“I’m comfortable staying behind to stand watch if preferred.” Mia would shrug. Otherwise, if they preferred to use the familiar, she was ready to move if the two gathered the information they required at this time.
"Thank you, Mia, Bones," the tiefling wizard said softly. "Yes, I think I will search the entire field, though it could take some time." Setting himself comfortably on the ground, he cast the ritual which would allow him to Detect Magic. Then, with a final glance at his companions and an order to Baltor to remain there and ward him of any issue, Talinian took to the skies...or rather just off the ground. He flew methodically, as close to the ground as he could safely get.
ooc: His plan will be to sweep the whole area, stopping as needed to re-cast Detect Magic. I know that it could take a while. The spell has a 30' range and will penetrate a few feet into the ground.
You spend some time flying around, and don't get any pings, until you fly to an odd looking hill area, at the back of the northern camp, when you get close to it the hill is projecting a white light, but every so offten another color will come through, but not always the same color. The light also seems to be dimmer than it would be if you were to be looking at anything else.
Talinian lands then summons Baltor to him, wishing he'd been smart enough to work out a way to communicate the need to bring everyone to him. While he waits for owl, he writes a short message for Mia and Bones to bring the prisoner and Xamyra to him, following Baltor, and to look through Falami's things for a shovel or spade, if they don't have one. Then he begins to carefully dig for items in the dirt, using his hands, dagger, and items from his mess kit. As soon as Baltor arrives, Talinian sends the owl back with the note.
"I will definitely purchase a spade at my earliest opportunity," he mutters to himself.
ooc: Do you want me to roll anything? He's using his hands and the cup and plate from the mess kit at first but as he gets closer to any particular source of light, will switch to carefully digging/probing with the dagger to reduce as much as possible the change of accidentally touching one of the items until they've had a chance to examine them more fully. He will stop as often as necessary to recast Detect Magic so he is aware of the depth and location of the items.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Upon getting the message and reading it out, "It seems Talinian has found something, should we go?" Bones asks Mia as he begins to search the camp for a shovel or several to take with them (Investigation: 18).
I'll say that all 4 of you dig for the the most of the day, and every so often you stop and recast Detect Magic, and the light is getting brighter and brighter. You get to a box finally, the box is made of Adamantine, it is about 12 feet long, and 3 feet wide and tall, there is no hindge or physical lock on it. there is a note on the top of it that reads.
"Magics that should never be allowed in the world again."
Talinian sits back, staring at the note, then looks at the others, then back at the box and the note. "Great," his customary formality deserting him. "That's just great. Now what do we do?"

ooc: Everything inside the protected bubble. I'm assuming that includes the field and the camps, too.

Talinian flies around the hill, very intrigued. So much magic.
ooc: What kind of magics is he detecting?
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
He can not tell, he keeps getting confused about it.

Talinian ponders the message of the white light, wanting to know if it is safe to land and search the hill.
Arcana 23
If he thinks it is safe, he lands and begins searching.
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
Yeah with the 23, what your starting to realize is it's not a single item, but a large group of items, and that they must be below the dirt.
