Auric stands up abruptly and heads that way too, thinking maybe he can defuse the tensions--or at least knock some heads.

Rayner to the troublemakers:

"Ok, you bloody lot, I got 2 requests: get the fight out of the bar, and where's my ale, boys?"

Rather: there is a large crowd of people in between you and the fight, no way they heard that. It'll take an action to push through.

Same for everyone else, to get to the fight you'll have to push through the crowd.

OOC: at my turn I want to shout at the crowd:

Rayner:"Get out of my way or I'll break your bones too!"

Auric roars, "MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!!!" as he wades through the crowd to the confrontation.

Intimidation: 18

Urukar growls at the disturbance.  “Like I said, weak people with petty grievances.”  He remains seated, watching his new acquaintances try to get into the midst of the throng.

"What does it matter?"  Valen asks with a grunt of annoyance.  he stands up and grabs his glaive from the wall.  Moving around he stands with the table to his back, but does not move to aid his companions.  He figures a couple brawlers should be easy for the others to handle, and if it is not, then he has gauged them incorrectly anyway.

Valen will be watching to make sure the fight doesn't go badly for his companions.

As Rayner moves towards the fight, his voice is lost in the shouts and he pushes his way through the throng of people.

At Auric's roar, the people in front of him jump and separate, and he's able to get to the fight easily. Auric, you still have an action. You see the half-orc on top of the human, who looks bloodied and is desperately trying to get out from under her. The other humans are still watching, but are poised to intervene.

Mal'thrae is up next.

Mal'thrae weaves through the gap in the crowd, positioning himself behind the orc. "Pull 'em off!"

He will use his help action for whoever does an athletics check to pull, giving them advantage by pulling with them.

Auric:

Reaching the muscular half-orc, Auric works with Mal'thrae (thanks for the assist!) to pull her off the man on the ground. "I don't care if ye' scrum, just do it outside!" he growls at them.

Auric and Mal'thrae grab the half-orc, but she gets one last swing off and knocks the man out cold. The other men rush forward, eyeing the newcomers warily before grabbing the unconscious man and dragging him out.

You now see the half-orc is a regular, Yagra Strongfist. "Thanks" she says grumpily. "I had those bootlickers, though. Sorry, Durnan" she adds, waving at him. Durnan waves her off.

Valen gives a shrug, and moves back to his seat again, his eyes turning towards the door again, and staying there a long moment, prior to leaning his glaive against the wall and retaking his seat.

Auric:

Getting a good look at the burly half-orc, Auric gauges her reaction, saying, "It seems the problem has taken care of itself.  The name's Auric, if ye are here looking for a chance to brave the pit with a strong ally at yer back."

Yagra begins to answer, but is interrupted by snarling and growling from the pit behind you. Shouts of alarm suddenly ring out as a hulking creature climbs up out of the shaft in the middle of the taproom — a monster with warty green skin, a tangled nest of wiry black hair, a long, carrot-shaped nose, and bloodshot eyes. As it bares its yellow teeth and howls, you can see that a half-dozen bat-like creatures are attached to its body, with three more circling above it like flies. Everyone in the tavern reacts in fear except for the barkeep, Durnan, who shouts, “Troll!”

Anyone who hasn't, roll initiative.

Durnan hops over the bar, pulling a greatsword out from underneath it as he does. He looks at Rayner and points towards the bat creatures. "Focus on them. When the troll drops, douse it with a lamp and light it."

Rayner, then Auric's turn.

Rayner does a nod to Durnan, as he runs to the closest bat.

He pulls out he’s glaive, and when he’s 5 ft from it he attacks it.

Auric:

Reacting quickly time this new threat, Auric moves over to the next bat creature as he draws his battle axe, taking a powerful diagonal slash at its center of mass as soon as he is close enough to it.  

Slash at bat, 2-Handed Batttle Axe: Attack: 16 Damage: 8

Rayner steps forward and his first swipe strikes true, cleaving one of the creatures in half. Black blood splatters everywhere as he pivots and slams the blunt end of the glaive directly into the next creature's head, reducing it to a glob on the floor. Auric steps forward and swings, but the third creature jinks away at the very last second.

It then turns around and tries to jab its long beak into Auric: Attack: 18 Damage: 6

Two other creatures detach from the troll and fly toward Rayner: 

Attack: 6 Damage: 7

Attack: 7 Damage: 7

The first creature plunges its beak deep into Auric's side, drinking deeply of his blood.

One of the creatures attacking Rayner manages to get through his armor for its own taste of delicious blood, but he manages to deflect the next one.
