I finally bought the bullet and purchased the PHB through D&D Beyond. It is nice to have more characters where the feats and archetypes don't have to be hand-written in.
(The nice thing is, it's actually less expensive than getting a paper PHB. I too went for a while where I was using homebrew stuff bc I already had the physical version and didn't want to buy it twice. I would share content with you, but my subscription ran out and I'm not sure if I'll renew it.)

I have content sharing. I don't have I huge collection, but it slowly growing. The 3 core books, XGtE, Eberion and a few other bits and pieces.
I cannot make an online character sheet because they dont have a forest gnome option...
(They do have a forest gnome option, you just have to buy the Player's Handbook. I understand if you don't want to do that, though.)
(The other option is to buy just the races. It's cheaper than buying the whole book. Plus, if you decide to buy the book later, the price is discounted to reflect the part purchase. That's what I did to start with.)
Backstory: Flower of Ivory was taken from her homeland as a kit. She has almost no recollection of it, just the warm rain. Her mistress raised her, fed her, and when she was younger, let her sleep at the foot of her bed close to the fireplace. Her mistress was a powerful wizard. She gave Flower a beautiful, magical collar when she was old enough to go outside the manor. Her mistress told her the collar would protect her. Flower began to prefer running the estate property to being in the manor. She did not care for the household servants. They looked at her strangely and called her things like "Mistress's pet." Whenever she told the Mistress about this, she told Flower to ignore them. She said they were just jealous. Then her mistress would treat her to her favorite, a fruit from her homeland called pineapple. She felt bad for them including her mistress as they only had fur on their heads not an all over beautiful coat of Ivory color fur like her. Flower would have terrible dreams of a strange man with writhing hair. Beyond that all she could remember was the name Marlos Urnrayle. She knew nothing of this being except he is a dangerous villain who must be stopped. She told no one of this. She became the hunter for the estate bringing meat for meals. She was allowed free reign of the land but at a certain distance from the manor her collar would cause her intense pain. She learned the boundary. As she got older she began to question her place. She was no longer allowed to sleep inside. She taught herself to read whenever her mistress went on one of her expeditions. She learned many things that made her think she was not being treated as she should. She became a master hunter not only of game but also of the monsters that would appear on the property or escape from the Mistress's laboratory. (Favored Enemy=Monstrosities) More and more she became resentful of her treatment. Her mistress would just placate her. She spent less and less time at the manor. Often just long enough to drop off game at the kitchen. Years went by with Flower living in near solitude. One day not long ago one of her arrows missed it's mark. When she went to retrieve it, it had landed just beyond the boundary. Flower thought she might be able to reach it. As she tried she lost her balance and fell through the invisible boundary. There was no pain. She rushed back to the manor. She stopped short and found cover for there were strangers dressed in stone clothing leaving the manor carrying many things. Some had blood on their stone clothing and bloody weapons in their hands. After they left the property Flower entered the manor. She found the household staff. They were all dead. She felt sick. Sure they were never kind to her but she never wanted this. She ran to find her mistress. She too had been killed. She fell to her knees. As angry as she was at her mistress she did not this was the way she should have paid for what she had done. Enraged she ripped off her collar. Then paused, curious. She had never been able to remove the collar, no matter how bad it itched sometimes. She stood. She was finally, truly free. After tending to the bodies she gathered some supplies and gear, including a book of spells she thought might be useful (Ranger Spells), and left the estate. She knew what she had to do. Somehow she knew the stone clothed murderers had something to do with Marlos Urnrayle.
Experience with D&D: Been buying and reading D&D books since the early 1980s. Created a lot of characters, maps & adventures. Occasional got to play both as DM & player. Very occasionally. Have only been able to play on a regular basis since fall 2017. So I have far less actual playing/DMing the game than it sounds. Currently our time has been cut in half. So I am not getting enough D&D in my life. Never done PbP. Always been curious. Excited to give it a try.

Characters have been chosen. If you have been chosen, you received a PM. If you haven't been, please don't take it personally. It was quite hard choosing, and there were many great submissions.

I make a point to. I've had PbP I've applied to where the DM never says he sent PMs, he never changes the recruitment tags, and I only find out I wasn't picked when I see the game thread up and running.

Best of luck to those who were picked!
