"Can you reach the eyes to put them in? I will boost you up to put them in if you want, Daemyar." Garnet agrees with the others concern, but the major threat seems vanquished and this may create another passage. "Seems to be a bit of a dead end here. Perhaps there are stairs down."
Ithelion nods to Daemyar and Garnet, "I could manipulate them from a distance, perhaps." A spectral hand flickers briefly in front of her, before dissipating. "But...I did wonder...if it might be something to do with summoning a magical light, or merely saying the words in the right place..."
Ithelion glances nervously at the statue, and moves back to the corridor before repeating the words to Daemyar, first in Common, then in Draconic. "'Let the sorcerous power illuminate my spirit' . I can't help but feel that's a request for light..." she shrugs and looks around at the room again before continuing. "First things first, I suppose, lets just see if the gems will fit...though we should probably also see if there is magic present, but that will take a few minutes."
If Daemyar hands her a gem she examines it closely, then moves to the statue and examines the eye socket, trying to assess if they will fit and what orientation is required. If she thinks that they will fit well, she then summons a Mage Hand to hold the the gem near the socket, with the correct orientation, before she moves back and ushers everyone away. Once all are clear, she uses the spectral hand to push the gem into place. If nothing happens, she repeats the process with the other gem.
@DM: So, to be clear, it looks like them gems fir snugly, and they are now both in place in the eyes?
When nothing happens as a result of her experiment, Ithelion frowns, then turns to Krom. "Could you perhaps summon a light on or near the red stone? Either that or I can cast Detect Magic as a ritual...to see if there is something we have missed."
As she says this, pulls out her book and starts the ritual. "We'll probably want it anyway..." she says by way of explanation.
Krom as you come back into the room after Ithelion has finished, your eyes are drawn to an inconsistency in the stonework in the west wall of the room. One of the stones seems...out of place and not aligned with the others.
Ithelion, they fit in the holes but it doesn’t seem like they go with the statue in any way. Lots of things would fit in the eye sockets. After you cast your spell, you notice both the statue and the circular tiles give off an aura of transmutation magic.
He says to Daemyar "I'm sorry for being a jerrk. I'll try and not crriticize anymore. You're a boon to us"
Daemyar raises an eyebrow. “You have spoken your mind. Where I am from… a battle determines victory and rightness in such circumstance.” He shrugs. “But we are not there. And there is no going back. You are not wrong in this place to speak your mind. Don’t apologize. Show truth of your words. Through victory elsewhere.”
Krom grumbles the command word for the ring on his finger to illuminate and give off a cool white light. Spotting the out of place brick in the wall he complains, "Shoddy stone work of whomever built this place. Can't even keep bricks lined up. This place could be fallin' in on our heads if structure gets worse."

Okay, a couple of things here. First, as you use the ring, the white light allows you to see colour and you notice that the circular tiles and the statue is red. There is an off colour set of dragon prints on the circular tiles and that is where the dragon statue's gaze is. Second, you remove the loose wall to find a good sized space there. Looking in, you see two potions and 35 gold coins. The potions have an etching icon on the leather - a flame. Seems like Alchemist's Fire (flask).
Ithelion looks dubiously at the circular floor tile, "I am reluctant to try it, but several things here were activated by words said while standing near them...I suggest you all stand back."
She sends Elosa back to the corner to watch from cover, then waits for the others to get clear, before standing on the tile and saying, "Let the sorcerous power illuminate my spirit'", first in Draconic, then common...
@Ithelion - As you say the words whilst on the tiles, which you can see are red in normal light, the tiles burst into red flames! You flinch but realize they are harmless. You feel a lot more sure of yourself and your confidence in yourself skyrockets. [for the next 24 hours, you have advantage on charisma checks] The reddish glow disappears, it’s effect spent for now.

“That’s up to you. What do the words say?”

"No heat? This could be a stairrway to hell. Maybe if you say what you did with the gems in place?"
He starts moving away to the door.

You all move back as Ithelion does her thing. Nothing happens.

Garnet says, "There is something else here that we are missing... hmm.." She looks curiously at the alchemist's fire.
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Shere shrugs "Seems Our wonderous minds are working on this."

Garnet turns and looks at Ithelion, a wry smile comes to the corner of her mouth as she sees Ithelion in a new light.
After a moment, she turns to Daemyar, "Where now, which way should we go, destroyer of shadows?"

“Ithelion looks more like herself. Hmph.”
