You decide to head to the docks to see about suitable waterborne travel before finding the sanctuary of Torm. You had considered commissioning the peg-legged gnome captain, but then thought better of it. It didn't seem he had very good luck in the boat sailing business, and there are no shortage of boats to hire in Luskan. Down by the docks, you see a wide variety of vessels. From triple masted galleons to 4 man row boats. There is a bulletin board showing vessel availability and the Captains and or owners. Some even have standard fees listed per hour, per day, and per week.
( I will post the ship and captains names shortly)
As Lia leads the new friends to the tailor shop owned by a gnomish master tailor named Gad Zooks, Bellows shows off his first piece of magic he learned. He says to them, " watch this, it's really a lot of fun to do"
He makes a fist with his left hand and blows into the gap between his thumb and hand. He shakes his fist for a sec and then acts as if he is throwing something to the ground. About a sec later the dust around his feet begins to twirl and a mini-cyclone lifts him about 10` into the air. He holds his hands up, clearly enjoying himself and says " Ta Dah! And then lowers back to the earth.
The Arcane brother that is Lia's contact works at the Zooks clothing shop and he is on duty.
"Nice." Lia informs the kobold with a smile of not quite amusement.
Moving into the shop with confidence, Lia moves up to the man she had been talking to the other night. "xEcuse me, but I was hoping you would be working today..." She gives him a sultry smile as she pushes her white-blond hair behind her shoulder with a careless motion of a hand.
" welcome to the best tailor on the Sword coast, oh it is you. What a wonderful surprise, I wasn't sure If i was dreaming you or not. What can I help your beautifulness with? A new cloak, a blouse?"
Larson briefly looks askance at the short golden-scaled Bellows. Clearly not used to seeing his kind here, especially in the high end district. Around the shop you see examples of the extremely fine cloth work by the artisan Gad Zooks. There are well organized bin filled with the finest silks, wool and linens from many exotic places
Checking out the dock bulletin board you see many ships looking to add to their crew, sailor's looking for work, a few ads formboats for sale and a listing of ships available for rent or commissions.
For sale: sailing dinghy/ rowboat " Crimson Victory"- 50gp see Dock master Frank Stein for info
Keel boat "Knuckle Sammich" - 5,000gp see Ship Steward for 1st Ship district
For Rent or Commission:

Sailing Ship " Medusa's Smile" Captain "Flap" Jack Moss. 5gp per day
Sailing Ship " Bilious Barnacle" Captain Gloria " The Gargoyle" Far'Qwar. 5sp per nautical mile.
There is one more ship on the roster that catches your eye. It doesnt say what type of vessel, just a name and the capain.
For commission " The Sea Litch" Captain Giban Z. Schmuck, gnome...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well, I actually came for something else..." Lia says, giving the man a sultry smile. She moves over closer to him and fluffs her hair with a hand as she moves. "I remembered you seemed so well-informed and knowledgeable about things, so you were the first person I thought of when my little friend here asked about Abernath the Infernal..." She gives the man a smoldering look as she moves even closer. "It would mean ever so much to me if you could help us with anything you know about this Abernath fellow..."
Persuasion, if necissary: 18 If I have advantage for any reason: 11
" Did you say Abernath the infernal? Nobody has seen or heard from him in 60 or so years now. He was a remarkable wizard, but what could this guy want to know about him?"
He says, with a little hint of distrust in his voice.
Just itching to say something, but not wanting to mess up the progress Lia is making, Bellows adds " and what does it take to become an Arcane Brother?"
The dwarf perused the board grunting at every mention of a boat or ship. He turned and looked up at Yensen. "Listen here lad, I'm not sure what we are after or why but I am telling ye now, me and water don't mix. You best be believing that if I am going out to sea we are having the sanest and sturdiest of captain and ship."
He crossed his arms in firm finality. The dwarf taking on the rigidity of his chosen domain.
As Yensen scanned the ship list his diminutive companion voiced his complaints about the whole sea fairing adventure. Yensen looked down at the dwarf and smiled at the man's obstinance.
"Sounds fair to me. Although I found the gnomes quirks rather amusing." He responded.
"How about we take a look at the "Grinning Dawn" and the "Medusa's Smile"? We can take stock of both the ship and the crew before we make our decision. I fear our journey may be longer then would be practical for the "billious barnacle"." Yensen continued as he began to scan the docks, hoping to catch sight of the boats in question.
( I will make a map of the docks somyou can pick which boat to view first)
@ Lia
Lars blushes a little as he catches the vibe your sending and he gets a quick glance at your ample cleavage..
" um a home? Um, yes I believe he did have a residence here in town. Not sure if it has been reoccupied or not, but we would have to go to the Arcane Tower by the river to check in the membership records in the library. They have records all the way back to the founding of Luskan."
The he looks at Bellows with a tinge of revulsion and answers his inquiry. " as for membership, they dont generally allow those of lesser races full membership in the elite Arcane Brotherhood, but there are varying levels of member status you can apply for. The basic membership is for everyone, costs an annual fee of 50 gp. You get a membership identification amulet, monthly paper on the happenings in Luskan of interest to magic wielders which even has ads for jobs. You also get limited use of the library. The 2nd tier you can get after qualifying in front of the board or regents after you have established your reputation and have paid the base membership. "
Lars turns his attention to Snus, " 50gp is a paltry sum compared to the benefits of memberships. Access to the library alone, is worth 5 times that. If accepted to the next level there is access to training in the Hosttower which is priceless. The nice thing about money is, unlike Gods and men, money doesnt judge. It spends the same same either way. I like to say, the only bad money is no money. The Arcane Brotherhood is filled with people, and as people their alignments vary along with their quality."
@ Lia
" if you wish to meet me to visit the Hosttower tomorrow morning, I can get you three in and we can see what we can dig up on old Abernath's address."
"I'd love that..." Lia says with a coy smile. "Maybe we can meet up afterwards as well..." She gives a teasing smile as she collects the other two and heads towards the door. "Till tomorrow then..." She says with a glance back over her shoulder, making sure the man is checking her out as she sways away from him.
"That went well." Lia says as she walks with the two back towards the tavern they met in. "Seems like we have found a good lead here... What do you two think?" She glances at her companions.
