Oorr remains standing beside Brox, not trusting the elf who is clearly in league with a chaos-creature. He will wait to hear what he has to say, though.
Gimnir witnesses the cold encounter, he hasn't forgot how Drows had captured him and his friends and treated them like animals. "We have a tumultuous past with some of yours, so allow us to be suspicious. We lost some good friends".
Grimnir then adds: "Urmas, Keeper of the Present, told us you might know something about who created and how to close the rift that pours demons in our realm. What can you tell us?".
Vizeran takes a step back when Brox confronts him, startled at first, but then quickly regains his composure. He looks across each of your faces, an takes a moment before responding.
"While you are not wrong about the inclination of my people to follow evil ways, perhaps you should remind yourselves there are many of us who have escaped that torture. I myself have opposed the tyranny of Lolth and her priestesses for centuries," he says. "Be that as it may, it seems you are already well informed and ask about the heart of the matter. Come, let us sit." He moves to a section of nearby lounges and couches, and takes a seat. Kleve takes a position behind him, saying nothing. Regardless of whether you follow, he continues, "Your questions nearly confirm my suspicions. There is a demonic invasion of the Underdark, and I believe one archmage of Menzoberranzan is responsible. His name is Gromph Baenre. I came to Gravenhollow to make sure of it." He pauses to take a drink from a crystal flask, which was brought to him by a Galeb Duhr moments ago. "I suggest we compare notes. Have you been to the Halls of the Future yet? You already seem to know much of what has transpired before now. Perhaps you should seek out Ustova, and afterwards, we can compare notes."He finishes his drink, and looks at your expectantly.
"Oh, well you see, I have. But the visions from the keepers differ for all who seek knowledge. Perhaps what she has shown me of the future is not what she will show you. The visions that Ustova reveals are potential futures, not definite outcomes. All I'm asking is that you find out what you can, and then we shall decided where to go from here, if our paths should align,"says the archmage. He finishes his drink and then gets up. "Come, Kleve, let's let this fine people rest. We'll return to our studies in our quarters. I'm sure we'll see you again, friends. This place has a way of bringing people together... whether they like it or not."
Vizeran proceeds to leave the library hall, but just before he disappears down a corridor, he turns and says,"Oh, and do be careful what you say to the echoes. I'm pretty sure I saw the demon lord Graz'zt earlier, and nothing said to him can do any good."And with that final word, the drow vanishes into the archives.
Grimnir listens carefully and takes note of the Lord Demon presence. This though sends shivers down his spine. "Very well, if we have a bit of time, I'd say let's go talk to Ustova then..."
You leave the odd cafe and head down a new corridor, intending to find the halls of the future. Before long you pass under an archway with an inscription above it written in Giant:
The future is a song we remember, but we cannot rush to its end lest we destroy the melody.
As you pass through, you hear a soft musical sound coming from just ahead. You round a corner into a circular great hall where thousands of stone and crystal cylinders line the walls. Water pours over these cylinders creating a lyrical effect as each note of running water blends into a soothing symphony. Occasionally you hear a discordant note, and a female stone giant, who you presume to be Ustova, goes to the source of the discord, and etches something into the cylinder bringing the music back to it's harmonious origins. After making one such correction, she turns to address you.
"Aw, here at last, and right on time. You've been expected. Come, I have prepared a place for you,"says Ustova. Her voice is also musical, lilting from word to word, and at first hard to distinguish from the music around you. She shows you to a table sized for humanoids, upon which sits two stone and crystal cylinders. "These contain the information you are meant to see. Touch your stonespeaker crystal to each, and you will see the visions thy contain." She moves away, but keeps her eye on you as you gather around the table. Taking the stonespeaker crystal, you touch it to the first cylinder. Unlike before, you all share the same vision.
You find yourselves all together in a vast underground cavern. Larger than any you've seen within the Underdark, save for the Darklake. A blanket of fungus and mushrooms covers the cavern, stretching beyond your sight into the darkness. This covering seems to breathe and move with live, as if it is all one organism. A putrid and yet wondrous figure walks out of the darkness, and you know in your mind this is Zuggtmoy, demon queen of fungi. She is veiled, and a train of fungus comes down from her head, carried off the ground by a host of Myconid beings that are beholden to her. You recognize Sovereign Phylo and several other of the Myconid that were infected back in Neverlight Grove. Zuggtmoy reaches down and gathers the living blanket of fungus around her. Rapport spores fly in every direction, filling your thoughts with those of the demon lord. "Now we are wed, Araumycros, and all the Underdark is under our domain." Competing visions of Myconid throughout the underdark writhing and succumbing to Zuggtmoy enter your mind. You see Stool and Rumpadump in pain as the demon queen dominates them.
At the same time, you notice a strange occurrence in the cavern ceiling. Numerous holes and tunnels fill with a slime, and begin dripping down into the Fetid Wedding. Agents of Juiblex begin to dissolve away the fungus. Zuggtmoy screams out in defiance as a large and familiar looking ooze crashes the event. The vision fades as the demon lord of oozes materializes.
As you come to your senses, Ustova picks up the stone and crystal cylinder and returns it to a slot in the wall of the room. "The future is fickle. It changes, disrupting the song. My only choice to rewrite and change it as it happens. Only when it passes into the present does the song stop completely. This particular song has not changed for many months. But it is my hope it will change before the music ends."She sits silent, awaiting the next vision.
You place the stonespeaker crystal on the second cylinder.
A recently familiar face appears at the top of a tower. Vizeran, the drow you just met, appears to be conducting some sort of ritual. Suddenly you fly away from the tower, over great distances until you are floating over a massive underground city. It's not clear what the city is. Could it be Menzoberranzan? Gracklstugh? Blingdenstone? The vision seems to not want to tell you. But before you have time to focus, new information is presented. The city, wherever it is, is in a panic. Figures race from one end to the other, yelling for help, calling for people to run. In the distance you see a hulking figure approaching. Then from the other side of the city, another hulking figure. Then a third, and a fourth, and then more. Though you have not seen all their forms, you recognize the twin baboon heads of Demogorgon, the tusked pig face of Orcus, the gnollish bearing of Yeenoghu, and the goat like bearing of Baphomet. Others join the fight, and you watch as the demon lords clash over the city in a battle with each other. The fight is over quickly, but the destruction is vast. One demon lord stands victorious over the others, but they are wreathed in shadow, and before you can tell who had bested the others, the vision ends.
Ustova gathers the last crystal and places it in a niche on the wall, where the water runs over it again, producing musical notes. "Unlike the last, this one is harder to interpret, and your involvement is more uncertain. But it gives me hope, if nothing else, that there is a way to defeat the evil that invades us. That is all that I have to show you, though you are free to ask questions. Otherwise, I suggest you rest, meditate on what you have seen, and determine your next course of action."
"Winds do not follow always the most obvious paths. However, from what we have seen and experienced, it seems very unlikely that we are able to make them converge in one location at the same time. It does seem, though, the ideal solution: make them fight each other so we can finish the last one standing. How can we accomplish it?"

It does seem, though, the ideal solution: make them fight each other so we can finish the last one standing. How can we accomplish it?"
" The other in the vision, Vizeran, may be involved it seems. Perhaps you should inquire of him?" replies the stone giant.
"I agree, let's talk to this Drow. Playing the Demons into attacking each other seems like a good idea, although the city where this happens will probably be destroyed after such a clash." After a few minute of self-reflection, Grimnir shares his thoughts out loud "Who would have imagine years ago, that a monk novice, would stand up and fight a Lord Demon? Life is full of surprises... I wonder if the gods are smiling upon us."
Before leaving, Grimnir adds: "Ustova, as you can see the future, could you tell us of any weakness that those demon lords have ? I would like to have a fighting chance next time we encounter one"

Grimnir tries to remember if he knows what/who is Araumycros... Insight (with guidance and adv): 22 + 1
Grimnir, while witnessing the vision, that name was foreign to you, but Zuggtmoy's usage was quite plain. She was referring to the large blanket of fungus that was covering the floor of the cavern and which stretched beyond your sight in nearly all directions. Further more, she referenced being wed to it. How a demon lord and a blanket of fungus can be married is beyond your comprehension, but what was clear is that the union somehow provided her with a further reach to subdue the fungal population of the Underdark.
" My friends, leave me a bit of time. I'd like to try to meditate and see if I can feel the presence of Araumycros."
Grimnir leaves the party and isolate himself in his room, along with Rocky. Surrounded by lichens and mushroom, he activates his Symbiotic Entity, closes his eyes and starts to meditate, reaching out for the mycelium network Survival: 8 + 1 (Guidance)

As you reach out, you find it easy to do so. Easier than it should be, in fact. It's almost as if there is a force augmenting your rapport spores, making it possible for you to reach further into the Underdark than normal. You find yourself able to contact familiar Myconid, such as Sovereign Basidia. When you inquire about Araumycros, Basidia tells you that it is the largest network of fungus and mushrooms within their realm. It stretches for hundreds of miles, covering a vast area in the southern reaches of the Underdark. It is the oldest and most powerful being known to them, and they sometimes take pilgrimages to the location to commune with it. She and her followers are making a trip there now to seek guidance given Zuggtmoy's influence. She promises to reach out with what they find to inform you when they get there. She suspects the faerzress and Zuggtmoy's influence is what is allowing you to contact each other.
You reach out to try and contact Araumycros directly, but find yourself blocked by a strange force. It seems you'll have to rely on what Basidia finds when they arrive.
You leave the halls of the future, and find yourselves back at your rooms. You get a full nights rest, a breakfast that meets all your needs, and another visit from Veldyskar the Basilisk eradicates the last of the madness from Belwar. For what seems like the first time in months, you are all clear headed. Before you decide where to set out to, Kleve approaches, the slaad bodyguard of Vizeran. He speaks in a rough language, that at first seem unintelligible, but words enter your mind as you seem to comprehend it, either through the magic of the archives, or telepathy. "My Master would see you. He prepares to leave this place and desires your counsel," he says.
You follow him a short distance to another room. There you find Vizeran packing backs and boxes. "Ah, I'm glad you came. Tell me, did you discover anything else in your visions? Or perhaps you found some obscure script that can help us against these demon lords?"
"Games? Games?! These are not games. That fool Gromph brought the demon lords down upon us, with his demon queen pulling his strings all the while. He has given Lolth free reign in the Abyss. My own research leads me to believe Gromph used faerzress to achieve such a summoning, though I am sure he didn’t intend this result. Imbecile!"Vizeran seethes.
“I can save you months of research — time we clearly don’t have. The information I found here has confirmed my theories, and I know how to banish the demon lords back to the Abyss. We can do this only if we work together, if you are willing and daring enough to directly challenge the demon lords. Or perhaps foolhardy is the better word.
You may not trust me, but that's fine, you don't have to trust me. The truth is that I'm the most inconsequential of the threats you've encountered or seen evidence of, and it just so happens our goals align. If you are willing, come with me to my tower and stronghold, Araj. This library, as vast as it is, has ears everywhere, and the echoes last forever. I prefer to do my plotting in secret.
If you are ready, we can leave together, and I will show you the way. If not, I will give you directions, and you can arrive at your leisure. Time is not something we can afford to lose however, so be quick with your decision."
Grimnir tries to overcome his disgust for drows and continues the discussion with Vizeran.
“We are not friend but I do see that we might have the same goal. You do not seem to hold dear Lolth, I thought all drows revered her.”
Grimnir pauses and tries to recollect his visions. “In my vision, I saw Zuggtmoy trying to join Araumycros, this is really concerning to me. We also saw you at the top of a tower and conducting some kind of ritual. It seem we will manage to draw all lord demons in one city so they fight each others. We’re guessing the plan is to slay the last one standing…”
Grimnir is ready to go, but before he will tell his men that anyone can go home if they want, without having the need to give any reason, as he promised them during their travelling. He will also ask if there's any way to protect themselves against the faerzress.

As you gather to leave the library, your followers look about themselves, wondering if they should take up Grimnir's offer.
