Seeing that everyone else is busy with investigation, which is what they're good at, Gregor sets himself to looking around to see if there's anyone sneaking up on them or spying, or to see if there are any traps. He doesn't draw any weapons or a shield, but does keep one hand ready near the shortsword on his waist, just in case he needs to draw it. He's the security and muscle, despite his usual appearance and demeanor, so he concentrates on what he was brought on board for.
Aurora turns towards Thogran and offers her hand with a big smile. "Nice to meet you, master Thogran. Kronrum said you were, like, investigating, yes?" She cocks her head to the side. "Have you found out anything, yet?"
"Master Thogran, pardon my incompetence and not knowing the proper procedures. What would the appropriate way to gain access to this particular crime scene?"
Do I know that there's a thing about dwarven crime scenes and access to outsiders? Regardless if there is a thing or not, I'm growing suspicious of this whole setup and would like to see/understand if anything in particular is standing out about it (I mean Insight type stuff).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thogran sighs and says, gruffly, "if you somehow talked the Council of Elders into letting you help investigate, I'd be forced to cooperate. Other than that, no."
There isn't a thing about dwarven crime scenes and access to outsiders; it's just Thogran.

You hear a series of nasty, fleshy sounds and grunts of pain, followed by Kronrum's mutilated corpse tumbling out of a corner, spilling gore in a 15-foot line 5 feet wide and making that area count as difficult terrain.
Zane raises an eyebrow, "I believe the crime scene decided to come to us instead. Lets see who's there."
He then pulls the lute-like instrument into his hands and blows some dust from it towards the area where the sounds happened and the corpse came from, casting Faerie Fire (DC 17) from the Fochlucan bandore.
"Oh dear..." Gregor mumbles to himself, taking a moment to draw a shield and shortsword, and carefully approaching Kromrum's location, looking out for any dangers and making sure to accompany Ketrey as best as he can.

Seeing as there's nothing to be done for poor Kronrum, Aurora begins to inspect the corpse and its surroundings. Looking for any hints of what kind of creature could have done this or what method was used to kill him.

"Poor Kromrum. He only wanted to help his people, and now whatever killed his brethren may have killed him." Gregor says mournfully, kneeling down to take a look at the fallen Dwarf. He scours the scene with his senses, wracking his brain to see if he can get some hint as to what has just happened.
Investigation and Arcana Checks: Investigation 12 Arcana 18, History check: 11
Thogran is too busy jumping at shadows to object. There are no unlit light sources. You find no traces of the attacker.
Kronrum was hit by three claws and a bite. The bite did more damage than any one claw. The attacker was probably Medium.
Gregor:
You suspect that the culprit is able to move through solid rock without disturbing it, and the only creatures you can think of that can do that are earth elementals.

Raising an eyebrow, Gregor rises to his feet and motions for everyone else to come closer. "My friends, I think it may be likely that our good master Kromrum may have been done in by an Earth Elemental. The nature and direction of the attacks, the fact that we didn't see the perpetrator come and go... it all suggests that it may in fact be an Elemental that can move through stone as easily as we can move through air. Perhaps we should question Thogran a bit more about how 'harmoniously' the Dwarves of this place are living with the local elementals?"
EDIT: Gregor pauses and adds, "Weren't there Xorn in this area? I could have sworn that Trovoyorn, or someone else from back at headquarters mentioned them."
The dwarves of Mern Lodir did, in fact, negotiate with the local elementals; the xorn agreed to find gems for the dwarves and the dwarves agreed to feed the xorn enough gems to keep them healthy. Similar agreements were reached with the other elementals and the korreds. All parties also agreed to not attack each other.
Anyone who cares about elemental ghosts, give me an Arcana check.

"Hey! Stop that! You're not allowed here!" Thogran lunges forward to intercept anyone who tries to approach the crime scene.
Kronrum just sighs.

"We are not? I misunderstood the situation, my apologies. Why are not allowed here exactly?"
"Because it's a dwarven crime scene," he sighs.
Kronrum seems to have given up. He's sitting quietly in a corner. Anyone with passive Perception below 18 can't see him anymore.

"Did anyone see what it was?" Aurora asks, looking at her companions. She casts Mage Armor on herself and remains close to Thogran.
Faerie fire finds no target, he's too far gone for spare the dying, and no one sees anything.

"Thogran, do you mind if we check out the rest of the crime scene? You may want to stay close to us."
If there's any candles/torches/bonfire stuff, I'll light some with Prestidigitation.
