"I thought I heard someone out there,"Daishi says and sheathes his sword. "A crypt. Rather boring, but I have a delivery to make of some bones. Yourself? Nice to see a friendly face. These woods have been hostile of late."
Daishi will converse with the ranger, and assuming he is friendly will welcome him to join up. He will beckon his retainers forth when it seems safe to do so.
He still intends to leave the fairie area well enough alone, unless the orc has other plans.

Odyssey | Daishi Longguard | Human | Healthy | Perception: 13 | Equipped: old leather armor, green cloak, fine clothes, signet ring | Wielding: shortsword, shield | map
Peter rushes suddenly out into the clearing. He stops, puts his hands on his hips, and roars (in Orcish),
Surrender now, human, or face the wrath of Gotemash the Mighty, Lord of Death!
"Human! What is your purpose here?" demands Sleepy Peter to Daishi, his chin in the air, with all the gravitas a gnome can conjure. For added effect, he casts Prestidigitation for some sparkly lights around his head and some low mood music.
Gotemash to Sleepy Peter - I'm sure Gruumsh would think I'm a Bad Orc, and you know what? Old One Eye's right. I'm a Half Orc!
and to Daishi - Pleased to meet you. I am the Ranger Gotemash. My friend here is Sleepy Peter. We're running from "chief" Blood Eagle. <spits to one side> That goblin gives Orcs a bad name. It used to be my uncle Bashag's tribe. We were wanting to take shelter in Conyberry, but it appears we have time to look around with you at the crypt if you like?
Daishi steps backward as the gnome rushes from the forest roaring in some language.
After being greeted again in common with less apparent aggression he relaxes. "I didn't catch that first part," the middle aged man says. He glances back at the gnome Harir who is grouped up with the others just outside the clearing.
What language was that?
Common clothes, staff, spellbook. Interesting. A spellcaster and a ranger would be useful allies if reliable. But I wonder if he is just a charlattan.
Having already greeted the half-orc, he listens to his notes on lineage carefully. "I am Daishi Longguard, and was sixth in line to become Baron. These are my staff." He approaches. "I would like to confer with you on what has driven you from your tribe. Perhaps we can find some common purpose in that after my errand is done?"
He points back the well he has just left behind. "Careful here, unless the two of you want to be taken by fae. I suggest we leave the area."
Well met to the two of you! I was wondering when our stories would collide!

A test? Clever but easily countered. Is he sensitive to race perhaps? I'll test him in return.
"Do as you wish. Follow, or don't follow." Daishi smiles. "What about you, gnome? You haven't answered my question yet about what language that was, or what you are doing."
"In service, perhaps, to Gotemash?"
Safely away from the well, Daishi finds a log to sit on. Was I really almost killed just short minutes ago? Life is strange. And now these two here.
If possible, and uninterrupted, the old knight will take a short rest. Gawain will keep watch.
I don't find Peter annoying at all! I think some tension between characters is interesting, and gives us a chance to talk.
"Very well. That was Orcish, the vernacular of the Blood Eagle war band, to be exacting, of the Crags dialect of Orcish."
Peter crosses his arms.
"I am here with my compatriot, research specimen, guardian, and unsurpassed Fae dispatcher, Gotemash the Mighty."
"Now tell me, 'human,' what is the nature of this well, and of these abnormally large mycelia I see before me. Or, if you refuse, will I be forced to prepare a Detect Magic ritual divination to discern this information?"
Gotemash to Daishi - He was asking you in Orcish to surrender. "Fine, fine. But don't come crying to me, Gotemash, if you awaken one night to find yourself trapped in the Feywild being eaten by sprites."
("Already I feel put upon! I can't even use my old text color around this guy!" With a subtle hand movement and an invisible *click*, he turns his text color to Teal.)
"Nevertheless." He turns his attention back to Daishi. "Mushrooms. Well. What's going on here?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gotemash to Daishi and Peter - Curious mushrooms and fey lurking about? I'm t'inking bait for a trap? Yes, can we find anot'er resting place? Please? He looks and listens around the clearing. Perception 15
You feel a tingling of magic in this space and seem to recall old tales concerning toadstool rings, faeries and missing children. These are some big toadstools in a big circle. The silver ladel seems to beckon you and you all start to feel mighty thirsty.
As you sit lackadaisical like on the ground, watching Ogre number 3 battle Jaesons grotesque tentacle thingy, you feel a wicked pinch on your behind. When you look down you see a large beetle with huge pinchers. You figure he didn't appreciate you sitting on him...
( Summary and back to action soon as i get home. Hope you had a happy thanksgiving)
Skip bbq's Ogre1 who stumbled into one of Brees holes in the ground, finishing him off. Noa's attack on Orc10 puts him down for good, leaving orc 5 and 6 in the Gatehouse in defensive positions, ogre 2 working his way around the northern corner of the building to spot his friend roasting on the ground surrounded by blood soaked adventurers standing over orc corpses. Ogre 3 is has stopped midway on north eastern side of the shrine, being attacked by Jaesons tentacle and now Kouri has positioned herself in its path to taunt an attack while she is using the dodge action. Perzy'S has dashed out the hole in the wall and to the hole a little farther south to get a sneak attack from behind ( not yet occurred). Tibby has sat down rather then move to improve his position, though it might have been the safer bet ( other then getting bit by a beetle) since Bree has dug several holes and hidden them via magic. The Shrine itself is filled with a still unknown quantity of Orcs.
The sun has now risen as the battle continues, the valiant efforts and skills of the adventurers is overwhelming the Orc defenders and their Ogre pals. The smell of death fills the air as the next rnd beigns.
"Your wisdom is overpowering, Gotemash. Although before we move on, I admit I am a bit parched..."

Before you turn to leave an Orc ranger exits the tree line and approaches in a friendly manner. See post #618
Gotemash the Orcish looking Ranger to the tall Human Fighter in front of him - Yo! Longbeard! Where you going?!?
Gotemash puts both hands up at shoulder level with fingers splayed and empty palms outwards.

"Fae, Hmmm? Is that a threat?" Peter demands, "How do we know you aren't Fae?"
"If you're truly human, as you so suspiciously appear, tell me this: WHAT is the correct way to eat a potato? Only a true human would know."
Peter maintains his stance, hands on hips, chin out, eyes drilling into Daishi.
