order of the gauntlet has a force here. They created a place called Camp Righteous down the river Soshenstar. It was overrun by undead, and they ended up building a new fortification called Camp Vengeance even deeper in the jungle. (both of those places are on your map that Syndra gave you). That’s about all I was able to find out.”
You sit and enjoy a lovely meal, featuring some exotic fruit, grilled and flavorful, along with some skewers of stringy but pleasingly tangy meat that turns out to be Brontosaurus. A tangy soup made with chunks of fish from the sea is also rather tasty.
Barty, Badger and Kasaaptu then share their information about potential guides, though they say they only spoke to a couple before being pulled away. There are many options for the group to choose from in the city.
It’s 7pm by the time you’re done sharing all of the information and eating your meal. Kasaaptu, you haven't had a chance to look into magical wares (though, knowing they cost on the order of 100 gold or more, I'm not sure if there's value in you tracking down a seller at the moment).

I would like to hope we would not be in trouble due to our recent activity but I would like to wrong but safe rather right and in danger. I do not believe those at the Executioner Run were all lead astray so easily. The young lady, Draza, has offered to pay us for our actions but I feel like that is best left as an action of kindness rather than an act of greed. My personal opinion is we settled on a guide tomorrow morning and set out before day is done,"

Badger agrees with Silas that they should leave sooner than later, but more for the reason of making a decision and getting on with the quest than for fear of arrest. He also suggests that a visit to Draza might yield helpful information, that the extra coin could be useful and that there was no shame in receiving a reward for a good deed. Badger further suggests that with a slim budget, securing Azaka for free might be worth taking the time to complete her side-quest, rather than wasting time trying to raise money for an expedition.
If nothing further eventuates tonight, Badger will retire to rest and memorise his spells. He will also take the time to cast Find Familiar as a ritual.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Kassaptu is enjoying the recounting of the days adventure and the retellings of Sir Darak brave feat. Each one more extravagant then the last. The spells she cast were draining and did not work the way she had thought they would. She can still hear the voice of the gibberish ghost muddling her carefully constructed messages. But, fate intervened and the largely the other prisoners did her work for her and panicked themselves into raptor meals on their own. The frequent recounting of the Paladin's selflessness was starting to get to her a little. Making her think about her own motivations and actions.
" two of the guides we met seem suitable and had decent motives that align with our mission. But, upon hearing of the emerald enclave and their fight vs the unliving makes me think we should see if they have a guide or other aid for our quest. I am going to retire early and work out a few things. I am happy to go any direction you all agree on. With paragons of virtue and heroism like Sir Darak on this quest, along with the foresight of the badger, and Bartys big dog, I feel we are well equipped to save the world. If you need anything from me, I will be in my room."
All thoughts of acquiring a spell scroll have passed from her mind as she neither has the funds nor the time to seek them. Maybe fortune will provide during the mission. Once she gets to her room she will pull out her sickle with the charred handle. she crafted the handle herself . One could say it was her first lesson from her Patron. He guided her to a tree nearby her cave that had been struck by lightning. She harvested a branch that still had some heft left, along with some bark that she cut into strips and twisted into cordage. The sickle blade was the first weapon she ever owned. She found it in a field when she fled her home and had the use it that very first night on a goblin she encountered in the hills at the base of the sword mountain range.
Her Patron told her the lighting struck branch and cordage would provide for the physical component of the first spell he was going to teach her. It would allow for her to maintain the sickle in her hand as she cast it, even using the weapon to complete the somatic portion of the spell, in this case slicing a zigzag through air towards the target. It really isnt all that effective a weapon on it's own, but it has a certain sort of charm.
She then pulls out the new weapon, which surprisingly is about the same weight. The 3' shaft along with he 18" blade gives her quite a bit more reach. She loves the balance and the way it feels in her hand. She takes a position in the middle of her room, sickle in her off hand (left) and the yklwa in her main hand, held near the center. She practices moving in all directions and thrusting and slashing with the short spear. Using the sickle she figures she can parry and attack, hook a weapon, arm or leg and use the yklwa to thrust. She spins the spear in one hand to manipulate it into position for throwing. It is effortless, and exciting. She even works out some techniques that could be useful to bar the enemies arms or even use for choke holds..
Silas will try to stay as close as he can and cast shield of faith word.

What's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorcerer?
Class.
Barry enjoys this lavish feast as it’s much more than he’s used to as a normal meal, sneaking as much meat as he can to Indy under the table. Happy to listen to the tales and information.
Silas relaxes in his seat with a full belly and comfortable in his seat "As much as I enjoy this, I will not be overstepping when I say a journey out of the port may be better sooner than later depending.
Kirin - Level 15 High Elf Wizard (Evocation) - Zorg's Lost Souls- Overchannel Steel Wind Strike for the Win against DemogorgonSilas - Level 11 Human Cleric (War Domain) - Tomb of AnnihilationDoneBadger agrees with Silas that they should leave sooner than later, but more for the reason of making a decision and getting on with the quest than for fear of arrest.
After an hour or two she prepares for sleep.
