Mara
Mara takes the amulet reverently and places it around her neck. “Thank you, sister.” Looking at Arnold, Mara approaches and sits on the bed, her weight causing it to creak loudly. “Hi Arnold. Sister Merovyna has told me how fast and brave you were - I can see she was not lying.” Mara touches Arnold’s arm slightly. “Arnold I am a paladin, which for me means I find bad guys and make them pay. I will make those who hurt your family pay. To do this I need to ask you a couple of questions and do some magic, good magic. Are you ready? It won’t hurt I promise.” Mara will use Divine Sense on the child, mostly to make sure they aren’t undead or anything. “Did anyone visit your house before the bad things happened? Adventurers or weird people? Try to remember.”
persuasion: 10
At the end of it all, Mara will intone a prayer and use Lay on Hands on Arnold, just to make him feel more comfortable.
Mara nods at Merovyna and looks at Arnold. He’s a bit younger than they were, she thinks to herself. “Good night Arnold. Sister.” Mara will head outside and unless Merovyna has more to say, she will go to her room. She will wake up just before sunrise to offer morning devotions for the sunrise.
Having headed up to her room early, long before the tavern became busy, Ellara locks her door and unpacks her pack, laying every item out and checking it over. As she repacks it all, she notes that she will need to buy more rations in the morning. Once everything is repacked, she practices some forms with her sword in the small space, quickly realising that there isn’t the room for it. She double-checks that her door is locked, then lies on the bed and eventually falls asleep.
She wakes early and stays in her room for a while, until she thinks that someone may be down in the bar, then goes down for breakfast, purchasing an extra 4 days worth of rations while she is there.

At Mara's request for information and offer of good magic Arnold timidly answers "o-ok"
No undead or negative energy emanates from him: to Mara, her feels like a regular, troubled child.
"N-no,, nobody strange came by hour house that day, or recently. O-o-only our friends from Potter, the Fredericks. But they are friends of mum and dad. They v-visit often. Are they allright? Did something bad happen to them?"
At the end, Merovyna will not have any objection to Mara retiring to her room.
After a surprisingly restful night's sleep, Dahvik bounces down the steps for breakfast. Last night's fiasco is already forgotten; it wasn't is first bad show, and he learned long ago to let them go. Seeing two of the previous night's group, he wends his way toward them. "May I join you?"
Having had a lot of free time after waking from his trance, Lorian studied his spells and read a few books to kill time until sunrise. Due to the length of his robe, it looks almost like he is gliding down the stairs. He scans the room for an empty table until his raven appears out of his sleeve and flies to the table with Mara, Ellara and Dahvik. “I don’t think he’s ever taken such a quick liking to someone, flying straight to them.” He mumbles to himself, “Strange.”
AS morning rises, Father Cadfrey wakes, yawning, then stretching out his limbs from their nights lack of activity. He kneels and prays his thanks and desires for the day.
Father Cadfrey will spend an hour in study before coming down from his room. Gathering his things he heads out.
As he comes down, upon seeing the group he will call out:
"Good Morning to you all. I hope all of you had rest for today we start our investigation." he says with a broad smile.
Father Cadfrey will sit down and wait, exchanging pleasantries with the group for a few moments then he will abruptly stand and say:
"Well, let us be off. We can take and eat along the way of you wish but I intend to speak with the Captain of the Guard before they are off about their duties." saying all this as he heads for the door.
On her walk to the Lady Luck, Mara noticed various local Town Guards in the Market Square, buying food and other equipment in big quantity. More are walking on the streets with clear purpose: some are pushing cart full of weapons, other have horses with them. They mostly seem to be moving from and to eastern part of town, where you know the Town Guard barracks are located. Moving across the Market Square Mara overhears an officer ordering a subordinate to "Take one of the carts from the Commons and load it with the water barrel from the watermen's guild. Then report to the Captain in the drill field".
From inside the tavern, noises from the Market Square suggest that the working day started early today. From the window it is possible to see that most of the people busy in the Market Square wear the Town Guard uniform.
As you walk downstairs from your bedrooms you seem to be the only customers of the Tavern this morning. Breakfast is quickly served and consists mainly of fresh bread, jam, eggs, bacon and fresh fruit.
Dahvik is taken off guard by the sudden hurry. He's hardly out of his seat by the time Cadfrey is already out the door. He decides to stop at the bar and request a few morsels "to go" - all on the cleric's tab, of course - before heading out the door to follow the cleric.
As Cadfrey gets up to leave, Ellara rips open a piece of bread, filling it with a much bacon as she can physically fit into it, then gets up and follows, taking the last piece of her breakfast with her.
Once Dahvik is sufficiently provisioned for the morning, he follows the cleric out the door. He moves with an unhurried gait, munching on a carrot as he keeps Cadfrey in sight. Aloro has opted simply to keep up rather than to catch up, confident he'll make up the distance in time to miss the pleasantries but catch the meaningful interaction.
Dropping back a pace to engage with Ellara and Dahvik, Mara says “So, anything interesting happen last night - that you can remember, that is?” She grins at the last part, fondly remembering nights of raucous revelry with her husband. The thought makes her sad and her jaw tightens, still unable to suitably deal with recent memories. Remembering the task at hand, she relates her encounter with Arnold at the temple last evening. “What do you make of him?” She motions towards the priest, who is trailblazing ahead, unaware she has dropped back a step.
Ellara shrugs in response to Mara’s question, “He’s certainly... enthusiastic?” She takes a final bite of her breakfast, chews and swallows before continuing, “If naïve.” She keeps walking for a moment, then quirks an eyebrow, “Where did you disappear off to?”

Mara
”I went to my temple. I spoke with Arnold,” Mara says glancing at her companions. “Nothing new to be had. He’s scared.” Looking around at the bustling soldiers, Mara says, “Looks like they're mobilizing for something. On my way over they were taking everything over to the eastern side of town.”
"I'm not surprised," the half-elf says. "That he's scared, I mean. I can't imagine." He pauses, watching the activity in the square. "I wonder if it has to do with the lizardfolk. Or maybe they've found some answers. We'd better catch up." With that, he quickens his pace.
Our heroes make their way to the Town Guard Barracks and to the drill field in front of it. Normally filled with recruits learning how to properly stab a nefarious scarecrow or how to properly shoot at a dubious barrel, this large square is today bristling with preparation: soldiers are hurrying from and to this place, carrying provisions, equipment and horses. Wooden carts are being loaded and tents are being folded.
Amidst all this commotion, high ranking officiers are easily recognizable as the ones yelling orders, not always in the most patient of ways. You can hear things like:
"When are you done dilly-dallying, would you be so gracious as to load this cart with straw for the horses? GET A MOVE ON, YOU POOR EXCUSE OF A SOLDIER!!"
and
"Hey. Hey! HEY!! YOU! Yes, I am talking to you! Those are spears, you idiot! Not farming equipment! The pointy end goes to the front of the cart, not to the back! For the love of Tyr, get the hell out of my way!"
In front of the barracks, reading different pieces of parchment and talking to other officers, stands captain Spearslayer. A tall middle-aged woman with the looks of someone how has seen more than a fight or two in her days.

[ At the time of Mara's scene, it was still evening. She just went to the temple, basically across the Market Square so it didn't take long.
