Elementals are not alive in the conventional sense, in that they have no spirit, no soul, to become undead, go on to the afterlife, or allow them to be resurrected. Once they die, they're gone for good.
"I've never heard of an elemental ghost. In all my studies at my temple of Kelemvor, there was no mention of elementals passing into the realms beyond, only beings with souls or spirits can travel beyond through natural means. I suppose that means that they simply are...until they are not."
A chill crawls up her spine, and Ketrey shudders as she imagines the absolute finality of a creature's existence. She says a short Prayer to Kelemvor beneath her breath.
"I will attempt to draw whatever it is out of hiding, keep your wits about you." Ketrey casts Sanctuary on herself and moves toward the area of the cave from where the body was thrown. "What are you?!"
"When we first met Kromrum he told us that the Earth Elementals have left this place. Obviously there is something else that is going on here. Thogran, look at me. When was the last time the Earth Elementals were seen? Where would we find them?"
Ketrey Points to the mutilated corpse of Kromrum. "More will end up like this if you do nothing. YOU will end up like this if you do nothing. Tell us what you know before it comes back!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gregor takes a few moments to think to himself, likely about Ghosts and Elementals and such, then puts away his shortsword and draws his mace instead. He steadies the shield on his right arm, and takes a few practice swings with the mace in his left (Gregor is left handed) and then turns to walk over to Thogran as well.
"Well Mr. Thogran, it seems that we're in a bit of a predicament. Another fine Dwarf has met an untimely end, and we have very little idea as to why he might have been attacked by something, possibly even the very same Earth Elementals that the Dwarves of this region are known to have made agreements with regarding the discovery and sharing of wealth." Gregor states, mattery of factly.
"While it would be quite helpful if you would be more forthcoming with information, or perhaps could lead us to some other people who would know more, I suppose if you don't want to share any information or help us, we could all just take our things and leave back the way we came... this is after all, not necessarily our business, and it does look like it's getting fairly dangerous. I could just go home and sip some nice wine and polish my parade armor, rather thank skulk around in dark caves wearing these drab rags. Of course, THEN the same things that killed Kromrum and all those other poor Dwarves might just come for you... and we certainly wouldn't be here to stop them." Gregor continues, trying his best to seem very disinterested, and about to go home at any moment in an attempt to try and convince Thogran to open up.
Persuasion roll: 16
Edit: Scratch that, unless you want to consider it happening before Thogran starts talking.
Ketrey attempts to comfort Thogran "Now I know this is a shock to you and you are only doing what is expected of you, but I must implore you to let us help you. You must consider yourself lucky to have survived this long with so many dangers around! If the council of elders can truly help, I will follow"
(OOC: Ah you're right, it's a mix of both, I'll just try to roll something like that as Intimidation next time then)
Gregor waits for the rest of his team to try to comfort Thogran and see if he says anything else helpful. At least everyone knows now that he's willing to take them to the Council of Elders. In the meantime he keeps a close eye on the shadows and even the walls around them, having some idea now, of what may be attacking.
"I--they--when I woke up this morning," he stutters, "they were gone--and--and Muirrum and his squad were--were dead!" He seems quite distressed.
To comfort him (and make him more useful) make a Charisma (Insight) or Wisdom (Persuasion) check.
"Calm down, man, we are here to help. Things seems to be speeding up and we don't have a lot of time to run around and interview a bunch of people. I understand that you are very upset with this whole thing. It's OK to be upset, it's completely normal." Persuasion: 17
"Now, try your best to remember the order in which things happened in the morning. By your recollection, what was the very first event that happened or that you learned about?"
He shivers, smiles wanly at Zane, and leads you out of the mine. Creating difficult terrain in front of the entrance is Dalram's mutilated corpse. Thogran gasps and faints.
Ketrey slaps Thogran a few times to wake him up, and casts unseen servant to walk about 10 feet ahead of the party, within eyeshot, and instructs it to make as much raucous as possible by kicking up loose rocks and rubble. "Keep your eyes and ears open, I've set the bait about 10 feet ahead."
"Throgan" I say with bitter frustration "Get us to the Council"
Gregor simply shrugs at this development and keeps his weapon and shield at the ready. "Perhaps this is a good time to mention that if we -are- facing a Xorn, that they're quite resistant to anything besides smashing blows. That is to say, cutting and piercing attacks. Hence the mace." he explains, making a gesture with the (somewhat small for his size) mace in his left hand.
"That wasn't me... let's get out of here. Whatever it is, it's not in a welcoming mood." Ketrey states, furiously. "We'll have someone else take us to the council of elders once we reach the surface, Thogran is obviously no longer willing to help us, or himself." She rolls her eyes at the unconscious dwarf.

ghosts? interesting...
Arcana 12+:

Arcana 22+:
Revivify still works on them, for some reason.
Arcana 24+:
It has to be cast at 5th level or higher, though.

You see nothing.
Something tells me I'm going to be saying that a lot. . .

I would've called that approach Intimidation or possibly Deception, but okay.

The unseen servant is reduced to 0 HP, ending the spell.
