Kevin moves closer o the fray and says, "If we cannot talk this over like intelligent beasts, you leave me no choice!  He then casts an Ice Dagger spell and throws it at the nearest human.

Kevin: You move closer to the fight and unleash your Ice Knife at the second human from the left with the white hair.

(OOC: You actually rolled an 11, your attack bonus for this spell is +4. Unfortunately...)

Your Ice Knife misses its target, but explodes into deadly ice shards. The white haired human and his allies on both sides try to duck out of the way of the incoming shrapnel.

Left Human Dexterity Saving Throw: 13

Right Human Dexterity Saving Throw: 14

All three of them manage to drop just in time to avoid the ice shards.

Yagra is about to take the fight to the remaining humans when she's distracted by a deep rumbling sound.

Shouts of alarm suddenly ring out as a hulking creature climbs up out of the shaft in the middle of the taproom a monster with warty green skin, a tangled nest of wiry black hair, a long, carrot-shaped nose, and blood· shot eyes. As it bares its yellow teeth and howls, you can see that a half-dozen bat-like creatures are attached to its body, with three more circling above it like flies.

Everyone in the tavern reacts in fear except for the barkeep, Durnan, who shouts, "Troll!"

As this massive creature emerges from the first level of Undermountain, the Xanathar Guild members take the opportunity to flee carrying Krentz's unconscious body.

Everyone roll a new Initiative.

Yagra draws her mace and smiles, "Now we're talking!"

Durnan yells to the party, "You attack the Stirges!" He pulls out a massive greatsword and springs over the bar. "The Troll is mine."

Kevin, you're up first.

Kevin rolls to his left and fires an Ice Dagger at a Stirges.

"Be gone, foul abomination!!"

Kevin: Your Ice Spike misses the tiny zigzagging monster, but explodes next to it.

Stirge Saving Throw: 4

The beast is too fast and darts out of the way of the explosion.

The Troll that crawled out of Undermountain looked half dead when it emerged, probably due to the half-dozen Stirges feeding upon it. But now it looks a little stonger and healthier. It charges through tables and chairs at Durnan the barkeep, hungry for man meat.

Troll Bite: Attack: 18 Damage: 8

Troll Claw 1: Attack: 23 Damage: 14

Troll Claw 2: Attack: 20 Damage: 11

The Troll bites into Durnan's shoulder and claws at his face. The monster draws blood, but Durnan only grimaces.

Now it's his turn.

Durnan yells to the party, "Trolls regenerate! Douse it with lamp oil and set it on fire when it falls!" And with that he expertly swings his greatsword at the massive Troll.

Durnan Greatsword 1: Attack: 14 Damage: 14

Durnan Greatsword 2: Attack: 27 Damage: 11

Durnan Greatsword 3: Attack: 15 Damage: 12

Durnan Greatsword 4: Attack: 22 Damage: 9

He slices and dices the Troll, moving the bulky greatsword with amazing speed. The Troll looks barely alive after that onslaught.

The six Stirges attached to the Troll's back disconnect themselves. Bloated and full of the Troll's blood, they fly back down the shaft to digest their meal.

The three remaining Stirges are still hungry and the party looks delicious. One flies at Randy, one at SolRhea, and the final one tries to feed on Yagra.

Stirge 1 vs Randy: Attack: 16 Damage: 5

Stirge 2 vs SolRhea: Attack: 22 Damage: 4

Stirge 3 vs Yagra: Attack: 15 Damage: 4

Randy is able to swat away the blood sucker, but SolRhea and Yagra are not so lucky. Their Stirges attach themselves to their necks and begin feeding.

Randy, you're up.

Randy reflexively uses his Invasive Thoughts on the Stirge that attacked him. He shrieks into the Stirge's mind "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"

Meanwhile he hits the Stirge with Poison Spray. The Stirge must make a constitution saving throw and beat 13 or take 10 damage.

Randy: The Stirge receives your mental command but all it does is confuse the dumb creature about source of the sounds it's hearing. While it's confused, you hit it with your Poison Spray.

Constitution Saving Throw: 12

Unfortunately, it shakes off the effects of your spell.

Yagra uses her action to yank the Stirge from her neck before it sucks any more blood. She then moves over to the area where Dewey,  SolRhea, and Randy are standing.

Dewey, you're up.

I rush to Sol Rhea and draw my rapier stabbing at the styrge.

Damage: 5

OOC - I just rolled another 7 with a +5 to my attack.  This is getting weird.
