that Shamara is also known as The Mother and is part of the new god pantheon. The others in The Family are Talos (The Father), Aiden (The Son) and Camiela (The Daughter). The Family were the main gods worshiped among the civilized societies especially in the Highlands where most of their larger shrines and temples resided. Shamara's largest temple can be found in Holden Heights. She's known to have a very large number of followers that work as acolytes spreading her good will to those in need.
Within this monastery, there are no large art displays portraying anyone in The Family as all of the shrines here are dedicated to the old gods you've come to know as Lugh and Merveille.
((it's always the most devoted characters that struggle with godly connections in my campaigns for some reason haha))
Xinq, you would know...
That Shamara is known as The Mother and has blessed the lands with many wonderful gifts. One of the most noteworthy gifts especially for those along the Glimmering Sea is that her blessings is what provided such an abundance of fish in the sea. This caused many of the small fishing villages along the coast to quickly expand and build up into larger towns and eventually castles. Many people think this is the reason for the rapid expansion of Thousand Steps, but your knowledge of the subject allows you know that to be false. Thousand Steps grew quickly in size because of the ore deposits found deep within the hills. This is one of the many reasons that Thousand Steps doesn't hold Shamara in such high regards as the others. The art and decor in the castle seems to portray a rich investment in the fishing culture, but this is all a farce to hide the real wealth the castle and it's surrounding lands hold.
Duke Raemon Aoili, the current ruler after his father passed away, has welcomed all religions with open arms into Thousand Steps and has promoted it as a place free from religious persecution. That's his stance with all the refugees that come through at least. The Duke himself doesn't seem to favor one god over another but it's clear that he's not a big fan of the influence gained by followers of Shamara. He doesn't trust it.
Vallen has spent most of his time learning of Merveille. He knows that...
Shamara is one of the new gods that rose to power many many years ago and was elevated to the status of a god. Her shrines are numerous and so are her followers. Every city seems to have a large group of acolytes that share her message and good will. Vallen would know that any references to these new gods were completely absent from the shrine he served in. It was such a clear absence that the division between the old gods and the new gods was quite clear. None of the acolytes ever came near the shrine to Merveille and they'd even turn away from him at the sight of his holy symbol. It was like they were disgusted by the very notion that Merveille existed.
"Shamara trying to take over death?" Valyncia pondered out loud. "I don't pretend to understand the motivations of the gods but that seems out of character from everything I've been taught about her."
Svent continues training with the monks, settling into the rhythm of the motions and letting his mind clear of directed thought. Eventually his consciousness settles back to his time training with his tribe. Most of the warriors there fought with brute strength, rending with tooth and claw. Svent did not poses the raw strength to fight that way, but his agility made him effective with bows and thinner blades. The fluid movements he was practicing now carry power but do not require strength. "There is wisdom in these movements. I have been fighting wrong." Svent continues training for as long as the monks continue, gleaning whatever wisdom he can from the exercises.
Vallen nods, “I don’t know much at all on Shamara, outside of her acolytes would actively avoid the Merveille shrine that I was trained and taught at and would look away from me when they saw my Holy Emblem...” He pondered more and looked at books present, “Anyone know of anything on the Godsbanes? If not I may poke around the library here... could be all connected to the call for help we felt.”
Cailee smiled nervously. She felt happy that Lugh might choose her to be a Warden, but it felt strange to be given so much attention. As her peers stated that they weren't sure about trusting the elders, it solidified her opinion that it may be best to keep it to herself, at least for now. It might simply be possible to ask other monks about the Wardens without disclosing that she may be one, anyway. She had a vague understanding of the role, but she felt she couldn't fully understand it until she did it herself.
Vallen would tap his chin, still thinking on what the Godsbanes were. He would then begin to walk around the library trying to find any book that may have some sort of information regarding them, checking history and religion books.

Vallen scans the library for books regarding Lugh and Merveille. There are quite a few books and many of them seem to have been written in several volumes so that multiple monks would be able to study the works at the same time. No matter the amount of time spent in the library, he can't seem to find anything that mentions the artifacts. There really isn't much information here on the new gods either including Shamara, Talos, Aiden, and Camiela.
Vallen does find a very old leather bound book with a tree on it's cover. This symbol has matched the other books that focus on Lugh and you're able to associate that the symbol represents Lugh. The book is written in an old form of common from a time long ago but you're able to understand what it's saying. You find a long list of names all with the title of Sentinel.
The names seem to come from many different races with common names from mostly the Highlands. One name does stand out to you and that name is...
Valyncia moves closer Cailee with a look of concern, and also a bit of confusion, "I'm still not sure what all this talk about becoming warden is about? It sounds like I missed something important. Might help us both if you can try to explain it to me?"
Vallen reads the book and raises an eyebrow, “Camiela?” He looks to the others and walks over to them and presents the book, “This book has a list of previous Sentinels...” He points to the name Camiela, “Could this be the same Camiela as the New God?”
Can I roll a religion check to see what I know of Camiela?
Camiela, The Daughter is part of the family of new gods that's gained popularity among the more civilized residents of the region.
Camiela is known as the Daughter and as the Defender. Her following is the smallest among the new gods and there are no large shrines in her honor.

Her imagery always shows her wearing a large suit of armor like a noble knight would wear. She wears a giant shield and rarely has her face uncovered. All of these details make you wonder if she could have been one of Lugh's Sentinels. It seems very likely but you're unsure how she went from being a soldier to a god.
Cailee turned to Valyncia and explained, "You know that place in the woods? I think that may be a wild sanctuary of the old gods, particularly Lugh and Merveille since the runes indicated themes of both life and death.
"The Wardens were followers of the old gods who were called to protect the sanctuaries. As far as I knew, the sanctuaries were gone, or lost to time, and there were no more Wardens. Nobody really explained why to me, but recently I feel like the new gods have something to do with the disappearance of the old ones, and maybe also something to do with covering up those sanctuaries. Before, I just figured that Lugh and Merveille had just slowly fallen out of favor and people simply started to worship the new gods. I'm still not sure about so many of the details, so that's about all I know."

They spoke of the Wardens, and of artefacts like a shield and a dagger and necklace. That Talos will know soon. And of appearing on this mortal realm in a castle near the Glimmering Sea - I fear they spoke of Thousand Steps".

Those that have visited Holden Heights would know...
that the Shrine of The Mother is ran by a half orc known as Krusk. You're unsure of what the shard is.
