Germain will shrug, allowing Toc to examine the glove, "I have a little power, and I've learned a few ways to channel it. Mostly through a few things I've built. But my power is very limited and I am by no means an accomplished mage." As he continues walking along to the village, "If we're going to be spending much time traveling together, we should invest in a few more horses, or maybe a wagon."
Naroth slows his pace as everyone take the moment to prepare and once they are all done looks around the group, "Ready to continue?" Once on the way Naroth continues an earlier conversation, "Toc no worry, battle in my blood and I know it well." As the group gets farther from civilization and are alone he continues to speak his eyes start to sparkle as he continues to talk about fighting, "You do not need to worry about my actions in combat, I always prefer to strategize before beginning to initiate combat and I always use my companions abilities as best as I can before entering combat. Sneaking up on a foe and attacking from surprise is the quickest way to their utter defeat and that will be my goal always. I truly know the value of stealth, subterfuge and stacking the deck in combat so my foes fall before me and my friends/companions come out alive in the end."
At the end of his speech he glances at Toc and then the rest of the group, with a wicked grin on his face and then once more assumes a blank and hardened expression on his face and continues to move forward. Eyes darting back and forth searching for anything amiss that might want to try and sneak up on the group.
"Much appreciated." valen says as he accepts his weapon back. He makes a few swings with it, giving a grin of delight as it arks through the air. As they mvoe out though he is back to using it as a walking staff.
Toc nods gravely to Naroth, "Praise be to Corellon Larethian that you are on our side then." He smiles in reply to Naroth's grin. "You all lift my confidence that we will be able to deal with what comes. I feel bad for any foes that get in our way. But not really that bad." He smiles again and continues pushing the pace to Greenest.
You travel across the fields and hills of these lands, coming across nothing of real interest. The few houses you see are abandoned, the people clearly having fled with the news of Greenest.
The smoke is clear to you from a distance as you near midday. as you top yet another of the hills you see Greenest only a half-hour's travel ahead. Smoke drifts up in lazy spirals from many sections of the town, but much of it seems unharmed. A few people can be seen walking through the streets, but they appear to be normal townsfolk. There is no sign of the invaders, and it appears the townsfolk are already starting the rebuilding process.
Word has proceeded you into town by the time you reach the town. Several people stand there to meet you, foremost among them a man who can only be the town's leader.
"You look like adventurers." The man says as he eyes the group of you. "Would that you had been here yesterday eve, mayhaps you could have aided us against those raiders." He sighs though. "What would you have of Greenest?"
Germain will speak up, “We heard about the attack and thought to come and investigate. Were any of the invaders slain, if so, may I examine the bodies?”
Naroth eyes the group in front of him and the rest of the town. Tapping Germain on the shoulder he speaks, "Ask your questions, I go help search." And then will start to move from building to building helping where he can, making sure to keep the group within eye sight at all times. Also keeping a look out for any hostile foe that still might be lurking around or any enemy bodies.
Who invaders were and what they were carrying was certainly interesting, but Germain was already on it. Taviel wanted to know more about attack itself. "If this is true that attackers brought the dragon with them, I am not sure we would be able to help. Was there really a dragon? Did you happen to notice what kind? Some say blue, that would mean shooting lightnings."
"How did it all begun? Did they just came as an army out of nowhere? Did anyone noticed direction where they came from and where did they leave?"
Toc sits upon his horse, surveying the damage, staying silent while the group splits up to help townsfolk and ask their questions. After the leader answers the question about the direction they fled, Toc looks for Naroth and whispers upon the wind, letting magic take his words to Naroths mind, "The enemy fled in this direction. Would you be ok heading to that side of town, and seeing if you can pick up the tracks, and determine their rough numbers? Valen should be able to help you look for tracks."
Toc speaks, up, "Governor Nighthill I presume? It is good to see that your town has survived the raid. Several of your people from the outskirts fled to Silverspan, and likely other nearby towns. We are here to look into these raids. If I may, how long ago did they leave? Do you have a rough idea of the make up and numbers of the enemy force? And, do you have an idea of what they were after?"

"Yes, I am Nighthill." The leader says. he answers the questions to the best of his ability. From him you learn.
The group that attacked the city had Dragon Cultists in it, and were accompanied by both Kobolds and Drakes. he does not know their numbers, but estimates at over a hundred. There was indeed a blue dragon that accompanied the invaders. It did not really bother the city though, just flying overhead and sending lightning down a couple of times. The raiders seemed to just come out of the hills around dusk and attacked without warning. Due to rumors in the area, a watch had been set, so the town had not been taken totally by surprise. The invaders left to the Southeast. The invaders left just before dawn. He does not know what they were after, but notes that many valuables were taken from the town.
The raiders retreated toward the southeast, and their trail is easy to spot. (No survival check needed.)
Governor Nighthill has a proposal: "If you locate the raiders’ camp and find out certain information for me, I will pay you 250 gold apiece." He offers. "I want to know where the camp is sited, how many raiders are there, who their leaders are, what’s motivating these attacks, and where they plan to strike next." He looks around at his town. "If you find valuables taken from our town, I would like to have those returned, but will try to pay for them out of our treasury. This is not nearly as important as the other items, but it would help in making the townsfolk feel better."
Toc nods to Governor Nighthill, considering his words carefully, "Indeed, those are certainly the right questions to be asking. Your offer of payment for such a task is truly honorable, even as your town is still reeling from such a vicious attack. We will do what we can good sir. Now, we must make haste."
Toc turns his horse to the southeast and walks his horse slowly through the town, scanning the situation. He gives time for the rest of the group to offer assistance, and if he sees any of his group could use a hand, he'll dismount and assist. After no more than an hour, he begins to gently nudge them to depart, "We have orders. We've done what we can for now here. If we truly want to help people, more than just this town, we should be moving on. We have a chance to ascertain a threat that could be threatening yet still more towns just like this, and could prevent those attacks before they happen."
As the group walks southeast along the trail of the raiders, Toc says, "Now is the time for stealth. Wherever they've camped, they'll have lookouts. Keep your familiars in the sky if possible to scout for any potential ambushes, and to give us advance warning of their location." Toc will dismount and lead his horse and attempt to stealthily follow the trail. They proceed slowly, with stealth, along the obvious path.

There is nothing to really identify where the cultists came from, they wear clothes and jewelry with dragon designs, so this validates the dragon-cult idea. The jewelry is easy to see as just glass beads and such, no real value to any of it.
The kobold and drakes have scales and claws if you wish to take time to remove any such items.
For once Taviel did not argue. "Very generous of you indeed. We shall do our best to find the answers." It was nice and refreshing to see an authority sharing goals with harpers, she even suspected man for a moment to be the part of organization. He sounded as he was preparing to launch an attack on the army of kobolds and dragons.
If there were no objection on the part of townsfolk, Taviel would (Nodwick, of course) took some robe and set of jewels identifying cultists. She might not be a master of disguise, but never knows when such things get handy. As of dead bodies - she was curious about the colour of the drakes and kobolds. That could tell if the group was dealing with one clan or a true army of different dragons.
By the way, horses or wagon - was a very sound idea. And since the mayor was expecting return of town's possession, Taviel would ask for one - strictly to transport rescued treasure, of course. In case all the town horses got eaten, Nodwick's mule would do for now.
When they finally got on the trail (it had to be a day time still?) she was riding near the wagon, allowing loyal Nodwick to drive the thing. An army leaves a pretty clear trail and usually is quite noisy, so she did not worry they can miss it. But when Toc suddenly decided it's time to hide, she had to comment: "Toc, if you are serious about stealth, you better leave your horse with Nodwick, as I do. He'll stay here and wait for our signal to return."
Taviel was wearing broun enough travelling cloak, covering usually bright clothes, so she did not worry about herself. But stealthy horse ... she did not trust that much.
Naroth nods at Toc in agreement and takes up position at the front of the group moving as silently as he can.
