The wood elf cocks his head and frowns thoughtfully. "That's still north a ways, isn't it?" Perplexed, he gives a shrug, then seems a bit distracted. He shifts his seat uncomfortably then stands and walks a little ways into the darkness, drinking his stew. He leaves behind a silent stench that disappears quickly into the breeze.
Iz watches the wood elf leave, confused that he didn't bother to answer her question. Maybe he didn't want to talk about it. She shrugs and goes back to her pacing and grumbling to herself.
„I have to say, i prefer a house over this any time, but its not this that worries me.“ says aster to the dwarf. „You look like you get on well with the wilderness. What leads you to phandalin?“
“Helpin’ the Rockseekers out, mostly, then goin from there.” Dalnir replies, “I love me homeland, but I can’t stay underground for the rest of me life. Need to get out and see the world, and the wilderness is part o’ that. Can’t go on resentin’ it like some o’ me kin,” he says, looking out at the landscape. “And how ‘bout yourself, what brings you here?”
"Home" replies aster. "my demons keep me up at night, and where do you sleep better than at home."
Later in the night Aster takes a bandage and rips it into thin rags and uses them to make a simple cord, about 1.5ft long. He then cuts the tip his left index finger and uses the cord to soak up the blood, as evenly as possible to stain the entire cord. He then takes this red cord and wraps it around his spear, just below the forged point and fixes it with thread from his spool of black thread used to sew wounds.
Once his embarassment subsides, the elf makes his way back to the fire. Having politely finished his stew, he declines a second helping and cleans his mug. "Did any of you know Gundren before this?" he asks.
Arto - Me and egg head here *he nodes at Jon* have been on Master's Grunden service as guards for almost two years now. He has always been fair to us, and looks like this time the gods smiled upon him, if he really has found something big...
The night passes quiet as you sleep, in the following morning you are back on the trail. You've been on it for about half a day. As you come around a bend, you spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. Each has several black-feathered arrows sticking out of it. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embankment and dense thickets on either side.

All of a sudden arrows fly from the sides of the path, one finds the neck of Arto making him fall dead on the spot, Jon looks in shock for about two seconds before a second projectile hits one of the oxen in the eye. The animal trashses about in agony and knocks Jon to the ground. Out of hiding two goblins rush towards Isabella and Xianon, blades held high!
attacks: Isabella 16, Xianon 7
Damage (only count this if the attack hits): Isabella 8, XIanon 7
You manage to defend their initial assault, the goblins might have bitten more than they can chew
Aster is in shock for a moment, he has never been attacked in this way. The only combat he has seen was whan he was attacked by a drunkard in a tavern in phandalin.
As he gets back to himself, he grabs his spear by the now blood-corded part and mumbles what could both be interpreted as arcane incantation as well as a prayer, casting Mage Armor on himself. he also moves behind the cart, opposite to the direction the goblins came from.
Isabella fumbles with her shortsword, trying to draw it from her sheath, she lashes out at the goblin with a sharp "Rah!" but her layers of clothing make her attack stiff, in a fashion that would be comical in lighter circumstances. Her blade cuts through the air, finding no purchase in her opponent's flesh.
ooc : [As Isabella was not prepared for combat I'll say she did not have her shield ready in which case a 16 hits.] attack :8damage : Unable to parse dice roll.
Xianon, too, is taken off guard. He hasn't encountered anything worse than dirty looks since leaving the monastery. Years of intense training kick in before he realizes what he's doing, and he dodges the attacking goblin's blade and lets his fists fly.

Seeing Arto fall to the ground, Dalnir yells out in rage (Raging). He grabs his greataxe and charges at the creature that struck Isabella. "Ye shan't take any more lives today, foul dogs!"

Xianon carves his hand axe on the goblins skull and kicks him on the chest to free the blade, a few meters away Dalnir screans in fury and beheads the goblin attacking Isabella just an instant before he can cut the halfling. Seing their companions fall the other two goblins drop their smiles and bows and rush screaming towards Xianon and Dalnir!
Attacks: Dalnir 16 Xianon 24
Damage: Dalnir 8 Xianon 8
The dwarf and elf don't sell any openings and now have two more targets just in range!
Aster will move over to Arto and try to drag him to cover, if he is not already. (if draging requires an action, he will leave him where he is) Aster prepares a bandage, breaks off the arrowhead and pulls the rest out of arto's neck and finishes the process with quickly applying a bandage. (he will try to stabilize with his healers kit) Aster will do so regardless if Arto has already died or not, cause if he was, aster could not be absolutly sure and would try to save him.

Xianon Athelas
The wood elf's eyes glint as he turns to the attacking goblin. The monk sidesteps the goblin's clumsy attack easily, and as the creature overbalances Xianon drives his right knee into its midsection (Bonus Action: Unarmed Strike, Attack: 9 Damage: 6). As he brings his knee back down, he uses the pivot to bring down a backhand blow to the back of the goblin's neck (Attack Action, Attack: 14 Damage: 6).

Laughing at the goblin’s pitiful attack, Dalnir uses his great axe to bat aside its weapon, then reverses momentum in an attempt to cleave right through this goblin as well
Dalnir and Xianon put down the remaining enemies, their bodies now lying on the floor. You can identify the horses as belonging to Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter. They've been dead about a day, and it's clear that arrows killed the horses. The saddlebags have been looted. Nearby lies an empty leather map case. On the other side one of the oxen is dead, and the other one visibly stressed. Jon wakes up and grabs his spear, only to realize the fight has already ended, he calls for Arto and sees him being patched up by Aster. Jon helps putting him in the wagon.
Jon - Damm this beasts! -he says releasing the dead ox and proceeding to calm the other- I will go to Phandalin, don't think there will be a second ambush. Master Grunden and Sildar must be in dire trouble but me and Arto are in no shape to help. You lot put down these monsters and saved his life, if you can find any clue of the master whereabouts i would be most thankfull. And if you find the rest of the goblins - he pauses for a second- do me a favor and kill every last one of the wankers, as painfully as possible.
(loot: 4 short swords, 2 short bows, 2 quivers, 10 arrows, 4 leather armors, Jon will take weapons you dont pick up, but not the armors)
