Name: Tom Longshanks
Race/Class Human variant/fighter
Backstory: Left the army after being ordered to burn a village with non-combatants. I been a caravan guard/mercenary looking for work ever since. Months ago, the I served as a guard for a band of mysterious pilgrims who set out to reoccupy the Sacred Stone Monastery. My mission is to infiltrate the group and discover their intentions.
Experience with D&D: I've been playing DnD off and on for 15+ years. Currently DMing two campaigns here on DnD Beyond PbP.
Timezone: Alaska Standard Time (-4 hours from EST). I work swing shift.
Backstory: I'll try to incorporate the following hook:
Undercover
The character is tasked to break up a smuggling and piracy ring on the Dessarin River headquartered at Rivergard Keep.
Maltake was adopted as a foundling in Silverymoon by the Palloreon family, a family of wizards. While growing up he sought to blend in with his adopted family. Most of the siblings were aspiring to become wizards. Maltake tried to follow suit but was regularly outperformed by his step-siblings. Not to be outdone, he doubled his efforts at studying and training. While studying one day he was drawn to the family's library, specifically a book. Maltake, having been in the library many times before, had never noticed that particular book before. Thinking it was just added recently, he took it and discovered that it was a book on magic. Happy to have found such a tome to help him catch up with his step-siblings, he read and practiced the lessons contained therein. The book was in reality a conduit for what would soon be Maltake's Patron.
In one of the practice sessions between the step-siblings Maltake cast a spell he had learned from the book. The spell was far stronger than he had anticipated and injured his step-sibling. He ran away from the Palloreon household that very night.
He soon discovered that one of the things in his pack which he did not remember bringing was the book which taught him the spell that injured his step-brother. The longer he possessed the book, the stronger he became.
He eventually made it to Waterdeep where he ended up as a member of the thieves' guild. His specialty is information gathering for he is able to either blend in either through deception or stealth.
His most recent mission is to investigate and eliminate a smuggling ring along the Dessarin River since it has affected the activities of the guild in Waterdeep.
Experience with D&D: I am a long time player of D&D but I haven't played that much of 5E. I don't get to play much in person since my friends have moved away and have just recently discovered PBP. I am familiar with 5E rules. I love both role-playing and combat.

Fugitive ”The character is on the trail of a ruthless murderer, Bastian Thermandar.”
Triston is a devotee of Nephthys, the necessary companion of the dead. His goddess is often feared, but also respected as a protector of transition between this life and the next. Triston takes his duties in this very seriously, understanding the natural order. But when life is cut short by murder, it is mere mortal attempting to wield power over his goddess, in declaring where she must go. So it is that Triston brings his goddess to them. For his role is that of protecting her borders. Triston marches after another who would trespass there... Bastian Thermandar.

Experience - a few years, all 5e, and I have been DMing for a bit over six months. Most of its in pbp, but some in live games. I really don’t want a game where the hooks and RP don’t matter. I want to feel like the characters in the party matter for more than stats and tactics. Although that’s definitely good.
ps: I homebrewed a version of chill touch that happens with a melee strike, akin to booming blade. It syncs well with a death cleric’s reaper ability. Let me know if it’s not okay.
Race|Class: Half elf | Druid (Circle of the Shepard)
Background: Hermit
Hook: Dangerous Secret
Backstory: While his mother did love him, she could not withstand the constant mockery and sideways glances for having borne a half-breed. It wasn't her choice, nor even her fault. A group of marauders had raised the village. The women were taken as prizes for the leader. She had given birth months after. She had decided to leave the child with the human recluse that lived deep in the forest. A better life for both of them - she hoped.
Living under a huge pine, apples and nuts formed majority of his diet. Animals were treated with utmost respect by his master and that would manifest itself in Davian's abilities. His affinity with nature was definite. So much so that once his powers had began to show, his master takes him with a mission of great importance. Infiltrate the Circle of the Scarlet Moon and report his findings. It must be uncovered what rituals and magics these "druids" held.

Experience with D&D: Played 3.5e many years ago. Have only taken up again since the new year, and only on D&D Beyond. Currently in a handful of campaigns and loving every minute of it. Reasonably familiar with the toolset here on D&DB but still learning the intricacies of 5e. I prefer to play for flavour over optimisation.
Backstory: She has always known the sea Sharinn grew up in the islands of the Sea of Swords among the fishing villages, learning to swim, sail, and appreciate the ocean and all it has to offer. Her genasi background made her an oddity, but one people were willing to overlook as she often made herself useful cleaning barnacles off of ships under the waterline and shaping water to help keep ships from sinking as the crew made repairs.
As she grew up she sought a closer affinity for what she saw was divine blessings from the ocean, but she never felt comfortable with the worship of Umberlee despite sailors offering sacrifices to her for safe travel. Eventually she found a small sea elf temple on shore to Deep Sashelas, elf god of the sea. She quickly found acceptance there and became a cleric of Sashelas, and offering her gods gifts and blessings as an alternative to the more destructive ocean gods.
Over time Sharinn has seen increasing portents of nature going awry, in contention with her god. This cake to a head when months ago, Gar Shatterkeel destroyed the ship she was on by conjuring a powerful storm. Dozens of sailors died, and now she seeks the root of the problem and intends on fixing it as an offering.

I see. Good luck to those who were accepted, try not to get stabbed, beaten, burnt, drowned, poisoned, or strangled. Or any combination of them. Or any other method of death that I was too lazy to type out. Don't die. It's good for your health.
