"Given our cover story, we would be wise to head right to the castle, as Fletch points out, asking the wrong questions may blow our cover before we can even get inside. We should be able to find a place out of the way in the castle to start getting a sense of the layout. I recommend we go straight to the gate."
“What if we do both? I can easily disguise myself and go down with another person capable of disguising the set and ask around the tavern, and the rest of you can head up to the castle. We should split up out of view however.” Shei shifts their appearance to look similar to Alhorn’s, as if he were a brother or cousin of the half-elf. “Alhorn and I can pose as a pair of traveling brothers off to seek their fortune. If that guise isn’t preferable, I don’t have many limits on what I can change about my appearance.” As they speak that past sentence, they shift their appearance to match each of the other group members besides Fletch’s. “Unfortunately I cannot grow a beak or feathers, so I cannot pose as a blood relative of Fletch.” After saying this, they shift back to the appearance she was wearing the majority of the time she was traveling with the group.
Germain frowns as he listens to the competing suggestions, "If we split, what happens if the castle leaves after that group arrives? Where ever we go, probably best to stick together. As for a cover story, do we need that much of one? Go to the tavern, tell them we're on our way to the castle, see how they react. But don't explain why we're going, just that we're headed there, let them draw their own conclusions. Or just head straight to the castle, do we really need anything in town?"
Naroth faces the group, "OK we have two options, Shei and Alhorn can enter the tavern and see what they can find out, with a pretty decent disguise, better than most anything the rest of us can do. So why don't they do that, while the rest of us can wait nearby in case things go sideways. I woudl imagine most of the townsfolk avoid the cultist, at least we can hope they do anyway.,"
You two walk into the village, with your disguise up.. You move on towards the tavern... A yellow tankard hangs over the door of this rustic tavern. Inside, though, the place is short on cheer. All conversation stops and all eyes turn in your direction. A tall, heavyset man with enormous muttonchop sideburns steps forward and asks, “What can I get you travelers?”
Others
Everyone else finds a nice place to wait in the forest closer to the ravine where the flying castle is docked. Let me know if any of you wish to do anything while you wait.
"I hope you don't mind my brother's forwardness, he's always loved architecture, and castles in particular." Shei moves to sit down at the bar. Currently he is using a masculine appearance, and one that looks similar to Alhorn's disguise, but a a few years younger. "Got any drink recommendations?"
Germain starts to carefully examine the toxic mushrooms he'd acquired and stored back at the dragon cults original hideout, trying to work out the best way to make use of them.
The Barkeep's mind is filled with alarm and worry. His thoughts seem focused on a spciefic one of his employees for some reason.
Shei
"No matter." The bartender says with a shrug. He nods to Shei when asked about a drink. “I will send the pot boy out to you in a moment with the finest available in my humble tavern.” He goes toward the kitchen, bellowing for a cask.
Germain
You can definitely figure out someway to use the mushrooms. What do you have for ideas?
Naroth
You watch the castle, but keep getting distracted by movements in the trees nearby, as a group of song birds keep distracting you, making it hard to concentrate on keeping an eye on the castle properly.
Germain is mostly trying to work out it's properties, specifically if it would work best coated on a blade, in a powder thrown at an enemy or group of enemies, or if it was in any way possible to add it to his gauntlets somehow to project along with his lightning. He would know the last one is a long shot at best.
The heavyset bartender's mind flashes to the castle and back to the employee, but then it closes tight. His eyes are on you, narrowed in anger. "Keep out of my mind if ye know what be good for you." He growls, having stopped on his way back to get one of his staff to bring Shei out that drink. His glare moves to Shei, but he gives a grunt and steps back through a door into the kitchen area. You can hear him calling for someone to fetch a keg of his finest for the travelers.
Alhorn nods at the suggestions and heads for the tavern, open and bold.

Ulric musses on the discussion.

"Works for me, shall we continue." Naroth asks.

Alhorn looks at Shei. "I was thinking something more exotic. Potential allies of the cult. Monster traders. Bringing terrible beasties to the cause."

Still need to know what you are doing... lol...

Germain nods, "Makes sense, let them go in, but don't approach the castle yet."
Is there a forested area or something near the town where they could watch the gap between the castle and town?

Alhorn brings up detect thoughts just prior to entering the tavern.
"We are looking to meet representatives from the castle. It's quite amazing."

Naroth will just be keeping an eye as best he can on the castle and the town, hoping he nears no alarms being sounded.

Alhorn would like to press deeper into the bartender's thoughts regarding the employee, and the castle.
